Club making it clear if you're found buying home end tickets to sell to away fans against the OF then you'll be blocked from buying tickets again.

Good to see them trying to be proactive about ending that.

Whit about the. Being amongst the home fans will they be removed ??

Interesting reading in the Courier about a five year plan https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/st-johnstone/5174150/adam-webb-st-johnstone-5-year-pledge/

“But there’s a reason why they were selling – because they didn’t have the passion or the energy to focus on it like you really have to.

“I would never say they did anything wrong because the successes they had were incredible."

Webb added: “Within five years you will look at our structures and processes and say: ‘That’s a modern club.’

“We have resistance to change in our fan base and even our staff and our long-time supporters, as you always will.

“We have to overcome that resistance. We’ve been doing so. Our decision making and our process has already got a lot more fluid and dynamic.

“The general rule when we got here was: ‘That’s not how it’s been done, we’re not changing it.’

“Well, that’s absurd. We’ve got to change with the times. There’s a reason why some traditions linger, and I respect that.

“There’s obviously a good reason to progress if there’s a better process and better strategy going forward."

Into the 21st century 24 years late.

Safe hands.

That quote is while not surprising a bit staggering. If that was the attitude of many in the club some cards may well be marked

It was the suggestion of resistance from fans that got me. I can only imagine it's about the walk out music? Don't think there is anything else really that fans would be resistant about?

I don't think anyone would give a toss about the walk on music whether they like it or not.

I would say 3 stands to OF is most controversial.

Yeah, it's definitely the 3 stands he's referring to.

I also thought it was a bit of a passive, aggressive type statement. Taking a swipe at the previous administration but in a respectful way.

We all had our problems with Steve Brown, but I suppose Webb is seeing more from the inside than we do.

Interesting he pointed out that they were reluctant to change.

I remember in his welcome interview, every time he mentioned something like "We want to be a top 6 club", Geoff would roll his eyes.

I love Geoff, and without him there wouldn't be a St. Johnstone. But it does seem like the time was right for them to hand over the reins.

100% this.   The winds of change will continue to blow through our corridors for a while yet.  Let us trust our custodians to take us all where they see us in modern day Scottish football.  Keep the faith.

The right time to hand over the reins was probably 3/4 years earlier.

Absolutely. I think that the mark of a truly great leader is knowing when the time is right to step down. You have to reflect on whether you genuinely have the passion and energy to bring about the changes that are required - doing it repeatedly year after year is draining. And ultimately there are going to be 'casualties' along the way; people you have worked with and relied on during tough times but they may not be the people to take the business forward. Much easier for a new owner to come in with their vision and decide on the changes required as they are less burdened by sentimentality and loyalty. There were quite a lot of public statements from Geoff and Steve that indicated they were losing interest so definitely the time to move on. Thankfully, while it took a while, it does seem to have been an orderly transition - I really appreciate that they did their due diligence. Still early days and it might yet go pear-shaped but given what we could have had, I really like what I have heard from Webb.

Geoff did try to step down but as in a lot of businesses a son comes in and makes an arse of it and the father has come back and take the reins.

Up til 2021, I dont think you would say that Steve was 'making an arse of it' so he had a fairly decent track record - maybe not perfect but Saints were successful where it mattered. Since 2021...yeah, it wasn't working. Out of interest, when did Geoff declare publicly that he wanted to sell?

In hindsight I think a lot of that success up until 2021 was being achieved and held together pretty much single-handedly by Tommy Wright. The signs of impending problems were all there and TW tried countless times to warn the club (and fans) about them, but we were just doing so well that it probably never really felt like change and modernisation was a necessity or priority.

Even when we were riding the crest of a wave, it always felt like Steve Brown used every public interview to talk about how he wanted out and basically couldn't be arsed.
