I think a lot of people are using our current manager and predicament to for whatever reason beat Geoff Brown with a stick. Which is frankly absolute nonsense. The man deserves nothing but praise and accolades from saints fans both now and in the future. He’s done more for this club than anyone else ever will now and in the future and as RG says he’s entitled to take whatever he wants out from the sale. The fact that he isn’t is simply another reason he should be held in the highest of regards not just from saints, but also Scottish football.

No doubt Geoff deserves loads of plaudits, unfortunately he deserves criticism too,for allowing his son to do what he did to the club, and for himself choosing Levein, after the board dithered a couple of weeks.

This is how I feel. It's completely possible to acknowledge the incredible job Geoff Brown has done for the club over the years, while also saying that there are some things he should take criticism for.

The good far outweighs the bad, but unfortunately we're currently going through one of the bad bits, so that's what people are going to be discussing.

Also totally agree with @RandomGuy that if Geoff wanted to take a cut of the sale of the club he'd be completely deserving of that and I'd have no issue with it. The fact that he's chosen not to do that is an amazing gesture.

I have praised Geoff from day one and will be ever grateful to him for saving our club but brining in Levein was unforgivable.

Let's not paint him as an altruist. I am not sure if he and Sidey etc put any money into the club apart from loans. They certainty put plenty time and effort and we have to be ever grateful for that but I am sure they gained a lot through it as well.

The only time it is recorded that Geoff contributed any hard cash was when he signed Dodds but he got his money back and maybe more when he sold him to Aberdeen.

I just pray that he has made the right decision on selling the club and is not just desperate to get shot.

In Geoff we trust.

Up til now.

Fingers crossed.

Just on this point, did he really have any choice? He's in his 80s and his son wanted out (and presumably his other children aren't interested?), so what option did he have left? I suppose the only other alternative would have been to put the wheels in motion for handing it over to a supporters trust?

To me it's felt like the Brown era has been winding down for a few years now, and whether things go well or go badly from this point, I don't think there's any doubt that the club is currently at the stage of needing a fresh start and new ideas.

As a Saints fan for over 50 years i am so glad we managed to avoid the drop in the Browns final year of ownership . The good times have far outweighed the bad times during there time at the helm and it would have been very sad and undeserved if there last season in charge has ended in relegation . The last 3 seasons have been tough but i feel all saints fans owe the Brown Family a huge thanks for all the memorable times we have enjoyed since Geoff Brown agreed to takeover the club from the previous owners .

A couple of conditions according to the BBC: However, the SFA will demand assurances over meaningful fan engagement on the takeover proposal and a guarantee the Saints badge, colours and team name will remain the same.

Pleasantly surprised to see the SFA actually care about these points when the old firm aren’t involved.

It will be interesting to see who will be on the board. Stan was holding the fort for 6 months as Geoff didn't fancy it. That 6 months may be up soon . Will the new owner be involved at all .will Stan and Roddy be kept on. Will there be any fans involvement.

Interesting few months.

Think it was reported somewhere that there will be a new chief executive/chairman/whatever recruited to run the club. Guessing Stan will remain on board until everyone feels the handover is complete. Haven't seen anything mentioned about what happens to Roddy.

Hopefully the new owner will be taking the opportunity to listen to fans' views at some point. For all I know, that's maybe already happened. There is the fans' forum/panel thing after all, so maybe the people on that have been spoken to?

I still reckon that as fans we need a supporters' trust so that we're prepared for any worst case scenarios. That would be a lot of work to set up, though.

People have short memories, so anyone airing bad vibes towards the Brown family or any of the legacy need a punch in the puss!  :)

What about Stevie? He oversaw the cup double and then appointed Flaherty, stepped back, and allowed him and Davidson to set us on a downward spiral that has lasted for three seasons. I must admit to being conflicted over this with regard to his legacy. To go from one extreme almost to the other was avoidable and needless. Punch away 😊
