"As soon as heard there was interest from Aberdeen, I called my agent and said get it done," he told the club website.

Bye then!

No doubt saying this to keep in with his new employers but leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Thought he would have headed back south but money talks.

We've lost fan favourites in this way before - no doubt we will do again. At least this time we've got plenty of time in the window for Levein to identify and get a replacement in.

Dons are rank, fans living on glory days under Ferguson. Mitov can do better

If he had options at a higher level with more money he would have taken it.  Although he had a great season and is an excellent shot stopper he has significant weaknesses in his game.  In England he might get a bottom of the Championship team or a League 1 side.  If he wants to stay in Scotland Aberdeen were the biggest team available to him as he would not interest the Old Firm and Hearts are well covered.  He might have had options abroad but if he wants to stay in the UK then Aberdeen is a good stepping stone from where he could possibly move on to a higher end Championship club.

There was me thinking it was maybe his agent pushing it. Can't see why an Englishman would grab a move to Aberdeen when he could probably have got a better deal down south if he had waited, especially as there isn't much transfer movement down there yet.

I hope the "atmosphere they create " gets to him.

Great shot stopper but his kicking and distribution could be a bit iffy at times. Would have preferred him going down south but at least we are getting some money out of it.

Correct.

Meh, as good as he was last year if we recruit right, he might not be as much of a loss going forward.

Ideally we build a team that doesn't give the opposition as many chances to have pops at goal as we did last season.

The money, perhaps not as much as we would like, but invested wisely might go some way to improving us, as I suspect we won't see any US$ money until the end of this season...if at all.

Little disappointed in the sound bites coming out from him. He did come across as a player who was looking to move on as quickly as possible to continue to move up the ladder as he saw it. Sounds like the first opportunity he got, he was out of here. Like others have said, he could have done better waiting a wee spell. Others have done the same and found things don't go their way.....will Mitov be the same, time will tell.

Plucked from obscurity at Cambridge, joined us, became a Bulgarian International, won loads at End of Season Award Ceremony, and couldn't wait to join a club with history, albeit ancient.

Said nothing good about Saints, which leads me to think that all is not well at McD.................or is he just.being an arse????

He turned down Championship sides to sign for us, as he wanted top flight football to help him play for Bulgaria. He wouldn't turn down Aberdeen to then go to that league IMO.

Mitov had a good season for us and did very well..his effort and commitment could not be faulted, at least from the perspective of sitting in the stand watching.

Bit of a bomb scare at times with his kicking and distribution but as a saver of shots and cross taker he was really good.

Most players, when moving to a new club , come out with things intended for their NEW audience...its really formulaic and I would not read too much into it. The number of 'lifelong supporters', who jumped at the chance' when being offered an OF contract is amazing....when its pretty well certain the club was just name and not on the radar until the agent/clud PR call and gives you a preprepared statement. (Nothing to do with the size of pay cheque of course.)

Will not read too much into it. He served us well for his year here. Being in Scotland will be a bit irritating...but although he gave us a good season too, who now even mentions Remi Matthews?

Thank you for what you gave us...good luck for the future..and hope you make a monumental error like the one against Dundee at home when playing against us! 😊

Honestly don't see anything in his comments for people to get annoyed about. He's excited to sign for a new club and he's talking them up, just like I'd expect any new Saints player to do when they sign for us. Nothing disrespectful to us in that at all. And as far as I can see he's only ever said good things about Saints.
