He turned down Championship sides to sign for us, as he wanted top flight football to help him play for Bulgaria. He wouldn't turn down Aberdeen to then go to that league IMO.

Doesn’t really make sense. I am sure the Bulgarian national set up are well aware the the English Championship is light years ahead in terms of quality compared to the top league in Scotland.

Apparently was excellent in his first season, but then lost his way. Wouldn’t be hugely expensive I imagine, and would be a good signing if he got back to his early form.

Is this a case of "we have been watching him for some time" or an agent saying I hear you are looking for a centre half.

Who is Preston with again ?.

The positives from the Mitov deal are that other players, and agents, will see that they can come here, have a platform to do well and then move on to a better contract elsewhere.

That is where we are just now and is much more of a natural position for us and clubs of a similar stature to us.

The last 10-15 years or so where we have had good players come and stay for prolonged periods are gone.

Players playing for our club for more than 2/3 seasons will be in the minority.

From what I hear Levein is quite active in terms of identifying players he wants. Either through scouting or because he knows them. I think the days of a word from an agent might be over

Honestly don't see anything in his comments for people to get annoyed about. He's excited to sign for a new club and he's talking them up, just like I'd expect any new Saints player to do when they sign for us. Nothing disrespectful to us in that at all. And as far as I can see he's only ever said good things about Saints.

Exactly.

"Good luck, all the best, great keeper, sorely missed" moves to "fuq him" quite quickly.

Some Lunatic Fans on here...

Ross Sinclair was expected to be the number one goalkeeper until his unfortunate injury, so I'll not be surprised to see him given a chance to establish his credentials for the job.  From what I saw of him, I rated him higher than Zander at that age so I do hope he gets the chance.  It will also give impetus to our younger keepers.

I'd like to see a deal done for Taylor Steven as he was more impressive than Franczak when I saw them together last year.  By all reports he had an outstanding loan spell, scoring and assisting, something we are short off.  Maybe he has a longer contract.  I certainly would expect him to be in the mix if he stays.  Again a clear sign to our youngsters there is a path to the first team.

Josh McPake - back up for Drey Wright I imagine. Three players who have done well at levels below us and we're giving a chance to step up.  They might not all work out, but it's a good basis for a signing policy. They're also all going to be fairly cheap. I imagine we're going to see some more expensive signings over the coming weeks.
