Two years for McPake certainly surprised me. Especially when you consider that someone like Sprangler only got one year (unless that's all he was willing to sign up for, of course). I think one year, with a commitment to extend to two years if they achieve a certain number of appearances, would have probably made sense for these two new guys.

That might be what they're on. Sprangler was announced when he first signed as a 2yr deal but it turned out to be 1yr + 1 if he hit an appearance mark.

Press suggesting striker/winger Gabby McGill. He’s young and has a strike rate of one in three. May must be leaving. Maybe Clark going too?

Taylor & Parker just signed new contracts

I notice they are both with the same agency " game changer UK" who apart from a 23 year old , all are 20 or under.

Barry Douglas also

Surely not the 35 year old Barry Douglas, recently released by Lech Poznan? Unless he is a Lewandowski clone of course!

As a Perth lad I hope he does well.

Taking emotion out of it I think it is good for us that he moves on. Limited how we could play last year as only looked like he could play in a back 3 meaning we couldn't switch to a back 4.

That he has moved pretty much sideways to Motherwell says a lot. Teams down south having the chance to have him on a free and not taking it speaks for itself really.

Liam Gordon was frustrating - especially latterly. Club captain during a real low point in our 16 year Premiership history and we can’t get away from that.

But flip it and ask yourself, if you were a fan watching Liam Gordon who was club captain at Ross County, Livingston, Aberdeen, Motherwell or Hibs last season, over the piece, if we had just signed him to replace McGowan, Considine, Kerr Smith or Olufunwa, what would you be saying??

”good age, bags of experience in the Scottish Premiership, played in Europe, won trophies…”

Because I reckon Motherwell fans will be laughing up their sleeves taking the club captain and double cup winner off their Premiership rivals.

19 days to go until our first competitive game and we will see when our defence runs out onto the pitch if it’s a case of be careful what you wish for.

Heads needed to roll after the past couple of seasons but I am not sure Liam Gordon was the wisest one to target.

If they had signed him 2 or 3 years ago I think they might have been laughing. They have not nabbed a guy on his way up though. He has clearly, and understandably given the way the team have been coached in the last few seasons, at best stagnated and more realistically regressed.

Not having a replacement already signed I agree is a worry but I think to get better as a team we had to part ways.

I think the same is true for him by the way, big responsibility being captain when the team isn't playing well and he would have felt it more than anyone.

Kettlewell will probably bring out the best in Liam. We all saw the change in Theo with a different style of coaching, which begs the question of what does Levein actually do?

You’ve quoted me but not really answered my question.

Gordon struggled under Davidson and Levein, there's no point starting a witch hunt against Levein over it.

The abuse he was getting from the support was wild, I don't blame him at all wanting away from that.

I don’t think it is a witch-hunt to say that Liam Gordon doesn’t fancy playing under Levein when he has other offers on the table with managers who will look after him better.

Perhaps Liam is just pissed off at the abuse so called fans gave hime last year and decided enough was enough and move away to another team and supporters.

If I had watched Liam Gordon last season and we had signed him I would be thinking:

"I really hope teams don't try and cross the ball into our box."

This one's a surprise. I did think he'd be off, but I thought it would be down south and hooking up again with his bestie Hendry.

I wonder how much Bair and Foster had to do with this.

Kettlewell seems to be a decent man manager and players like playing for him.

Make of that what you will.

Anyway, good luck to him.

Onwards...

The Saints support has far more of a part in Gordon wanting to leave than Levein.

Social media warriors almost as bad as the ones at the game. Never doubted his commitment, sure he made mistakes, we all do at work, and few are getting watched by thousands
