He also says a couple of new centre backs will be signing, and he wants to review the GK situation. Wonder how far away we are from a left back.

Self certification, like the withdrawal from International squad.

So many odd issues at the club at the moment and this Uche situation is just the icing on the cake…

A significant number of our players paying for personal trainers while we pay our own fitness staff

A number of players using private physios because they don’t have faith in the ones at the club

Players opting for our rivals rather than playing under this regime.

This owner needs to clear the decks entirely! Something is rotten and we need to start from the bottom!

Can you back this up ?

I can’t imagine any professional football club allows personal trainers or private physios ?

or at least without their agreement

It is very common in top level sports now for people to have their own personal trainers. Sometimes they will work in communication with the players sporting organisation.

The personal trainers outwith the club stuff came to light when Davidson was still in charge, you can't fully point the blame at Levein for that.

We've also missed out on plenty on players under previous managers too. Robbie Deas and Matty Kennedy turned us down for Kilmarnock last Summer, and Tommy Wright infamously lost out on Declan Gallagher to Motherwell.

I thought Mel done a cracking job as physio don’t know where she went but seems to be different people all the time since she vanished

A new spine of the team is required to be signed....but of genuine top level quality

Mitov

Gordon

Phillips

Gone.

With the money speculated from Mitov leaving ,we need to bring in QUALITY  as opposed to a previous philosophy of below average cheap quantity.

To be perfectly honest the current squad is average at best.

If we have any ambition, any ambition of making progress we need to make signings that will get people through the door.

If Sid leaves too, you'd be hard pressed to find your average fair weather,  part time supporter come anywhere near McDiarmid nest season.

Time yet....but the next few weeks in terms of quality signings...or lack of them will ultimately shape attitude, confidence and belief in the fan base - which currently needs MASSIVE reassurance of belief and ambition from the club.

Over to you HQ....deliver.

Very difficult to bring in the quality for the money we probably have available.  The small change we get for Mitov will not do this.  I think the current squad as it stands is below average and a stick on for relegation.  The new owner needs to put his head above the parapet and state his ambitions.  Similar sized teams in the league are a more attractive proposition for players as they have a better following in terms of attendances at games.  Our nearest competitors are Ross County who are compensating for their location by paying more in wages than we can offer.  So all in all, for a player signing in this league we are the least attractive proposition possible.  This is why we need to go down the leagues for ambitious players looking to make it at the top level.

Agree with the above, but would add that I don't think it's just about money. Even when we were successful we were often struggling to compete with what clubs around us were offering, but I think the big problem on top of that now is that we've been circling the drain for three years so our relegation battles can't really be dismissed as anomalies any more. Any player given the choice between Saints and Killie/Dundee/St Mirren/Motherwell is going to see Saints as the club most likely to have a miserable season and get relegated. That's a pretty big flip on the safety, stability and chance at success we used to be able to offer players.

I also have pretty big doubts about Levein's ability to attract players. Would anyone here choose being managed by Levein over an option of McInnes/Docherty/Robinson/Kettlewell? I don't think I would.

But we don’t necessarily need to fish in the same waters as these clubs and we don’t necessarily need to look in the Scottish lower leagues to avoid that possibility. Levein showed some original thinking in January. Kimpioka, for example, came from the Swedish top-flight. Is he good for this level? Seems so. Were opposing clubs competing for him? Probably not, there are a lot of footballers in the world.

Levein’s January policy showed promise. Summer has felt a bit unconvincing so far, so he needs to live up to that promise soon.

The new name being reported is Ricki Lamie. May be wrong, but I can't see it personally. More of a Davidson signing. Levein doesn't tend to sign that sort of player, but has tended to go for those he's worked with before, players from the lower leagues who need to make the step up, or those from abroad.

He also talked about wanting defenders who had speed. I wouldn't say that about Lamie. Perhaps coming from his agent?

No mention of the Club's Medics, if we still actually have any, having seen Uche since his unfortunate injury, and being referred for Specialist opinion.

Agree, and I think that's probably the best way forward for Saints right now. Find more guys like Sprangler, Kimpioka and Keltjens who might not be on other Scottish clubs' radars but mighy jump at the chance to play in the UK. I'd hope we've tried sounding out Sprangler in particular about any other players he might know of in Austria who could be worth looking at.

I also think we should consider bringing in more players from English non-league, like we did with Sidibeh. If you bring in one or two a year, it won't cost the world but if even one of them hits it off every few seasons it could be really valuable to us.

Yeah, just signed for Ross County. Didn’t think it was a Levein sort of signing

Folk can turn their nose up at Ricki Lamie and he certainly wouldn't have ranked amongst the all-time greats but are we going to find better than a guy of his experience and standing?

The three or four other centre backs are all going to need an experienced head in there beside them.

From what I understand Levein is looking for particular types of players to fit with certain tactics. I think it’s just that Lamie didn’t fit that profile

After a season of watching Andy Considine, Liam Gordon and Ryan McGowan… I am absolutely turning my nose up at an “experienced head” who has played in the Premiership already.

Only area on the pitch that needs a marquee signing for me. Ram Ricki Lamie!

Jim Weir, Alan Kernaghan, Michael Duberry, Frazer Wright type centre half needing signed.

I believe Lewis Neilson has been offered on loan from Hearts.  He was on loan at Partick last season but they are looking to continue his development at a higher level.  Thoughts?

A higher level???

Pretty low bar to be fair

Do we need another unde21 at centre half and why give another teams young player game time.

Did he not play midfield for Partick quite a bit.
