Sure I seen something from Eric Nicholson during the week saying he'd forgotten to ask the question about a fee for Essel but if anything would be minimal

Eric Nicholson is one of the few journos I respect... He's pretty accurate... Surprised he didn't ask that question and any sell on clauses etc

Was at two of the pre season games thought the trialist Aaron was alot better than mcpake in both games we should of signed him instead 

Don't think max,c smith and m smith are good enough to play in premiership 

  Think saints would look better with 4 2 3 1 formation  with Sven and Essel protection and distribution in the middle

It's unbelievable that McPake was signed after Levein had seen him in training for weeks.

It's unbelievable that McPherson was signed given his injury history and performances when he has played.

I don't get what the rush was to give McPake a two year contract. Why not field him as a trialist during these summer games and see how he does? If he'd come out absolutely flying, then snap him up. But if not, look at other targets.

Maybe I'm missing something but he seems to have generally spent his career as a winger, which indicated to me that maybe Levein wanted to use wingers this season, but that doesn't seem to be the plan at all. 

When you look at McPake's CV so far and the fact that he was most recently playing in League One and apparently not particularly standing out even at that level, I bet the guy can't believe his luck to have been handed a two-year deal by a Premiership club.

That's the thing. At the very minimum he should be played in his preferred position.

 

It absolutely boils my piss when someone is shunted into a position they aren't comfortable in.

That's fair enough, but he could still have been played as a trialist in the friendly matches.

From what we played on Saturday, and with the manager wanting a winger and a centre back, I wonder if the squad is now looking like this:

Cameron must be wondering what he has let himself in for!

Guaranteed to get 'injured' in a few weeks time, and 'forced' to return to Notts County.

Cracking goal that saved our day against the mighty Brechin City, the lowest ranked team.
