Yes, Naismith has already said that Kirk was below 17 year-old Wilson in the pecking order and nowhere near being in contention for a start.

I’m all for being supportive of a new player doing something positive in one of his first two appearances rather than using it to point-score against people who had their doubts about the signing. Vice-versa, it achieves nothing for others to point-score when he invariably has a poor performance either. In a few months’ time, we’ll maybe be able to gauge whether Kirk has been a successful signing or not. I hope he is.

This is what has shaped my stance on this. Before those final games I wouldn't have made a case for him staying but his energy and movement played a big part in giving us enough to get over the line.

I think the confusion is the idea he should only be judged on goals and against the other centre forwards we have. No, this is exactly my thinking. May instead of almost any of our midfielders would be fine.

This is where the mind plays tricks a bit. May only started in the Livingston game where he was effective for half an hour then faded and then the Ross County game after that where he was hooked just after half time after making no impression. In the other games he only played about 45 minutes over 5/6 games. 

As others have said, let's not kid ourselves that he should fill any the gaps in the team. Shoehorning May into the team is not the answer.

IF Stevie May can get a move that suits him and goes then while I ll be sad see him go I’d also be happy for him.

He has a contract for this season with us though and another team has to make the money right for it to make sense he goes, I imagine a 2 year deal would get him interested, or Saints pay him off, by paying him off we have no extra money for wages anyway.

I don’t believe we are hearing the truth, if only reason May needs to go is to let us sign someone else, does the money we ll make from Rangers cup tie not likely more than cover Mays wages.

What I don’t want to see is him frozen out, Saints are paying him, at least put him on the bench, Sentiment aside, I’m not sure I could justify starting him but I defo would have brought him on on Saturday before Max.

as opposed to what?  Not having a quality keeper for every other game. Need to look at the bigger picture. This option works for a reason. We wouldn't expect to get anything against them anyway. Not like a game against Well or County which are 6 pointers.

As opposed to signing someone else who can play in those games? I'm not saying you don't sign the guy based on that, but I do think if there are other options available then it should be one of the factors you take into consideration.

Seen a few people recently suggest that those games against the OF aren't important and I'm not sure I agree. The OF always drop a few points each season to the teams around us and in such a tight league that can make a big difference.

Agree, why are we giving rival teams players game time when they won't even play him off the bench in a friendly against Fleetwood after a disastrous 20 mins against Spurs.

Is he really any better than Olufunwa , we will never know as Levein doesn't rate Olufunwa and doubt it he will ever get the chance.

Or you could argue it’s a very cheap squad filler with a young relatively promising young player looking to prove himself that can play 2/3 different positions.

Free’s up the remaining resources to be more focused on starting quality players.

What remaining resources? The managers admitted we're maxed out and only if players leave will other come in.

My pal supports the Thespians and said Lewis Neilson was good for them last year. Better in defence than midfield. Reminded him of Alan Hansen (obviously not that good). I also noticed Daily Record journalists have all tipped us to go down. Not part of the McInnes, Kettlewell, Robinson love in.
