SlickDT
Mooner is lost out wide... or he was when he was still playing in our reserves... Doris, is a possibility though... Thats a shame as I really feel Moons lack of height would mean he could get bullied out of games in the centre of midfield in the first division. Never seen Sheridan bullied! Mooner needed to put on a bit of beef, don't think height is too much of an issue... he may have pumped himself up a bit, not seen him in ages. Broon
Thats a shame as I really feel Moons lack of height would mean he could get bullied out of games in the centre of midfield in the first division. According to the Forfar fans Moon's a tough tackling battler in their midfield. If he can survive in the 2nd Division the pansies in the 1st will be a walk in the park
SlickDT
The fact about Sheridan is true and I suppose you have a good point, I just always thought he was more attack minded, thus would be a main target?
Saintkev
He kind of plays a holding role, but not based on his tackling, more for his vision and passing from that psoition, but he is not scared to get forward!

Cagey
Cowie has signed for Caley. He had the choice of signing for Saints or Caley & chose them because they were in SPL & at the time we looked like we were def` in Ist.

blueheaven
Isn't it the case that McInnes will definitely be here next season because of a clause in his contract stating he'd get an automatic extension if he played a certain amount of games? I'm sure he himself spoke about it in one of the papers.
Rodgers
apart from christies view on the contracts everyone has said they would only give stanic a 1year deal, whats the crack with that? hes been player of the season for the past two seasons!! id give him at LEAST a 2year deal! Obviously if mcinnes wants to stay

I'm sure he himself spoke about it in one of the papers. There is a clause in his contract that if he played a certain amount of games then he's entitled to an extension. The Courier suggests that he's about to sign a 1 year deal with us and judging by his comments after the game, he's not planning on moving on
Kyle
With the spirit in the squad being as it is, I'd be very surprised if all the players being offered a new contract didn't sign it. Obvious exception being Jason, of course. My view on the matter seems to change every time this topic comes up! Lilley, Janny and Halliwell I'd get rid of straight off. No doubts. Lilley hasn't done too badly considering he's only had bits and pieces of games. But I feel we can get better than him. the rest.... lemme see Bryn Halliwell (26) - 2007 -> Release Kevin James (31) - 2007 -> 2 years. He's almost a given. Goran Stanic (34) - 2007 -> 1 year Steven Anderson (21) - 2007 -> 2/3 years. He's a cracking player Willie Dyer (19) - 2007 -> 1 year. Last chance saloon I feel for him at saints Paul Sheerin (32) - 2007 -> 1 year... although, wouldn't be adverse to 2 years! Neil Janczyk (23) - 2007 -> Release Simon Mensing (24) - 2007 -> 3 years. His versatility makes him a very important squad member Derek McInnes (35) - 2007 -> 1 year. He's done quite well for us Filipe Morais (21) - 2007 -> If we can get him, then 2 years. Jason Scotland (27) - 2007 -> Anything he's willing to sign. Jackson (19) - 2007 -> 1 year Derek Lilley (32) - 2007 -> release Kevin Moon (19) - 2007 -> 1 year. Been getting good reports from what I've heard! Steven Doris (18) - 2007 -> 1 year. Played really well in a holding midfield role in one of the games I saw! Neil McCallum (19) - 2007 -> Being honest, I have no idea.

Hazel1884
Would Sheerin maybe depend on who the SPL team is? Is he not quite settled in Perth with his kid (kids?) attending local schools and things? Mind you, i suppose players will travel in an Andy Lawrie stylee!
Joey
I think that Sheerin is settled in Perth and with his kids in the equation and the fact that he is coming to the end of his career you would hope that a sound grounding for his family as well as a bit of loyalty towards Saints would see his staying at the club. Is loyalty though something that happens in the modern game?

Is loyalty though something that happens in the modern game? I think you could just as easily say that, as he's coming to the end of his career, this summer is probably his last chance to (a) make as much money as he can for himself and his family, and ( give the SPL another crack. Loyalty doesn't come into it. Paul Sheerin doesn't owe Saints any loyalty. We've given him contracts, and he's served us well throughout them - both parties benefitted out of it, as it should be. If Sheerin had been playing poorly or picked up a lot of injuries, we'd be releasing him right now - we wouldn't be complaining about Saints not showing him any loyalty. +Super Trooper+
Sheerin has been a big player for us over the last few years, scoring lots of goals (not so much recently) and would be missed terribly.

StDuncM
So if we exclude the full time youth players, the average age of the 19 players in the First Team squad is 28 which aint bad considering. When I first looked at the ages of some I thought the average age would have been higher. That said, much of the defence and midfield are approaching veteran status!
Cagey
Have non of these young guys not signed yet ?. I am sure Coyle will sign another couple of players yet but if he doesn`t manage to I would be happy with a couple of these guys in the pool. If they have not resigned & we don`t manage to pick up a couple of good midfielders then we could struggle this season.
