If rumours are true Liam Gordon is heading down south.deserves it football is a short career.

Who would everyone want for the captain probably Mitov would be my first choice but think he'll be away before the transfer window end's.

I'd go for Sven think out of everyone else always plays 100 percent seems to enjoy playing for saints.

Mitov would be good right enough, but there's always the chance he could be off.

If McGowan stayed, then Levein might be inclined to go with him.

I personally would be another who wouldn't mind Sprangler to be honest.

I remember at Pittodrie last year, Robinson had just made a mistake and had everybody screaming at him.

Sven though, just applauded his effort and calmly told him what he should have done instead.

I was impressed by that, and I think it shows leadership qualities if you can stay calm and be a positive influence, when all around are losing it.

Also, I bet he'd absolutely love it.

Yeah, my vote's with Sprangler.

Would it be the first time we'd have an Austrian captain?

I may be wrong but I don't think Sekerlioglu ever had the armband.

Captain will be picked when the squad is finalised and will likely be a new signing.  The players who are confirmed as staying are not captain material and the ones who are borderline if they are staying or not will probably not play enough minutes to be captain.

- Someone with leadership qualities

- Someone who will be a regular starter

- Someone who the squad respect

- Someone who trains well and sets a certain standard

- Someone who has a decent relationship (or understand at least) with the management team

I genuinely can’t think of anyone!!

I feel we should sign someone new to be captain. Partly because I can't see any obvious candidates among the squad, and partly just because I feel an outside voice would be beneficial for helping to take us in a new direction.

That means it would probably have to be someone Levein already knows pretty well and has probably worked with in the past.

Doesn't feel a very commonly done thing for a club to sign a new player specifically to be captain. I do remember Sturrock doing it with Jim Weir but that was a long time ago now.

I think this is most likely. Levein will bring in an experienced defender or 'keeper who he knows well to be captain

I guess we are going down the journeyman route again, having no reserves footy kills a club like ours, there could be natural leaders in our younger brigade but unless they get sent out on loan, they get limited footy on the park.

Loosing Gowser, considine, Gordon Mitov and Dan we've lost a lot of leaders in that dressing room.

We need to sign players players with great experience to help the younger ones through games otherwise we'll be in another relegation battle

Unless there is a significant investment in better quality, you can pretty much guarantee that it will be another relegation scrap.
