Walkout music vote

Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things but....all a bit cliché and not really connected to the club at all

I mean an upbeat version of oh when the saints is pretty much a shootie in here....we have music students just down the road, could of set them a wee competition to come up with an update version?..mind you we don't do open goals, so there is that

Plus it's what we used to play when I was a kid going to the games and I miss it 🤣

Something like this

The five songs are:

"Thunderstruck" by AC/DC

"Club Foot" by Kasabian

"Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns N' Roses

"Enter Sandman" by Metallica

"Lose Yourself" by Eminem

None of those songs connect with me in anyway, more what I’d expect at Ice hockey.

A version of some kind of “ oh when the Saints “, wouldn’t be adverse to a decent bagpipe version with no words or the Skids “ the Saints are coming “ are only two options for me.

Chelsea Dagger after half time needs dropped for ever, was only relevant for Jody Morris.

That said, I’m in East Stand, they can play whatever, it will all sound the same until they put in proper speakers.

Can’t believe u2 and greenday the saints are coming isn’t even in the top 5

Strange that neither the original nor the cover are on there.

They used to play When The Saints Go Marching In, by Fats Domino In the 1990s. In my opinion the best ever version.

It good but not exactly rousing 😁

The five choices all feel a bit out of place for Saints and will they even carry any weight on the existing PA?

Do they have "none of the above" option? I know it's all about personal taste but none of these have any saints connection.

Thunderstruck is fine but it takes an age to get going. If it's going to be AC/DC then Back In Black or Highway To Hell would be better choices in my opinion.

What about X Ambassadors and Jungle? Overdone I suppose, but that's for a reason.

The Saints Are Coming as long as it's the original Skids version. I know we now have American DNA, but I'd rather have the original Fifers rather than that Green day lot from over the pond.

For me, I'd go for the original "Oh When The Saints" instrumental that was played at Muirton when I was a young thing. Stick with it, it's timeless.

If not, we do exactly as Wisconsin do here with House Of Pain and Jump Around.

Would the padded seats attendees jump around?

Glad someone remembers that tune .

In agreement with you i would vote for that one .

i don’t know who it was by .in any case they probably don’t have a record player .it likely only come oot on vinyl .

I'm all for changing this stuff and finding something new but these all just seem a bit arbitrary and nothing to do with Saints. There are probably sports teams all over the world using these songs as they're so generic and overplayed.

I'd have liked to see the fans get the chance to actually suggest songs, rather than just voting from someone else's choice. Personally I'd go for What is Love by Haddaway. It's a song our fans have sung in the past, it's upbeat and it'd be completely unique to Saints.

Eagles Feather by Logan Gilmartin is literally a St Johnstone song, but maybe better as a half time song than a kick off song?

Find it a bit odd they basically used this for one game then dropped it. Think it’d be ideal for the time in between the players going back inside and them coming out for kick off.

OK so if I had the job of choosing run-out music for Saints, I'd probably start off by trying to come up with a few lists of songs that might be relevant or appropriate in some way or another, e.g.

Songs that are literally about Saints arriving somewhere
- When the Saints Go Marching In - Louis Armstrong
- The Saints Are Coming - The Skids
- The Saints Are Coming - U2 & Green Day

Songs that are about St Johnstone
- Eagle's Feather - Logan Gilmartin
- Down to the Wire - Skyfoss
- Fair Maid - The Shrugs

Songs by local bands or Saints fans
- Feels Like Heaven - Fiction Factory

Songs the fans already sing or have adopted in some way
- Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
- Give It Up - KC and The Sunshine Band
- What Is Love - Haddaway
- Party All the Time - Eddie Murphy
- Pump It Up - Danzel

Then I'd go through those lists and rule out anything that was slow or acoustic (feel it needs to be loud and a bit up-tempo for run-out music). I'd get rid of Sweet Caroline because it's been hijacked by England (even though it was bloody brilliant at the Galatasaray game). And I'd get rid of U2 & Green Day because there's no chance I'm voluntarily subjecting myself to listening to Bono every week.

That'd probably whittle it down to about six or seven songs that could either be rotated, voted on by fans or maybe cut together in some way.

I'd also have all of the above songs rotating regularly in and out of the playlist for pre-match/half-time/post-match, because the music played at the moment is generally all just a bit weird and random.

Might be some I've missed off the list but I reckon this would be a better direction for the club to go in, as opposed to generic rock songs that have no relevance to our club or fan culture at all.
