I don't want to stick up for him but is one of the two defenders not one that Levein had started the process of signing?

Douglas and Mikulic.

We do have that guy from Ghana on trial that Levein was talking to though.

Neither are. Douglas was never mentioned, publicly at least, until Valakari was hired and has said it was talking to him that helped convince him to join.

Mikulic is a total Valakari signing too you'd think, due to managing him before.

Dennis Korsah was the last known Levein target and he's not signed (yet), and is just on trial.

Manager keeping clelland and Kirk and Marshall

Happy enough with that

Due to the negativity surrounding Levein/Kirk I would have gladly seen Kirk gone once Simo was in the dugout. The manager is happy enough keeping him then I'm fine with that,I trust his judgement over my opinion.

Safe (and cheapest option) after splashing out on Simo!

It would have the Dinosaur who was holding both of them, and Saints, back.

Win, or even a decent draw, away to the Fakes and a corner will have turned.

Interview (Free view) with Fran Smith on Saints TV today.

Really good watch and it's great to see the club posting these sorts of videos so that we can 'meet' these guys and hear about what they're doing. So refreshing to be able to hear about what's being planned, instead of everything being shrouded in secrecy.

One thing I picked up on was the plan to put a small stand by the astroturf pitch so that the women's team can use it as their home ground. That was one of the ideas I sent to Adam Webb when he first arrived and think it makes so much sense as a way of getting more out of that facility. Really looking forward to seeing all of these developments happen.

There's also a new podcast out called "The Spoony Chop". It's Eric Nicolson, Sean Hamilton and Stuart Cosgrove.

First episode was no bad.

Good to see them back again and have a Saints podcast. Haven't listened to "Courier talking football " since the Dundee lot took over.

Aye. The biggest draw with this one is no Jim Spence. Who is obviously too busy now writing his angry old fud opinion pieces.

Nobody to tell us that the league table doesn’t lie now, though.

Good to get the Courier podcast back again.

I didn't mind the old talking football one to be honest, because it was good to hear about the other local teams as well.

One thing though, and I realise this is a personal preference, but could it also be uploaded to YouTube please?

It doesn't have to be an in vision show like the twa teams, but even just the audio only with a graphic.

It's just how I happen to listen or watch podcasts.

I can't be bothered downloading and setting up yet another app on my phone.

I've used Spotify before, but unless you pay the monthly fee, it can be annoying.

I'm sure Eric reads this, so this is a polite request. 🙂

Actually, while I'm on the subject, it would help if Dogger Saints did the same. 👍

How many people does a container stand hold.

Will Saints sell enough merchandise to pay the rent and staff  of a shop in the city centre ?.

Can be between 300-1000 depending on what size you’re looking at.

Seems a decent idea, stand on one side, stand behind. Get a wee pie hut and you’re good to go.

Sounds good.

I've seen some absolutely tiny ones at a few non-league grounds in England that probably only hold about 20 or so people. There are others that can basically take up the whole width of the pitch behind a goal. If you Google 'container stand' you can see some pictures of how much they can vary in terms of size and quality.

I'd have thought Saints would want at least a few hundred seats to make it worthwhile?

Can't see a shop surviving long in the town TBH. But it would be good if they incorporated some sort of museum/memory lane feature into any sort of premises they do establish.

Totally agree - I think in order for it to work and draw people in it probably needs to be more than just a shop. But if it could host things like signings and meet the player events for kids, and maybe some displays/exhibitions like you suggest, then maybe it could be something that could potentially work.

A few years ago when I was on holiday I went to the Palermo club shop, and they had an upstairs area that they'd dedicated to displaying all their old kits from down the years. Something like that would be good to see.

Hmmm….making his 26 year old son part of the coaching tea

Nepotism. Not sure it's a good idea.

Mind you being in a foreign country and having someone to confide in might be a good thing. Just depends how it sits with players.

Think he's been involved in training for a couple of weeks now. If you look back at the photos of Simo when he was sitting in the stand with Barry Douglas, Paavo's sitting on the other side of him in club training gear.
