And tried his best to get rid of Sven.  He was truely one of our worst ever managers

According to the poll almost a third of Saints fans didn't want him sacked.

Don't want to open up the debate again but can't understand why he was not sacked at end of last season.

I believe Geoff has admitted it was a mistake to hire him. It was almost as big a mistake not to sack him.

We will never know how we would have faired had someone else been given the gig. At least we are in a position to move forward now without too much damage done.

Sidibehs played more often than not, and hasn't missed out a game by choice, since Valakari came in.

He was subbed & was annoyed about it, & then missed the last game. Plus he’s just done an interview saying how competition for places is important (presumably under duress from the manager)!

He's played in every game possible under Valakari.

I don't know that equals "one and a half games not playing"

Still not sure how that adds up to "one and half games not playing"

I think you're taking the manager's turn of phrase a bit literally there. If a player gets subbed off in one game and then doesn't start the next one, I don't think it would be considered weird to hear that loosely described as missing "one and a half games".

As @Linky says, the fact that Sidibeh has suddenly appeared on Saints TV talking about this very subject feels a little timely as well.

Sidibeh - plays virtually every minute under Valakari until the Kilmarnock game where he still plays over half an hour.

MacPherson - 8 min, 32 min, 45 min, dropped completely, under Valakari.

Who's more likely to have an agent complaining they "aren't playing" under the new manager?

MacPherson also ticks the box about "a game and a half" missing.

I still think Sidibeh's agent is more likely to complain, especially given what happened over the summer. The fact that Sidibeh has played regularly under Valakari and was only briefly dropped points even more towards it being him, as I think that's the point Valakari was making (i.e. that it's a player who's only been out of the team for a very short period and yet they've already had their agent complaining about it).

MacPherson's lucky to even be here and I think he probably knows that, given what's happened this season. He's rarely been a player who starts every week for us, and supposedly he's injured now anyway (though I'm not 100% sure I believe that). I just don't see it as likely that he'd have his agent making a fuss and trying to make demands, given the position he's in.

Yes, MacPherson knows he's not going to be a starter and he's never been a consistent one under any of the managers whilst he been here. Why suddenly complain now? If his agent complained every time he missed a game over the years he's been here, then he'd be calling the manager every month.

1) Sidebeh has a very proactive agent who puts stuff in the media etc; 2) He just did an interview talking about 'competition for places' - seems a bit of a coincidence; 3) He did an interview in the summer where he wasn't overly enamoured with being here and seemed to think he was destined for a move to higher things; 4) he's been annoyed before when subbed; 5) he was subbed off (half a game), then didn't start the next one (game), add them together and it's "a game and a half not playing" - not literally as this is a turn of phrase.

I don't like MacPherson, but it really doesn't stack up that it's him when you look at it.

List of players who have a contract will end this summer. Therefore in January will know one way or another whether they are being kept. Quite a few interesting names across the league that I would hope we are thinking about offering a pre contract to in January with a view to them coming now or bolstering our depleted squad in the summer.

Red = get rid

Green = keep

Blank = Unlikely to change anything either way so probably best to try and upgrade

Of the players out of contract at other clubs I’d hope we are looking at:

Jamie McGrath(Aberdeen), Lyall Cameron, Josh Mulligan, Scott Tiffoney(all Dundee), Ross Docherty, Kevin Holt(both Dundee United), Chris Cadden, Jake Doyle-Hayes(Both Hibs), Danny Armstrong, Robbie Deas(Both Killie), Harry Paton(Motherwell).

Some likely to be out of our wage bracket but offloading the likes of Stevie May and Cammy MacPherson will free up some serious wages as well as a promised cash injection from America.

Think it’s unlikely any of our incoming players will be from the uk

I think you are correct to assume that Simo will try to utilise his contacts abroad but he will also be streetwise enough to know that players who have experience in this league should be part of the squad he builds.
