January 2025 Transfer Window

Not so sure the recent animosity towards Benji is warranted. Yeah his performances have dipped and he's looking to get a move but he's been a grear asset for us and has provided some much needed excitement after the barren years.

If he gets the deal he wants then fair play to him, if he stays then so long as he puts the graft in the great.

We need ambitious players, either ones who want to achieve at Saints or ones that want to improve to the point where they move on.

We've had plenty "loyal" sh*tebags stealing a wage over the years...Crawford and Cami spring to mind.

I'd much rather have a Benji, Adama, Kerr or McCann for a short term than absolute wasters plodding along being happy with mediocrity.

Anyway this window has been, on paper, much better than could be expected, there's obviously been some shakeup behind the scenes.

Has anyone ever seen the lesser spotted Uche Ikpeazu at McD since he was 'recruited', or is he still avoiding mishaps at home?

Ā

Only going by rumours, but I believe Saints have forked out for non slip carpets throughout his home, along with bubblewrapping everything that has potential sharp edges. Just in caseĀ

Very well said. Some of the criticism I've seen of the guy online has been miles over the top.Ā He came in, scored a good number of goals, helped us pick up a some vital points, and was one of the few players to bring a bit of joy and hope to a period that has been largely awful to sit through. Now his form's dipped a bit (coinciding, I think, with being played out of position), but we always knew we weren't exactly getting Pele. He's slipped pretty far down the pecking order now, but I don't really see where all the vitriol is coming from. And if we still manage to get a fee for him before the window closes then brilliant.

Edited to add: Personally I don't even feel we urgently need to replace him if he goes. I'd prefer to see any fee invested in other areas of the team, or even just pocketed to help the club in the future.

Sanders confirmed for Ā£150k,decent money

It's more than decent money. It's a robbery.

He'll probably do okay down there but maybe not, his time up here so hard to judge because what we were comparing him against was so bad.

Iā€™ll have to disagree with you. I thought Sanders was a standout and if he was in a decent defence he really would have been in demand. I think heā€™ll go on to bigger things and good luck to him.

In a better defence he wouldn't be playing.

I'd recommend you watch the game we chucked v St Mirren and focus on him. Needlessly dragged wide even though Clark had it covered, leaving his man completely free in the box. There's been at least 3 goals conceded at pivotal moments because he's like a dog who simply cannot stop himself being dragged toward the ball.

If we had a decent defence, Sanders wouldn't even have been playing! He's a 25 year old who still makes basic errors that competent centrebacks simply don't make. The fact he was one of our better players, tells you how far the standards have dropped at saints in recent seasons. I'd be having a poor Liam Gordon in ahead of him put it that way. He may progress, but I doubt it'll ever be past the lower leagues in England. I didn't mind him, but lets face it he's a fraction of the player the likes of Kerr, McCart, Wright, Ando were, it's not even close.Ā Ā

Sanders is like night and day from when he joined us. I was hoping he would kick on even further under Simon and be part of the spine of future teams but no way we could have turnedĀ  down Ā£150 k as going by hd alleged sicky,he probably would have switched.

I think there has been fewer mistakes by him recently.

Watch the EPL every week and you will see highly paid defenders make mistakes every week. So expecting Saints players to go through a game without is for the birds .

Its all relative though isn't it? Those CBs are playing against some of the most clinical attackers on the planet with millions watching them.

Couldnā€™t agree personal terms.

But why? Surely, from his point of view, he's going to be paid more and not going to have a relegation on his CV. His stock is higher now than it'll be at the end of the season. Unless, I suppose, he's accepting an existing pre-contract instead.

Never underestimate how daft a footballer or their agent is.

Someone else probably offered him more. He can speak to any club on the planet just now without them having to pay us a fee, why give us Ā£200k to get him now when you could give him Ā£50k and get him in 5 months time.
