St Mirren v Saintees 30/10

Our pass back first mentality is very frustrating at times, I’d love to see the stats of how many passes went back first, we looked good going forward in the first half then we were second best to everything in the second half.

This league is so even other then the top three teams so today feels like three points dropped after our last two games, I hope Simo had his contacts looking for a keeper for us as no 1 priority.

All the good work is/will be undone with the poor defence and goalkeepers.   Back to 4 at the back?

Surely we didn't go back to 3 at the back after the success in the last 2 games.

At least Neilson won't be playing on Saturday and hopefully never again for Saints.

Don't mind the passing about as we're becoming better at retaining possession that way. The problem as we've seen is that if we've not capitalised on it in terms of goal(s) then the slightest mistake will punish us.

I'm mainly just annoyed about having to watch so many goals get disallowed each week (and not even just Saints goals). It really is ruining the game. Some of the decisions seem right and some seem wrong but only after re-watching over and over again in minute detail. It just feels pointless and I wish VAR could be completely ditched as it has improved nothing. I'd rather have refs make human errors than have all the joy sucked out of goals in the way it has been. It would be really interesting to see what the clubs would do if there was another vote on it, as Adam Webb has already indicated Saints would probably be inclined to vote against it.

Obviously a disappointing result but it really does feel like we're progressing so on the whole I'm fine with it. St Mirren are a good bit ahead of us in what their manager has built there and you could see that in the way they took the game by the scruff of the neck last night, but I think Saints will get there, and that's a big change to how I saw our future panning out a month or so ago.

I think more positives than negatives.

Expecting the Hearts game on Saturday to be a really good game.

Var is for the armchair watchers and not for supporters going to the game. It kills the enjoyment of scoring when you’re there, as you’re waiting for the inevitable Var. The Dundee game was nearly the final straw for me, if you can’t decide after 5 minutes sitting in a studio how can the referee who has already given the goal be expected to change anything.

Adama's goal looked OK to me. Very Harsh to be struck off.

A really good finish to be ruled out due to their defender falling over and changed the game.

Unfortunately  I think Alan Muir is on VAR again on Saturday.

VAR is terrible and ruins the game. You never know whether to really celebrate a goal because it might be chalked off, and then, when you do it's so long afterwards that it's muted and the game has lost the flow. It turns what should be an art into a science.

We were good in the first half, and then they were just too much in the second. The play a very hard press, and high tempo. For all Genji's trickery and finishing he was caught on the ball twice and it cost us.

Cameron was obviously offside for one of the goals, but I saw no problem with Sidebeh's, the defender just fell with very little contact. Their striker dived twice and nothing happened, they got a goal after the first one. I can see why Nicky Clark was so angry about that.

I thought the two CBs were ok actually. Cameron had his best game for us too, and is definitely better on that left side. I really want the GK to work out for us, as a homegrown player, but it just isn't. He really struggles at this level.

VAR decision making, down here in England, seems to have improved this season, and been speeded up as well. There have been some games where a wrong call has been made, or took too long, but I think Howard Webb has made a difference.

Some of the Scottish games have been spoiled by VAR getting involved when they should not. Mind you that might have something to do with the poor standard of many of the on field decision makers.

I have never been so sure that Cameron is not a centre back than I was watching him last night.
