Rating Our Transfer Window

Now that’s it’s closed, how would everyone rate our window?

Positives

We addressed all of our major issues minus a striker.

We got some decent coin for Sanders and Dair

Negatives

We missed out on some cash for Benji and we didn’t sign Eremenko

Overall I would give our window a grade of A.

Right now our table position is grave but the feeling now in my opinion is we are ready to roll for the remainder of the season.

Hard to give a full assessment until I've seen the 2 new centre backs play. But the players so far seem to, at worst, be up for the fight and have a great attitude. However I genuinely think the players brought in improve the team and give much more balance.

Given the situation we are in those working on recruitment deserve a fair amount of praise. Only one signing you could call a punt.

I think we're stronger now than we were at the start of it.

I like the Watt signing. I think he's quality and look forward to seeing him make a real impression on the team.

I'm also excited for Balodis and Svedberg. Again, both quality signings at a good age with good experience.

Those signings would have been a good window by themselves, but we've also added a new, and very good keeper.

Zach Mitchell comes very highly regarded, and we now have the grand total of three centre backs at our disposal. This will free up Drey to become ball boy. 😜

I think people are too quick to bring down Duke-McKenna. Let's give the boy a chance, and the few videos I've seen of him, he looks like he has an attacking mentality and his natural position is attacking midfield.

So tucked in behind the strikers or out on the wings, he's a very handy option to have.

He also has played at a top level and has 26 caps for his country. He's exactly the kind of player we've always made a success of. He might have lost his way a bit for whatever reason, but now has the opportunity with us to get back on track.

It seems that there was one more to come but fell at the last minute. Montgomery maybe?

There's no doubt in my mind that we've had the best window of all the sides in the bottom 6. None of them seem to have strengthened at all.

For who we are, and where we are, I think this has been an excellent window.

We can now go into the months ahead with optimism. We don't have that "bottom of the league" stench about us anymore.

The clubs above us will be getting nervy and looking over their shoulders.

And for my money, the two who should be most worried, are the two that play in dark blue.

We needed to improve at GK, CB, CM and out wide, before the window opened.

I'd argue they managed all that even before the final day.

It could fail but I think the clubs given themselves every chance of staying up thanks to this window. Another left back/wing back and attacking player, probably would've been ideal but Raymond and Kimpioka aren't shit options to have to use so it's not a fatal problem not signing anyone new there.

The "spine" of the team looks a lot better than it did even just a few weeks ago.

Still a lot of unknowns and quite a few players brought in who we haven't even seen yet, but I don't think there's any doubt that we've strengthened to some extent. Griffith, Fisher and Curtis all look like really good signings to me and even if it's only those three who succeed here, they give us a better team than we had when the window opened.

I think the squad now, compared to the squad in December, is substantially stronger and more balanced, and the club deserve huge credit for delivering that while adrift at the foot of the table.  I think every player who has come in has spoken about the vision and enthusiasm of the manager and the sense of optimism around the whole club. The turnaround in how we clearly present ourself to potential players in the last few months has been staggering.

I think we've every chance of recovering this season.  As others have said, we maybe missed out on one or two big signings, but I think every other club in below the top 2 had a pretty underwhelming transfer window.

Lets hope the new guys settle in quickly and can make that difference we need. If we can keep this wee winning run going then the teams above will be worried. Just look at what a run can do for teams like Hibs and Hearts.

I think this season will go to the wire just like last season did.

Never a dull moment that's for sure.

Yeah, we probably had a few more options, but not getting that £200k would have stopped these happening.

If Kimpioka can get his finger out and make a contribution like he did earlier in the season, then that's all good.

He'll need to play well, and score regularly, to earn himself a move in the summer.

If we only have to be better than one team, then I think we've achieved that. I believe we are now a significantly better squad then County.

You could probably say the same about Motherwell, but I think they've already done enough. Having said that, they are in freefall.

I know it's all subjective, but we're maybe a bit better then Killie now.

And despite all the hype, Dundee are not winning enough and also seem to be on a downward trajectory.

That result at the weekend might have dunted their confidence as well.

There is definitely a clear path out of this place we find ourselves in.

The next few game are huge.

We need to keep the momentum going with a win in the cup. It'll be good for all the new signings to get their feet wet there before the league matches the following week.

Simo seems to like throwing them in at the deep end. And the sooner they get up to speed, the better.

Happy with the window, think the board need to be congratulated for backing the manager. we seem to have got the backbone of who the manager wanted and theres a couple of players could go either way. Definitely a better chance of staying up or coming straight back up if the worst happens

Now just announce a new deal for Sven
