No idea why Wright wasnt on from the start, but that second half was decent enough, Livi did nothing and we looked good defensively..... love to see that instant result from Carey coming off the bench, a good spot for him and that goal was something special.

Glad I missed first half!!

so give them 4 stands ? Take the cash 😗

Gives us a game in the break the week of the split.

We might get Celtic on a bad day and they have no Kayago.

Think Celtic might get 3 stands.

It wasn't as bad a performance as folk seem to be make it sound, IMO. Livingston just pressed really well, the pitch is (as always) greasy as ****, and Holt/Spangler struggled so the whole team did.

Valakari got the subs right and there only looked one winner after half time. Need to start nailing the final pass more as Carey might never score another like that. It was comfortable in the end though and not even a hint of folding under the late pressure.

I'd rather play Celtic in a Semi than a Final.

Surely it would better to meet them in final - odds of success just as slim but club improves finance significantly, commercial opportunities may arise and the possibility of Europe as loser ……assuming that’s still the case if you lose to the league winners ?

All hypothetical - they just need to give it their best shot.

More chance of beating them in a Semi, as stupid as that sounds. As far as i can see they've not lost a Final to anyone but Rangers since 1990. They've lost multiple Semis in that time.

Think you only get Europe if you win now.

@RandomGuy much the same thoughts when I saw the draw. Celtic at Hampden was the last good thing that happened to Saints in the Davidson era and beyond. Hopefully not this time, even if we don't progress in the cup.

The post match interview with Simon is glorious.

That boy Mitchell is some player.

Fisher was immense.

Carey was outa this world.

Bring it on.

Aye, Mitchell is some find. No way he's here after the summer. At 20 he looks like a veteran.

Fisher is exactly what we've needed, just a steady pair of hands. Some excellent saves tonight. If he'd played the whole season  we'd be way up the table.

Was never going to be easy and we plodded along but felt we always had enough to win it.

Carey changed the game completely....not just by scoring, totally different dynamic in midfield. Feel for Svedberg, not quite clicking. Some nice moments but needs to impose himself a bit more.

Did away with that in 2008 - Queen of the South were the last team to benefit from it. Only the winners can qualify for Europe, and if they’ve already done so, the spare spot goes by league table.

He reminds me of prime Steven Anderson. Wins more one on one battles and seems to pick the right option on the ball more often than not.

Does anyone know the dimensions of that pitch, seemed awfy narrow to me?

 Livis pitch 100.5 x 69 meters

Ours is 105 x 68 meters

Considering Fisher was 3rd choice keeper at his parent club when he came to us, I think we have a potential player of the year there. He was outstanding last night and he must have been shaking his head at some of the antics his defence, and others, were getting up to in the first 45. Half time was a blessing.

Also Simo must take some credit for removing The Duke from the fray, as it looked like a red mist had descended after his booking.

Magnificent strike by the much maligned Graham Carey though. Considering the domestic strife he is going through, I do wonder how he manages to concentrate on the day job.

Work in progress, bring on Celtic.

Delighted with that result last night. Great boost financially for the club and will hopefully spur the players on in the games leading up to the semi final.

Its wasnt pretty, especially in the first half, but that type of game was a game that we would have lost earlier in the season. Players have shown much more resilience in recent weeks. Also been helped by some good additions in the transfer window. Andy Fisher continues to impress and his performances are improving every week. Swansea must have had some keepers over the years if their fans are labelling him as their "worst ever goalkeeper". Made such a difference to the team as a whole with his reassuring presence. Great distribution and has made some fantastic saves in recent weeks. Zach Mitchell is a class act. He looks like an experienced defender in the way he plays the game, yet has only turned 20 years old. If he can avoid injuries, I can see him playing at a higher level than Charlton in the future. Baldois is really settling into his game as well.

Jason Holt has played really well since coming back into the team. I am bit worried about Sven. He has been off form for quite a few games now and is looking sluggish. Careys goal up there with Preston against Hearts, Stanic against Hamilton and Craig against Dunfermline as one of the all time great St Johnstone long range goals. Outstanding.

I can understand people feeling a bit deflated by the fact that we have been drawn against Celtic, but as Simo and Barry Douglas said last night, these occasions don't come around all the time. Yes, we have been blessed over the years to have enjoyed so many special moments in the cup competitions and hopefully we will continue to do so, but we cant take our team getting to a Scottish Cup Semi Final for granted or not turn up as a support just because we have drawn against Celtic. The support has been superb in the last two away games. Would give the players such a lift if they could run out to a big Saints support at Hampden.

It may be Celtic, but it’s a semi final at Hampden. That as a minimum should really spur players on to compete for a starting berth… Benji looking at you.

Need to be positive about it, and use it as a huge boost going into the next 4/5 games.
