No idea why Wright wasnt on from the start, but that second half was decent enough, Livi did nothing and we looked good defensively..... love to see that instant result from Carey coming off the bench, a good spot for him and that goal was something special.

Glad I missed first half!!

I am sure Wright is carrying some kind of injury and Simo is trying to protect him.

Considering Fisher was 3rd choice keeper at his parent club when he came to us, I think we have a potential player of the year there. He was outstanding last night and he must have been shaking his head at some of the antics his defence, and others, were getting up to in the first 45. Half time was a blessing.

Also Simo must take some credit for removing The Duke from the fray, as it looked like a red mist had descended after his booking.

Magnificent strike by the much maligned Graham Carey though. Considering the domestic strife he is going through, I do wonder how he manages to concentrate on the day job.

Work in progress, bring on Celtic.

I think Duke was getting some rough treatment from their right back and it was him that was fouled when he got booked. I think Simo took him off more because he was on a booking than tactical.

Jason Holt has played really well since coming back into the team. I am bit worried about Sven. He has been off form for quite a few games now and is looking sluggish. Careys goal up there with Preston against Hearts, Stanic against Hamilton and Craig against Dunfermline as one of the all time great St Johnstone long range goals. Outstanding.

...and Danny Swanson at Celtic!!

I don't share the view that we didn't play all that well last night. I thought Livi came at us early on and were creating chances. We withstood a pretty decent team and were squaring up to robust challenges that the team early in the season were shying away from. We looked organised at the back but we were guilty of letting Livi push up too much even though we looked dangerous on the break. We looked much more settled in the second half and on a decent pitch we could have been well out of sight.

There was some good performances too - Holt again looks accomplished and tidy in midfield, I totally disagree that Sven didn't play well - he was again in the thick of of the action breaking up the Liv threat and settling the game down. He might not have had a great game but he's a leader. The defence looks like it's on the same page and Douglas looked class - fringe players excell at Saints and it's our best advert for getting players warming the bench at higher divisons to Perth.

Got to single out the Goalie Fisher! Consdering he's only been here a few weeks he looks top class and reads the game well. He's also enjoying his football and playing for the badge. I have to give Simo immense credit for forging this team spirit.

Agree with a fair few points on here.

Fisher has brought back confidence to the defence and the diving save where he not only pawed it away from goal but managed to get it away from the six yard box is a sign of quality. One we so badly needed!

Holt plays a lot of backwards/sideways passes, but never shies away and his best pass last night was to Carey. The weight and direction were perfect and gave the man enough time to set himself up nice and relaxed then proceed to score an absolute howitzer of a winner.
For most Saints fans the angle of the view was absolutely 👌🏻too.

Sven looked more like a leader as the game went on and broke up play so many times near the end with a clever interception and block here and there.

Having Wright on at halftime was a huge boost, even if the good chance he had almost left the stadium!

Douglas might not play every game, but I think we’ll see how important his experience is in the next few weeks and months.

Simo’s passion is contagious and I hope he pulls off the great escape.

COYS!
