Saints17 Posted April 12 Report Share Posted April 12 We aren’t good enough. No strikers that can link the play and get us up the pitch. Not enough forward drive in midfield. Not streetwise enough. Manager not using tactics that suit the players at his disposal - passing out from the back is a myth for the majority of teams at most levels of football - I’m not sure what our plan is when we do it. No plan B. A weak surrender today for a team meant to be fighting for survival. Fans of other clubs absolutely hated a lot of our heroes in the TW era because they could, and would, fight for literally every ball and every decision. It must've been a nightmare playing against some of them. Saints17 Posted April 12 Report Share Posted April 12 When United went down they signed Gallagher, Holt, Docherty etc. Experienced, steady players who can do a good job in both divisions for you. We really need to get back to basics and make sensible signings in a similar fashion. Far too many punts and project players in our squad. You always want a bit of selfishness in Strikers but too often there's no game intelligence, just all chasing the next contract. Goal is shocking, absolutely shocking, yet another gift..no idea what technique Douglas is employing, looks like a scared attempt to be honest, no conviction. We're not winning 4 of the last 5, just isn't happening. Season was blown letting it slip against St Mirren...yet another goalkeeping howler to let them back in. Hopefully we can romp the championship with a string of decent signings. I've been very critical of McPake (don't think I was quite over his performance at Alloa) but highlights showed him in a really good light. May be useful in the lower tier. Ederson with another assist today for Man City. Isn’t football a simple game made complicated? Saw Petr Czech recently baffled by the pass pass passing style of modern football. He was taught to launch the ball up to Drogba and within 2 seconds they’d be in the opponents box. Made a great point about 50 passes and 15 heart attacks in the stadium later and most teams still haven’t touched the ball in their opponents half. For all the lovers of Simoball it’ll ultimately be our undoing and I hated playing against long ball teams when I was younger, but…it works and is far more effective than what we’re trying. End of.
