St Johnstone Vs Celtic - Hampden - 20/4/2025

So, here we go. Another semi final for our club. Only two wins in this competition away from Scottish Cup glory and European football next season! Got to enjoy moments like this. Many clubs of our size have not been at Hampden for years (looking at you Dundee!).

As always against Celtic, it will be tough, but we showed a couple of weeks ago that a win against them is not unachievable. We really are down to the bare bones defensively. How do people see us lining up? Will Simo stick with the 4-4-2 that brought us success against Celtic the last time or do we move to 3 at the back? Will we see any changes? McPake impressed in his brief cameo at Tannadice last weekend and may come into the managers thinking to start the game. Mackenzie Kirk has struggled recently, will we see Clark or Kimpioka return to the starting line up?

I think we will start with the following team:

Fisher

Curtis Sprangler Balodis Douglas

Carey Holt Griffith Duke-McKenna

Clark Sidibeh

How are ticket sales looking @Ginger Bakers rebel army or @double deluxe?  I've seen mention of buses running from McDiarmid, The Bank Bar, The Mallard, Slainte and Jailers Tours.

C'mon you Saints!

Church on the Hill (16 Algie St, Shawlands, Glasgow G41 3DJ) seems to be getting mentioned as a popular place for Saints fans to meet before the match, if anyone is looking for a few drinks pre match and doesn't want to listen to Celtic fans conspiracy theories about the SFA being against them!

The game is not going to go our way. I said before the league game that I'd rather have the 3 points, because there's no way we'll beat them twice.

I'm taking my kids to experience the big day out at Hampden, but will be making sure they're prepared for a loss. I don't want the match to spoil a great day.

It's completely negative, I know, but pragmatic all the same. Look at the state of our squad. Decimated doesn't even come close. We'd need a miracle.

Just over 2,000 sold by Sunday lunchtime, a lot sold since then, hopefully we will get to 3,000 plus.

Really shit that we have a gap in the middle of our support.

Really shit we have no tickets 🎟️

No meant the gap

Same set up as 2021 semi final.

Singing section in sections A and remainder of support 30 to 40 yards away at far end of section P.

Section P started some singing but not much and did not join in with section A all the time as too far apart.

Some folk in section P crossed the divide to sit nearer section A but most stayed in P as it is a much better view of the pitch.

There will be a couple of thousand empty seats between the 2 groups of saints support.

Would rather have no gap and all saints fans together.

I assume it's done to give us two price options? I.e. the cheaper section in the corner, and the more expensive option closer to the middle. And it's harder for them to charge different prices if everyone's sitting together in the same area.

But yeah, it makes it even harder for Saints fans to make any collective noise which is a bit rubbish.

Agree, they could easily fit our support in sections P1 to P5 and we could all be together.

I just went onto the ticketing page and it said "Sales are now closed". So are they not even allowing people to make a late decision? Or is this some temporary glitch?

No info. on this from saints. Tickets should be available for another 48 hours.

Every away game this season has seen a lot of tickets sold in the last 2 or 3 days.

Hopefully announcement very shortly on how folk can still buy a ticket.

This is definitely a David against Goliath situation, better start getting the slings ready!
We had the audacity to poke the bear so I fear they will spare us no mercy.. I was a typical pessimistic Saints fan in the league game but think I’ve every reason to be even more pessimistic for this game.

Hoping against hope we can get a result but realistically if we can escape with no injuries and single figures I’ll be happy.

I think that 1-0 win is to our benefit, it's never really poking the bear, as on their average day they cuff us. The way they dismantled killie as an example, but maybe we give them a different look and a bit of doubt from our result? Every player at whatever level we have will be fired up and ready.

I think Fischer will need to be on fire and we need a spectacular goal from someone.

We always write ourselves off, like trained monkeys, but I'm 90 mins away from a flight home again and I'll enjoy every minute while we have a shot.

Saints are predictably unpredictable and I for one will be cheering the loudest and swinging my scarf the hardest should we manage a miracle… I say I’m a pessimistic but perhaps realist is more like it. We are a small squad, with injuries and players playing out of position so before we even kick a ball the odds are stacked against us…but hey 3 major trophies in 10 years! Perhaps we should command some respect
