New club badge

New badge looks fine, not that bothered what badge looks like if team is winning.

My two thoughts though, what’s the flag the lamb is carrying meant to be cos it’s no longer the St Andrews or Saltire cross cos it’s wrong way round.

My second thought is why not use a picture of the Main stand fans as a backdrop to launch it rather than the East that the board are happy to give over to Celtic fans to make a few £.

I’m not sure the flag itself matters in the iconography beyond it being a cross. Lamb holding a flag was always a symbol of St. John the Baptist, but the flag changes in different eras

Seems like you're no longer allowed to design club badges with saltires on it due to some heraldic nonsense around coat of arms.

Ayr were in bother around it years ago but got away with it because they'd been using their badge so long and it couldn't be confused for anything else.

Does anyone think looking at the above drawing that there is something wrong wi' the lamb's head? It looks a bit like a bird's head ! ?? Needs a slight alteration??

I think you're possibly looking at it the wrong way round? The lamb's head is facing to the right. The bit that I'm guessing you're possibly seeing as a bird's beak is its ear?

I really like the new badge, FWIW. I'm pleased to see the club doing this as I've felt it's been needed for a while. For quite some time now there have been several different versions of the badge being used and it's all needed to be brought into line and made consistent. This feels like a welcome refresh and modernization to me, and I like that they've done it without making any major changes. Nice job from the people at RYSE.

Edited to add: Love the addition of the halo to the lamb too. Really nice little touch.

Yeah there's some info about that here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34882922

Airdrie were forced to change their badge because of it at the time.

Agree with most of the positive comments. Tidy and consistent is good. However, as with stadium name, what lager is available, badge, big screen, etc., if it’s not happening on the pitch it’s not happening. Hope these initiatives can help generate marginal revenue to help the team.

I know that It's meant to be the ear but it is not distinct enough when compared to the likes of our Fair City's coat of arms. A minor embellishment would improve it!

I believe that having text on a shield was also an issue for the Lord Lyon's office. The club actually started using a version of the current crest, sans text on the shield for a while.

I have a copy of it somewhere, but it was certainly being used on merchandise for a while not long after the Ayr / Airdrie issue arose.

There was also a belief at the club they may have to swap to that permanently around that time.

More you see it, better it looks, I think. Definitely a grower.

Probably saves the club a fortune in printing costs while also giving the "new era" feel even more ammunition.

Chuffed.

Is it not an exact copy of the emblem on the Russian coat of arms.

Vladimir will.not be happy .
