glenrothes saintee Posted August 21, 2025 Report Posted August 21, 2025 Assuming there are no players out through injury and no players have been sold or left for any reason and no new or loan players in, then I’d start this game with the same starting 11 from the Partick Thistle game. Hopefully get a similar result and scoreline. sane_tee 1 Quote
PerthSaint01 Posted August 21, 2025 Report Posted August 21, 2025 Would expect a similar line up to the Thistle game. Expecting a very different game, Arbroath appear to be doing better than expectations and seem a solid enough side. Expecting a stuffy game. Quote

Yeah would be amazed if this went anywhere near the Partick score. They did get skelped by Ayr away from home in the league cup but then drew with them in Arbroath in the league. Far better home form but they will probably know what they are facing here and I would expect a defensive approach. I get the feeling the fans will need to be patient for this one. Quote
RandomGuy Posted August 21, 2025 Report Posted August 21, 2025 I think theyre trying to play more expansive football these days, theyre not the d*** Campbell Arbroath anymore. Still be good and a lot of experience down their spine, but they'll be finishing below the other Championship sides we've played so far. Ryan Flynn is key to them in midfield according to their fans, but picked up a knock so might not make this or be fully fit if he does. At 36, almost 37, youd selfishly hope that means hed struggle to reach a quick paced game if he starts. Cant fear these games but cant be cocky either. Hopefully being fairly dominated and then beaten last weekend help remind them that we aren't even close to where we want to be yet. garydavidson, PerthSaint01, SaintJet and 1 other 4 Quote

Zorro's 'tache Posted August 22, 2025 Report Posted August 22, 2025 Top of the table clash tomorrow and I’m fully expecting us to be victorious by at least two goals. We’ll create chances and hopefully an early one is converted to relax the players and crowd. Big Uche to come on and grab one to add to his incredible scoring record so far this season?🤔 Quote
templeofsaints Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 Gullane off injured after 10 mins. Hopefully not serious. Saints well in control though but another goal or 2 would be helpful garydavidson 1 Quote

Ginger Bakers rebel army Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 5 subs used with Kirk staying on the bench. Deal must be done. Great 3 points, fantastic start to the season. Quote
Linky Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 Nothing too flashy, but an easy win. Sometimes looked a bit dodgy with passing at the back. Hope Gullan isn’t out for too long. Holt MoM, although Sidebeh was very good. Tumilty perhaps a weak link at times. Zorro's 'tache 1 Quote
templeofsaints Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 Good win in the end. Glad to see Holt get a goal. Thought Svedberg did well when he came on and Adama and Diabate were excellent Quote

The amount of times Tumilty was in acres of space and Baird kept passing it to Diabe who wasn't as good as last week. Looks like they are playing to orders and it's bloody annoying. I don't think Arbroath will get relegated but they will struggle to get in play offs. County are doing well 🤣. Quote
Havana Saint Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 An absolute joy to watch today. The current Saints midfield is superb and the captaincy is totally bringing out the best in Holt. COYS! dave mc and Wendy Saints 2 Quote
henryhallsdanceband Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 (edited) Just the sort of birthday present I really enjoy…OK it was yesterday, The win plus my lad giving me a 1982-86 replica home shirt…epic! I’ve never had a Saints replica shirt…back when I were a wee lad (Ormond era) and into my teens all mum could find for me was a blue top with big flappy white collars (like an Everton shirt of the time)…from Lumley’s on Sauchiehall St. Still wore it proudly at my Glasgow school…despite laughs from my school chums (all of the Ugly Sisters) Anyway - sounds like another decent performance today that makes for a cracking start to the season. Looking forward to getting to Perth for a match sooner rather than later. Edited August 23, 2025 by henryhallsdanceband Wendy Saints 1 Quote
SlickDT Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 I thought we played well today, you just don't get punished the way that you do in the top league. A couple of slack back passes that were not punished, but overall a very comfortable win. Holt once again the driving force in the middle. Mallan a clear upgrade on Carey and overall we have a team that wants to win. Even at 3-0 we were pressing. Players like Stanton trying to make things happen and force his way into the managers plans. Kirk looks like he may be away, so a replacement for him would be good. A back-up RB and an experienced back up keeper and I would be happy enough with the squad. A new winger would be an added bonus. Wendy Saints 1 Quote
Kinnoull Kicker Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 Comfortable win and on another day would have been much more than 3. A few very good performances. Sidibeh man of match for me - absolute standout - worked seriously hard for the team, wins ball back, tremendous vision in playing others in, created a superb third goal ……and goals will come for him!….though when they do he will surely be on the radar of many clubs. Shout out for Diabate… cool, comfortable, quick…turning out to be one of the best centre half’s we have had in a long time. Wendy Saints 1 Quote

mike_gain Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 Today was prerry comfortable, even with the moments of slackness we delt with things well. Defence looked really well drilled, as do the midfield. Arbroath had some good passages of play but our defence were simply too good. Was right behind Baird's goal, cracking header. 2nd was excellent. Not sure on penalty decision, think ref was using a magic 8 ball today, but very well put away. As with most weeks Holt was outstanding, Sibideh not getting the rewards for his excellent shift and centre backs looked comfortable. Early days and teams may suss us out, but Simo more than happy to mix things up, penty times we pumped the ball forward. He was getting frustrated at the slow pace coming out from the back so perhaps that'll come in the weeks ahead. Crowd was good today over 4000 I think. This squad is starting to earn a decent support, we might not end up winning the league or playoffs but the last few weeks have been great and I suspect we'll have many more ahead of us. Squad depth will prove massive for us, very few weak links. Zorro's 'tache 1 Quote
