GOB10 Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Hopefully keep the good league form going today. Have a feeling it wont be an easy game for us though. Just over a year ago we last played them and put this team out under levein. Not single survivor other than essel from that starting line up. Would any of them get into our squad today? Massive difference in 1 year. Quote
blueheaven Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 I remember thinking in that game that Keltjens and Wright looked like they might have the makings of a promising partnership down the right hand side for us. Don't think they ever played together in those positions again after that. Glad to see the back of pretty much all of those players. Quote

mike_gain Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 That's got to be one of the worst teams we've put out in recent (under 29 years) times. Sanders still gets a pass but compared to our current fit CBs he's way off. Drey at holding midfield when we had other options? Just 1 up top? We really put up with a lot the last few years, almost hard to believing we weren't being trolled. Anyway, better times ahead. Hopefully Simo gives Morton the respect they are due but fires the team up for a win. Can't see many changes to the squad Gullan a big miss but we have depth in the squad....barrels of it! It's great being excited about football on a Saturday again! GOB10 and SaintJet 2 Quote
Cagey Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 If we win this one we can open a gap with what I would think were our main competition. Dunfermline play County and Thistle play Raith. 2 draws would be fine. Quote

Cleveland-Saint Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Dominant team, but missing that final spark, (Gullan being out doesnt help) also surface a bit slippery. Think we could use big Uche to cause some trouble in the box.... Quote

Saints been OK first hhalf but need to move the ball about quicker. 2 decent penalty claims for us as well. As for rhe goal not a lot you can do about a wonder strike like that Quote
Cleveland-Saint Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 20 mins left....could really have used Kirk in a game like this, especially as a sub to stretch them late like this No real complaints so far, Morton defending really well Quote
Cleveland-Saint Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Phew !!! McPake deserved, worked his ass off Quote
R.B.B:- Adz Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Anyone still sticking to their “I’m not that fussed if Kirk leaves” guns? Really lacked attacking options off the bench when chasing the game - which could be a feature of this season against teams who are stuffy. Quote
Cagey Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Wake up call. We have to start playing from the start of the game. This playing it back and forward between the centre backs is really frustrating, especially when the wide men were available for a pass. It's obvious they are just doing what they are told. There is also too much passing on edge of box instead of having a shot. Tattie-bogle 1 Quote
muirton enclosure Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 (edited) Classic stuffy game , borderline red on Mallan challenge . Ref no protection ? But glad to get a draw. Maybe a reality check for forthcoming away games . Edited August 30, 2025 by muirton enclosure Quote
MrBored Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Got a little lucky there. For all our play we seemed to want to pass the ball into the net rather than taking a shot on. McPake at least started to go down the wing a few times in the second half rather than cutting in all the time and that gave the Morton defence a little bit more to think about. It will be interesting to hear if Adamah was injured, didn't think the switch to Uche worked particularly well. We also seemed to spend quite a bit of the first half ignoring Tumilty in a forward position. More and more teams will do what Morton did, sit in and hope to get a break. Cracking goal from them and they defended well. Tattie-bogle, Saline Saint and dave mc 3 Quote
RandomGuy Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Not much you can do against a well drilled side who are happy to sit deep and take what they have. Only solution is to score first and we couldn't convert any of the half chances before their wondergoal. Down Mikulic, Mallan, Gullan, and Sidibeh, and still came back to avoid defeat against one of the stuffiest sides in the division. Might feel a poor result tonight but suspect in a few months itll look better. Quote
