glenrothes saintee Posted September 15, 2025 Report Posted September 15, 2025 After the Pars getting a good win on Saturday this could probably be the hardest game of the season so far. Saints are obviously expecting our biggest home crowd of the season so far, as the match preview is stating this is a “allocated seat” game. Ie, you sit in the seat numbered on your ticket. https://www.perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk/news/article/preview-dunfermline-athletic-h/ Quote
rik2304 Posted September 15, 2025 Report Posted September 15, 2025 This is a another great opportunity for a statement win. Win this and we'll have beaten all of the likely challengers for the title. Havana Saint 1 Quote

Zorro's 'tache Posted September 15, 2025 Report Posted September 15, 2025 Saturday was Dunfermline’s best result in a long time, but it’ll be interesting to see how they set up in Perth. Lennon will be rewatching the Morton draw a fortnight ago as the barometer of how to play against the mighty Saints. By all accounts their new signings have made a positive impact. Regardless, it’s all about how we play to our strengths. An early goal and it could be a routine victory by a couple goals. Either way, it’s nice to be away from Astro. Quote

RandomGuy Posted September 16, 2025 Report Posted September 16, 2025 You need to score first against us and I think that'll be Lennons thoughts. Quote

Ginger Bakers rebel army Posted September 16, 2025 Report Posted September 16, 2025 East Stand tickets selling very fast for a game 3 days away. Less than 200 left in the upper sections of G, H and I, with lower sections selling well. Would not surprise me if East Stand sold out for this one. Saints fans flooding back to McD, this is magic. Ormond is open and where the freebies are for, he should have a QR code as well for appropriate adults to purchase £10 tickets. sane_tee 1 Quote

That's great. Sounds a lot like the community days they did last year. Not heard much about it at all, though. I'm all for getting the youngsters in to support the Saints garydavidson 1 Quote
Cagey Posted September 17, 2025 Report Posted September 17, 2025 I would play the same starting 11 but Sven for Svedberg. I think Sven earned his place after his display on Saturday. We need more dig in midfield against Dunfermline and Svedberg is a ghost. We have had a few over the years but not many that can go a whole game and not be noticed Quote

pezza70 Posted September 17, 2025 Report Posted September 17, 2025 How good is it reading positive comments about the club again on here, we have won nothing yet or even promotion via the play off but getting off to a strong start was important and we ticked that box. To think possibly our best player in Bozo is still to return is another bonus. COYS KinrossSaint, Havana Saint and sane_tee 3 Quote

Basically anyone for Svedberg… I think Sven deserves a start after his performance off the bench at Raith - he encompasses everything that we haven’t had for 4 years. Gullan is a more obvious like for like/upgrade on Svedberg but not sure that is the right move for the dressing room with Griffith and Sprangler training well and Gullan being out. Svedberg has had so many chances and hasn’t taken any of them so has to come out. I don’t think Stanton did enough at Morton to merit a start. I think Franczak and Wanner have to wait their turn if Simo is creating a genuine meritocracy. McAlear, Holt and Sprangler is a very dominant three but would understand if he went Gullan. Quote
Widge Posted September 17, 2025 Report Posted September 17, 2025 I think at home, he has to go with Gullan, as with Sprangler, he's too similar to the other two. OK he put in a good performance as a "10" on Saturday, but he wasn't sent on to play there, it was to shore the midfield up and support. We're at home and needing to break teams down through creativity and breaking the lines, Gullan has proven he can do that, with Fotheringham showing bits of it against Raith. I'm not against Sven getting game time, but right now he doesn't in the position he should be played in. blueheaven and Havana Saint 2 Quote
PSJ.84 Posted September 17, 2025 Report Posted September 17, 2025 I wouldn’t be starting Sprangler behind the striker off the back of a 10-minute performance in a game we were already leading. blueheaven and rik2304 2 Quote

One led to a goal and the other would have been a great headed goal from a cross from Adama after the best move of the match. Quote
Zorro's 'tache Posted September 17, 2025 Report Posted September 17, 2025 ‘Don’t expect them to replicate a Morton type performance tbh. Would expect a more attacking outlook.’ Are you serious? Morton got a result against us by flooding their midfield forward and having plenty options in the box. Brophy’s goal was quality, but they should’ve scored before that too. Take McPake out of that game and we’d have struggled to score the way things were going. How do you expect Dunfermline to be more gung ho? Their goals v Arbroath were almost all on the counter. Quote

Against a side we were 1-0 up against, who were tiring, and who were recklessly attacking and leaving space everywhere. Game state matters. 7 hours ago, Zorro's 'tache said: Are you serious? Morton were time wasting after the first 5 minutes to kill our momentum/flow and once they, fluked, the opener they were more than happy to sit in and protect it. They didnt have a single shot after the 34th minute. Dunfermline wont be sticking 11 men behind the ball and filling the box so there's no room to move. dave mc 1 Quote
blueheaven Posted September 18, 2025 Report Posted September 18, 2025 People suggesting starting Sprangler in an attacking midfield role is just plain odd. I'm all for having him in the team, but he's competing for the Holt or McAlear role - not the Gullan or Mallan role. I think the obvious move (unless Gullan is considered ready to start) is to keep Fotheringham where he was on Saturday and play Wanner on the right instead of Svedberg. But I also wouldn't be gigantically surprised to see Griffith coming into the team, given the way Simo's been talking him up recently. KinrossSaint 1 Quote
