Cagey Posted March 29 Report Posted March 29 St Johnstone. Partick Thistle 4/4 Arbroath, Away. Ayr ,Away 11/4 Airdrie Home. Dunfermline , Home. 18/4. Airdrie , Away. 21/4. Dunfermline, Away. 25/4. Raith,Home. Arbroath,Away. 1/5. Ayr,Away. Queens Park, Home. Similar run in. All to play for. We didn't do too well with last 5 games last season. What will happen this season. Surely Simo has learnt something and we go for it and play with a bit of purpose. Quote
GORDON76 Posted March 29 Report Posted March 29 I have the fear. The same scenario for a good while now. Dominate possession and create numerous half chances. The luvvies appear to be winning similar games to us with relative ease. They would have beaten QP yesterday. Next weekend is massive. Personally, I would bring in Forrester at right back. Is Gullen match fit with his groin? If not, why wasn't he rested for a period to get natch fit? No way ge would be a sub if fully fit. Quote

Northern saint Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 Managers under pressure tend to become defensive which is what I think is happening as we play to control the ball rather than use the ball. When we play quickly, attacking with purpose and pace, we exploit defences which are caught off guard, not being allowed to reinforce themselves. I do wonder why Agyeman is here. (I've no doubt some bench sitters feel the same as no personnel changes even if everyone can see a player is out of form) His pace and power on the right gives us an option missing since Adama left yet is seldom used. Simo needs a Plan B and utilise his substitutes better. Hopefully he will be working the front two in training to take different angles of approach so one near, one far post. Treat each game as a cup final and attack. Tattie-bogle, MySpazz and Cagey 3 Quote
RandomGuy Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 With Partick sorting out their away form we probably now need at least 4 wins from the 5 games now. Its hard to see where Partick drop points beyond Arbroath away. While we could easily drop them away to Arbroath and Dunfermline and at home to Raith. I genuinely think we've ****ed this. garydavidson, MySpazz and Tattie-bogle 1 2 Quote

No doubt about it.we have been average since January and Thistle have gradually improved. Fair play to Thistle who have done it lately without their 3 best players. We have stuck with basically the same 11 through a bad spell. Must win on Saturday or we are ****ed. Quote

Said this weeks ago I couldn't see Thistle's away from continuing to be that bad and when looking at the fixtures, that we were not winning at Thistle, Arbroath or Dunfermline, our form against the top teams has not been good enough really, I think we need a win and at least a draw from the latter two....fingers crossed 🤞 I still think we will slip over the line but it could be a helicopter Friday Edited March 31 by Tattie-bogle Quote

Then we also need to not drop points at home to Airdrie or Raith, winning both. Then we also need to beat Ayr away. I just cant see this team managing all that. Theyll drop daft points at home again while failing to win either tough away game and that'll be it. Tattie-bogle 1 Quote
Tattie-bogle Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 See the Raith game moved to the Friday....after we play Dunfermline on the Tuesday. While I guess we could win the title that night it still smacks a bit of BBC at best trying to engineer drama and in Thistles favour Quote
RandomGuy Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 They were always likely to put our last home game on TV. Quote

Northern saint Posted April 1 Report Posted April 1 The lack of game time for some fringe players is probably why Simo has not made the changes. That is down to him. We need to play them and get 60-70 minutes out of them. The poor quality at free kicks, corners is on the coaching staff and players. We need to look and see what worked well. Think back to Game 1 and how we steamrollered Thistle. Why have we throttled back? Had we been more adventurous and street savvy we'd have the league won already. All games are winnable but also loseable. I'd rather lose trying to win than scrape a draw allowing Thistle to overhaul us through our timidity. sane_tee, Willie Peat, Coltrane and 1 other 4 Quote

Tattie-bogle Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 Have to back this up now. Was not expecting the win but it's bloody huge and delighted to be proved wrong. That's one tricky away tie done, win our home games now and hopefully that's that. Quote
