mike_gain Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 Looking over the P&B predictions thread it's easy to forget just how early we went early with our signings (non marquee that they were...although some laugh reading the comnents). This was vital to our success, waltzing the league cup group and scudding Thistle on the first day due to a settled squad Won't be so easy to sign early doors this season, we were big dogs and players would have no other realistic better options. Not the case now, different pond, but Simo perhaps has enough about him to sway players. GK situation needs addressed first. I'd be happy with Sinclair as backup if he agrees to another year but feel we absolutely need a reliable No. 1 Wingers next. I think Smith is a capable defender, in the top flight he needs someone in front of him. Foulds almost the opposite but a good backup but again I feel whoever is on the left needs someone in front f them who will track back. I'd be pleased to keep Steven but not sure it would benefit his career Rest of the squad is pretty settled, we keep Bozo and sign another CB. I'd be happy to keep Paton, he's basically a mental Kane. Works incredibly hard, strong and inventive but that's up to PV I guess. Management team have a lot in the bank and we have to trust our business in the transfer market will be fairly positive. Quote
Aitchy Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 Two most important things to address this summer are signing a quality keeper and ensuring that the money invested in the pitch enables it not to look like a ploughed field come November. Since Simo has come in, he has identified two quality keepers in Andy Fisher and Toby Steward, so hopefully he can identify another. We seen the damage that having a poor keeper can cause a team when Rae was in goal at the start of our relegation season. Kilmarnock and St Mirren are battling down the bottom this season due to not having settled keepers. Details around the investment to improve the pitch are vague. I appreciate it will always be a challenge with the weather we get in this country come autumn and winter (especially this year with the amount of rain we had), but we our owners need to be doing all they can to ensure the pitch is decent throughout the season, particularly given the type of football Simo wants us to play. It will be an embarrassment again if we are playing in the top flight with a shambolic pitch. We all pay good money to watch via season tickets, so it needs to be better. I would move Bozo on. Big ask to expect him to come back from the best part of 18 months and contribute. Really hope we can convince Diabate to sign another contract. garydavidson 1 Quote
rik2304 Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 I don't think Diabate will be here. Look at the noises coming from Paton versus the radio silence from CD. Roxy 1 Quote

Holt is the most important cog in this team. The improvement from last season is vast. I don't know if it's because he is captain or if it's because he has the responsibility but he has been tremendous this season and but for McPake and Gullen he would have been player of the year. Hard to imagine him getting another club in the Championship. Any manger offering him a contract will have fans right on their back. Frazer Wright made a call on his body when the time came. Thankfully we never saw him fade and still have the good memories. Quote

Saintdunc Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 To digress from the big season ticket controversy being discussed by many, I was quite impressed (most of the time) by the Dunfermline back 3 who looked assured and confident (most of the time). Just wondering if any of those 3 might be of interest to us should Dunfermline fail to get promoted. Quote

Every high, every low. From promotion to relegation, and the incredible honour of captaining this club for the last two seasons — it’s been a journey I’ll never forget.
