doune.SAINT Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I have been doing my work experiance as assistant groundsman at mcdiarmid an got told alot of usefull informTION 1 BEING THE CHANGE of catering next season.beacuase the elderly couple are set to sell up...the prices will be going up because as it stands we are the cheapest for food in scotland.. Quote
Jamie_Beatson Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 Prices going up would be bad news because we currently offer excellent value for money. But I'll be happy if they bring back the legendary Dotty bar. Quote
Scobby_SJFC Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 are we cheap?? I cant say ive noticed us being less than other places Quote
Jamie_Beatson Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 Definitely. Our steak and gravy pies (which are absolutely top notch) are about £1.20. Anywhere else is around two quid. Sweets are a reasonable 50 or 60p compared to a pound elsewhere. Quote
doune.SAINT Posted May 30, 2008 Author Report Posted May 30, 2008 yeh there av been workin on the pitch had a great time seen wee peaso n these people were cheeking the cafeteria and i asked and he said they were buying it will be similiar to dunfermlines set up i think more staff less ques but thy wont be local like the older couple great grub ...hope they keep hotdogs...just thought i would update youz Quote
andrew Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I hope they get rid of the crap tea and coffee and do like other grounds and let me have a tea bag and put in my own milk - no more of that powdered rubbish. Quote
Grovesred Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 Our steak and gravy pies (which are absolutely top notch) are about £1.20. I can think of certain non-league grounds where £2.50 is the norm. Magnificent chicken balti pies, but a scandalous price. Quote

I normally hate the grammar police but this is barely readable. Thanks for the update though! It's been a couple of years since my last McD visit.... ....Tell me the dotty bars haven't gone?!? Quote
SaintSam1884 Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 A change of catering could well mean a change in quality of food - for the worse! Quote
Dev Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Prices up and quality down I would imagine. The pies at McDiarmid are great and the cheapest I've seen anywhere. Please, please don't let us end up with catering like they have at Dens. Quote
blueheaven Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Saints catering is terrific, and I've often noticed how cheap it is compared to away grounds too. I think Dundee and Stirling Albion have the worst catering that I've experienced. Do Saints still sell those rubbish sausage rolls though? Apart from them, the food's always been great - especially during the late 90s golden era of pizza slices on little plastic plates, Dotty bars, Highlander crisps and blue popcorn. It was a fatty's paradise. Quote

garydavidson Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 saints are cheap but very slow and usually have very low supplies. Quote
Kevin Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 saints are cheap but very slow and usually have very low supplies. Judging by the amount of pies they bin I find that hard to believe! So doune.SAINT has been doing work experience at the ground and does not know who the 'elderly couple' are? You sure you heard all the right stories and that you were not fed a line as Jimmy Hogg is famous for his banter I take it you are responsible for the sand then doune? Quote

101 Saint Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 You sure you heard all the right stories and that you were not fed a line as Jimmy Hogg is famous for his banter Is Jimmy Hogg still at the park? I thought he now works for Geoff in the house building business. Quote
Chuck Norris Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Is Jimmy Hogg still at the park? I thought he now works for Geoff in the house building business. It's fair to say that GS Brown sub-contract him back to Saints quite a lot! Quote
theweesausage Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Is Jimmy Hogg still at the park? I thought he now works for Geoff in the house building business. Jimmy does work for Geoff now, but also he and his wife Maureen run the kiosks at McD on a match day, that used to be run by Geoffs son and Jimmys Daughter Quote
Calypso Kid Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Wots a "dotty bar" ? You've never lived. Quote
