Ali91 807 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 absolutely superb. two absolutely brilliant goals. Liams goal was amazing and it was good that he got it as he was partially culpable for their goal. great support aswell. looked to be well over 2000 but i am not the best judge of support size. not a single failure. top of the league. dave mc 1,483 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 MMM scored a screamer of a free kick after 5 mins, but thought we were slightly second best in the first half. They seemed to have more time and space than us,Wilson scored a back post header, not sure who his marker was ,but he lost him anyway.Mooner was carried off with what looked a bad one.I didn't see anything wrong with the challenge, but Mooner went down holding his midriff, the Pars player was booked(Glass),so the ref saw something.Second half had just started when Sheerin went off, Ando coming on and Craig went wide left .On reflection this might have been a blessing,'cause Craig went on to have a great half, and scored an absolute cracker from 30 yards.Had several one on ones but couldn't kill them off,had a couple cleared off their line,so we could've won by a few more, so second half we fully merited a great 3 points. HertsSaintee 18 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 The exceptional quality of both the Saints goals aside, you can't underestimate the importance of that win today. Dunfermline are a good side, and they will still be the team to beat at the end of the season - lots of physical presence and they move the ball about neatly. This was a result we ground out with our second half performance - the sort of game we wouldn't have won in previous seasons particularly with other results going our way. Very proud of our team tonight. Sorry, have to shout it: WHAT A F*****G MAGIC HIT BY LIAM!!!!! YAAAAAAASSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ghost of Jim Morton 2,417 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 That was magic. Not gonna go into much details suffice to say both saints goals were honies. The Pars were pretty good with Harper( wife beating b****** ) a stand out.But hey we were better.I heard on radio that the official Saints support was 1664 which is fantastic ( but I swear there were more. We also got in for a £10????? and when we bought 2 brides £2 each, 2 drinks and a packet of crisps it only cost £4.80.Theses fifers are ****ing hopeless at counting. Well done Saints ,well done Saints fans...The last thing for now is a wee song... We're top, we're top, We're top of the league don't you know.......... Alan Main FanClub 10 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Great result, and a decent display. Not perfect though, and I thought the defense was excellent in the second half after a shaky first half. Liam Craig should be playing in the midfield every week, and the midfield should be Miller, Craig, Moon, Sheerin. Hardie scored, but that was about all he did. He did win a few battles to give him credit, but caught on the ball far too much, and gave away possession far too much too. Thought Miller played well, and Moon was very impressive before his injury too, made some good tackles and was in control over his opponent. Sheerin played ok, a few good touches and that, but tired towards the end. Craig was poor at left-back, but excellent in the midfield. Savo and Holmes is our best strike partnership I think, and then Samuel was used as a sub and looked a threat, maybe he should be super-sub? Main a legend as usual! Thought he was superb again... and Rutkiewicz was my man of the match, thought he handled the pressure at the end amazingly well and won everything in the air. His passing was a bit iffy in the first half, but his second half performance should us that he is definately one of the best centre backs in the division. McInnes also deserves credit for not putting Morris on, Samuel was the correct decision. Well Done Sainteeees!
soulfulsaint 72 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Great disspal and congratulations ot the club. We had to weather the storm but could also have scored a 3rd on the break. Craig's goal outstanding. We may be on of the very few teams in the league that can lose players and still replace them. A squad will win the league nota team, and we have the best. Welcome back Martin thought he was a tower of strength.

tbaysaint 1 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 fantastic, fantastic, a great free kick from MMH, and goal of the season by laim craig. a great support as well. WELL DONE SAINTS LETS NOW STAY THERE
templeofsaints 396 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Absolutely brilliant performance - not pretty (other than two amazing goals) but the sort of battling show that wins leagues. Every player today played their part in the win - nobody hid and nobody shirked a challenge / tackle / run. To be top of the table tonight as well is a bonus and full credit to the Saints fans that made the game a party (around 1600 of us apparently). Liam's goal was an absolute peach - worthy of winning any game. Hardie's goal was also brilliant (even if a bit unexpected). Only downside was Mooner's injury - anyone know how he is? malcolm 12 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 an excellent game - and I think Del's tactical ploy of putting on Ando and pushing Craig forward was inspired. The team is looking like it did the last time we got promoted - this will be the year!
Jings 91 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Great result and a very gutsy performance from the boys, against a strong Dunfermline side who never gave up. Our only failure today was in letting Harper fire in the crosses at will. Nothing against Craig or Ando, but they simply ain't left backs. Let's hope DM has someone tied up for January. Full marks to the manager though for moving Liam into the midfield so early. I think that steadied the ship a bit and cetainly didn't make Harper any worse a threat than he had been already. Hardie is definitely on his way back to his best. He's in there for grit and fight, and it's probably the silky skills of Millar and Sw***ie that make him look a bit clumsy. We came we saw we conquered.......Cheers Ginger Baker, for a guid day oot.

mapleleaf 11 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 1600 according to Richard at TOS. Good stuff. A very important win. If the Boys keep the head, they look set fair to be well in line for promotion. I hate to be overly optimistic, but this is the best run of form they've had in a good while. Smudge
Bruno Strasser 206 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 No doubt about it Dunfermline are the best team we have played this season - and that was a huge result for us. 1664 seems a bit low - looked like we had more (certainly sounded like it)
