Jason Kerr has another problem on his comeback trail.

After playing a game with the youth squad last week, Wigan boss Maloney confirms he's had a setback and will unlikely be available before Christmas.

He didn't say what it was, but that's some bad luck he's had since moving down there.

I think McCann has ongoing injury problems as well.

Just as well we got the money whilst we could . Can't see any sell on fees.

Disappointed for the players and the club.

Wonder if this is a job Macca might go for?

I can't imagine Macca being a manager anywhere until he sorts his man management skills out.

The way he treated some of the players when he was in charge was disappointing to say the least.

No matter what you thought of Bair, was it right to keep him away from the first team and train with the kids? That seems like an unnecessary slap in the face.

The way he, and the club to be fair, handled the spoony situation was shocking.

Then naming, in public, three players that he wanted out of the club, knowing full well that the likelihood was that nobody was going to take them on.

If they're going to be here anyway, why not keep their spirits up? And maybe they could do a job in an injury crisis, or whenever required.

How well McGowan has done since coming back in is proof of that strategy.

He was also apparently pretty nippy when he was a coach for Calum as well. Wasn't it him that fell out with Eetu?

Add to that, all the stuff he came out with in the media, and I would say that if he's ever going to be ready for management, then it's not going to be anytime soon.

He seems to be well liked in the football world, so maybe some kind of job in the background would suit him better? Scout or agent maybe?

He's a Saints legend and always will be, which is why I would be unconvinced if I heard that he was going back into management and putting himself through all that again.

Whatever he ends up doing, I hope he does well.

Yep, I think so too. Wonder if he regrets turning down the Dundee job now.

I can imagine Calum turning up as assistant to Gary Rowett wherever he ends up next.

I've got a feeling he wants to move back down south, I think he's still got a house down there.

That might be a big reason as to why he turned the Dundee job down.

Yep, have to agree. I think any of the above things, in isolation, aren't all that bad or unusual, but when you combine them all together and also consider how short a period of time they all happened in, it doesn't look good at all. I think it was in the Courier podcast a while back where they spoke about Macca struggling with the fact that most modern players just don't have the sort of passion/attitude that he had as a player, and he found that difficult to handle. I think most players today probably need a different approach to get the best out of them, other than being screamed at when things aren't going well. Of course I was never in the dressing room so maybe I'm being unfair, but there were a lot of stories about his aggression just being way too much.

It's a shame, as I think he had a lot of other good qualities. He seemed to have good ideas, he said a lot of the right things and he made some really impressive signings from a very tight budget. It'll be really interesting to see what he ends up doing next.
