  1. I congratulate Steve Brown and fellow directors of the club for this great decision, now confirmed.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign over the last few weeks.

Season tickets order will be placed tomorrow.:D

Let us not forget that now the next battle begins - no to Newco in SFL 2012-13!

Suspension from all Scottish football for a season untill the full extent of all wrongdoing becomes clear is the only correct decision

Great news. Bought my ST excited about Turkey but will remain insitent that no Newco to be allowed privileged acces to any league. Stick to the rules

  2. So Saints draw is subject to change of date, fixture reversals and subject to a court of arbitration ruling on Besiktas? Then even if we get the original team we were drawn against, it may be moved to Istanbul or Ankara? Add in UEFA's streaming of the draw being taken down with no explanation and their media centre seemingly clueless that a draw was even taking place today.

    Very successful, well done UEFA.

And Rangers are trying to get their licence :)

  3. Season tickets renewed by phone and office reporting very brisk sales. Be great if the club got rewarded with more ST sales than last season that would be further evidence that RFC(IA) are not essential to our success.

Anyone who can afford to do so please get behind the club - some great deals to be had.

  4. Good on Hibs for their consistency and clarity. Their statement acknowledges the economic challenges but is clear about the bigger issues of integrity. Still strikes me as odd that some people think that a bankrupt club who owe put £100m to creditors are somehow the economic saviour of Scotttish football - lacks even the most basic credibility.

  5. History will record that we lost the First Division to Gretna on the last day of the season. Most of us (except the Scottish media) already knew that Gretna were morally and financially bankrupt and were quite shamlessly cheating. Could you imagine the melt down on this forum if the following season Rangers had been parachuted into the First to 'save Scottish football.'

We would have rightly been outraged.

So lets not allow it to happen to others its a sham compromise and more than any other club SJFC should demand a fair First Divsion. Our club has been most effected by its financial failings in the past, lets not add to them.

  6. As we celebrate and reflect on a No Vote being the prefered outcome of the Board and Fans, we should also face up to the financial challenges that lie ahead. Although there is no dircet co-relation this is the facts that Motherwell have put in front of their fans. If we were faced with similar challenges I would favour trimming back on the football department - squad size and wages. But others may disagree.

  7. It appears that a change to the rules of the SFL require a 66% majority of all members.

To suspend the rules, change the 3-league structure or dissolve the SFL, they require a 75% majority.

12 months notice must be given before any agreed change to the structure of the SFL can be implemented.

Effectively, 20 of the 29 clubs (30 if you include Dunfermline) must agree to Sevco’s entry in SFL1.

Any attempt to gerrymander the situation in any other way needs 22 (or 23) of the 29 (or 30) SFL members.

    Some steep hills there.

  8. The "leak" never came from the fans working group I can assure you of that.

The Fans working group is 7 in number with 3,sometime 4 club officials including the Chairman , some are connected to supporters clubs and a couple are individuals. We meet every 2-3 weeks at McD. The remit of the FWG is to assist the club in certain areas through planning, new ideas and the like. This group was not set up as a result of the current Sevco666 situation. and indeed the subject was not really discussed much until very recently..

Discussion that have taken place have concerned Season ticket structures, Family Stand issuses, Family fun days, The Ex Chairmans dinner and stuff like that..

There have been certain things that have said in confidence and no confidence has been broken by any of the 7.

It aint no secret society thing and I have never hidden the fact that I am one of the members of the FWG..

I hope this helps clear some issuses up for you Cagey..:D

For clarity I am not nor - and never have been on of the 'Secret Seven' - whose work I wholeheartedly support - but will they confirm or deny that the Board serves them succulent lamb at these meetings?

    :)

  9. Whilst we reflect on a no vote at saints its important to remember that there may be consequences for others too, and so post this from Falkirk:

"OUTRAGED Falkirk chairman Martin Ritchie last night insisted it is totally unacceptable for Rangers to waltz straight into the top tier of the Scottish Football League.

The Bairns supremo has broken his silence on the debate surrounding the Ibrox newco and the prospect of them dropping into the First Division as punishment for imminent liquidation.

Record Sport revealed this week that a proposal to radically reform the Scottish game could see Rangers demoted from the SPL into this country’s second tier.

However, there is still a chance Rangers may have to reapply for entry on the bottom rung in the Third Division if their attempt to re-enter the SPL fails.

And Ritchie insists it would be totallyunacceptable for the Ibrox side to parachute straight into the First Division as he outlined his position to fans.

He said: “Many supporters have expressed concerns regarding the potential Rangers newco outcomes and their impact on Scottish football, the SFL and our own club.

“We clearly have no say on whether the SPL wish to accept the newco into their league next season. However, as amember of the SFL we do have a say in whether a newco would be admittedinto the SFL.

“David Longmuir, chief executive of the SFL, contacted all SFL clubs this week and assured them that any meaningful proposals would be put before all SFL members.

”The board at Falkirk FC strongly believe the current turmoil should be a catalyst for change in Scottish Football.

“League reconstruction, First Division play-offs, a fairer distribution of the game’s wealth and the ending of undemocratic voting systems should be the minimum level of change.

”It would be totally unacceptable if a Rangers newco were admitted to the First Division on the current rules.

“Even a weakened Rangers newco would have resources that far outstripped all other First Division clubs and this would pretty much guarantee them promotion before the season even starts.”

Ritchie pointed to the financial downsizing undertaken at his club as reasons for his disapproval and believes it would be unfair for Rangers to get away with paying no one having had their CVA rejected and plunging towards liquidation.

The Falkirk chairman added: ”Fairness is a word not often quoted in the current situation.

“However, I think it is worth reminding everyone that when Falkirk FC were faced with provisional liquidation in 1998, the new consortium of owners paid every creditor [including the Inland Revenue] in full, ie 100 pence in the pound.

“If we had gone down the route taken by many clubs since then, paying only a fraction to their creditors, we would have had the resources to accelerate the development of our stadiumand make an earlier return tothe SPL.”

  10. Clearly, I will be absolutely delighted if this proves to be the case and Saints vote No. My season tickets will be renewed and my belief in the values of our club rekindled.

BUT why, why, why does this great news have to emerge via a series of nods and winks from a small number of "insiders" on here who got to meet the Chairman the other day, and from un-named sources quoted in the media?

Why couldn't an open statement have been made by the Chairman at a press conference? The latest excuse seems to be "He is flying out to Geneva for the Europa League draw".

    Why can't Saints do PR?

I would honestly appreciate it if any of those 'in the know' could enlighten me as to why superb news like this has to leak out rather than be announced properly.

If you are asking me Percy I simply don't know the answer. I have been in London for the last two weeks and certainly not heard of any fan forum meeting, and not been at one. I heard the 'news' yesterday via a friend in Perth that the club had been speaking to season ticket holders and that the 'no' word was unambiguous. But the rumour has been circulating for a wee while now.

I think the Herald quote explains that the club had been hoping for their intentions to remain confidential, explaining why they didn't publish a statement. Can't help beyond that but like you very happy that we a intend to take the right decision. I live too far away to have been at meets... maybe some Perth based fans can help?

Its great news Percy and I hope you relish it - I'd rather have good news told haphazardly than bad news in a statement.

  11. A

Back these days I didn't feel anything like the animosity and disdain towards Rangers as I have over the last two decades - I just got the mick taken out of me for supporting Saints - I stood up for us and wore my 'replica' shirt with pride.

Think your right HH. There was much to dislike back in 60s but the triumphalism and superiority of the post Souness era is what has formed many people's perception...

  12. ".......a source told Herald Sport:

"Steve had been hoping to keep the board's stance confidential and prevent it being played out in the media before the July meeting of SPL chairmen. But when he was flagging-up ambitious plans to introduce a new family stand at McDiarmid Park and for free admission for under-12s next season, it emerged that the Perth board had decided to say 'no' a newco Rangers on the grounds that St Johnstone's best interests, and those of season ticket holders, would always come first and the sporting integrity of the game also had to be of paramount importance."

Well done Steve - not only is the new initaitives for next season welcome so too is the balance between sporting intergrity and the best intersts of St Johnstone.
