1. Mike - I'm exactly the same.

What I dont understand, in this day and age, it is so easy to set something like this up. It could be set up so that only non-UK IP addresses could access so as not to break the current TV deal. With the number of Scots abroad this could be marketed to all Scottish fans on a subscription basis.

Costs are minimal to run, but there is a potential 20m Scots living outside the UK! (Texas Saint posted the numbers a few weeks back - cant remember the link)

I will end up watching Liverpool for much of the season. My only Saints fix will be through this forum and twitter. I would gladly swap Saturday night watching Liverpool/Manu/Chelsea/random other english club for watching Saints v Ross county and I would gladly pay for it...

A web TV strand or channel is well within the capabilities and resources of small clubs. It could be outsourced to a small production company (Speakeasy in Stanley have provided similar services to Celtic) or indeed as a local partnership with say Perth College, who already run very professional rock music programmes. Launching and running the station could easily be a module that would simulate professional set ups.

  2. ive made my mind up land at istanbul 15-00hrs wednesday metro to esenler bus to eski dont care if i dont get to eski till midnight i will kip on the bus go to ibis meet up with the rest of the original cys if they ent tucked up in bed u never no at there age anyone about at these times for travelling

Just come to the hotel ya moaning wee ****. The Quality Street gang will be there.

  3. 1000!

    That is rubbish.

I worry this could be our lowest crowds yet at McD.

I don't. Numerous people were trying to budget Turkey and STs and many more were holding back until there was a resolution to the SEVCO scandal. Think there wil be a real take up in next 10 days. Anyone who can afford to do so should get a season ticket and support the club.

  4. To the night porter of the Ibis Hotel - my apologies for the 100 noisy ****s in the bar their attitude to Dundee brings Scotland into disrepute and there is not a single piece of reliable evidence that Ivano Bonetti has ever had incestuous sex with his brother. :) :)

  5. According to today's Sunday Mil - "

Ibrox will be hosting teams from Division Three this season. DUNDEE UNITED and Hearts last night insisted Rangers newco stand NO chance of being admitted to the SPL or an SPL2 tomorrow.

A conference call of the SPL board took place on Friday, outlining the options available following the SFL’s decision to put Gers in the Third Division.

And further informal calls between other club chiefs have since taken place ahead of tomorrow’s SPL agm.

United chairman Stephen Thompson, who jetted in today from a family holiday in the USA, told MailSport last night the SPL can’t make a mockery of democracy.

He said: “Both scenarios are total non-starters. They have NO chance of happening.”

Good on Steve Brown as I assume he was on the conference call as a Board Member and once again voted No.

  6. Can't see him surviving this leak.

One paragraph caught my attention and cleared up something that I had suspicions about.

"Regan also said in the email that Dundee will replace Rangers in the Scottish Premier League next season, even though the SPL clubs are not due to choose between them and rival candidates Dunfermline until their annual general meeting tomorrow."

Look back at the fixtures around New Year it leaves the prospect of local New Year Derbies with SJFC playing Dundee (as Club 12). It looks like they factored in the fixture data presuming two possible outcomes - Rangers or Dundee.

  7. Neat wee initaitive from Annan to record their role in SFL history and make a few quid for the club:

To commemorate the watershed decision made by Scottish Football Annan Athletic are creating a Scroll of Fame, for a small voluntary donation fans names will be added to the scroll which will be displayed in our social club, the scroll will be replicated on our website. We would encourage visiting fans to put their names to the scroll and would also encourage other clubs to adopt a similar scroll, this way everyone can contribute as fans visit other clubs around the country. Fans from afar can also show their support by making donations. The proposed wording will be as follows but it can be amended to something better if necessary (no doubt that opens it up to some crazy suggestions but we would be open to a uniform message.

    Scroll of Fame

13th July 2012, Today Scottish Football made a watershed decision based on sporting integrity, everyone listed below supports this decision, furthermore we guarantee our commitment to Scottish Football and to the clubs we support.

Postal donations should be sent to Annan Athletic FC, Galabank Stadium, North Street, Annan, DG12 5QH, please include your name (full name or nickname), town and club. We will have electronic means of payment available shortly.

  8. Report from Thistle fan:

Earlier this afternoon Thistle went down to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of SPL St Johnstone in a closed door friendly match. The score, however, wasn’t a true reflection on a highly encouraging display that left manager Jackie McNamara in a positive frame of mind.

The Thistle manager ran the rule over a number of trialists, including a goalkeeper, and fielded David Rowson in an unfamiliar position in the centre of defence during the first 45 minutes, the latter portion of which was played in heavy rain.

The SPL side, who included Jonny Tuffey among their substitutes, opened the scoring as early as the sixth minute when a free kick at the edge of the box clipped off David Rowson and found a berth in the trialist keeper’s bottom right hand corner.

  9. Lot of up to date insightful guys on P&B. I would have liked a statement but as long as the Chairman doesn't commit football/financial suicide with a St Mirren/ICT statement I have decided to chill and hopefully see things decided on a lump of grass.

Something I have enjoyed is reading other's views in this subject and being able to debate them. Read a lot I have agreed with and a lit I have disagreed with but on the whole it's been a very adult discussion with no toys thrown out if the pram. I wouldn't have predicted that when this all kicked off.

Good on you john and thnaks for your contribution to what is the most imporatnt deabte we have ever had on the forum. I wait to see if Sevco can secure a licence to play and are transparent about funding and ownership. And like you I would not want to read any backtracking form SJFC.

  10. Hi Saints. Apologies if already discussed.. would have thought it must have been... Do you guys not consider, all things considered, that this could very well be a once in a lifetime opportunity for any club to finish second and a chance of Champions League qualification. In short it could and surely will bring forth welcome outside financing into clubs with that ambition thus making the SPL a far more even and exciting division to watch?

No. For large parts of the 1950s, 1960s and 1980s the old firm rarely occupied the top two slots, it was only in recent decades when Rangers embarked on cheating on a near industrial scale that their era of outright dominance came into play - which is why there is such widespread condemnation. But your right to say it will be more exciting in the SPL

  11. Clyde Have published the following statement - again very clear and honourable pointing a worrying finger at SPL clubs in the final sentence:

Clyde View on SFL Meeting | 13 Jul 2012 | News | Clyde Football Club

"The club chairman attended a very sobering meeting of the SFL today where the 30 clubs voted on resolutions in the manner that they felt were, on balance, for the good of the game. Nobody had arrived at decisions easily and all had been placed in intolerable positions of having to decide without the basic information that would reflect good governance and having to speculate about unresolved matters around sanctions and membership of the SFA that other bodies had so far failed to deal with.

The outcome was never going to be a good one, but it was one of significant unity amongst the clubs. Even where clubs voted differently, it was not a divisive difference of views, everyone understood the complex mix of circumstances facing each club would never deliver unanimity of voting.

We reported this morning prior to the vote of all clubs that “Sevco Scotland Ltd will not be playing in the Third Division in the coming season." Nothing heard today altered that opinion, in fact, it strengthened it.

For the good of the game we need to see the SFA accept the will of its members, who all voted today, as members of the SFL, in the clear knowledge that the SFA had it in its power to refuse to transfer SFA membership to Sevco Scotland Ltd should the vote support the entry of Sevco Scotland Ltd into SFL3.

We were asked to respect the confidentiality of those presenting today as only that agreement would allow them to be as candid as they were. We cannot therefore share what was said, however Mr Green left the SFL member clubs in no doubt about what he had been told by the SFA.

The SFL saw a level of unity and unselfishness that owes significant credit to the First Division clubs who stated their intention to seek a 42 club solution and not to take part in a divisive alternative. This kind of unity, if maintained, will help deliver the change that the game so badly needs and the First Division clubs in particular will merit.

If the SFA now act to support any process to undermine the clear views of the SFL members, who are also members of the SFA, then this club will join others in questioning those in leadership.

Sadly for our game, this saga is not over, teams cannot plan and that includes Rangers, who may yet be denied the opportunity to play football in SFL3 because it suits the interests of others.

I hope St Johnstone FC are not involved and/or will distance themselves from any further and unwelcome attempts to undermine the democratic will of SFA member clubs.
