  1. Of course the St J job is not yet available so your thinking that the Utd job is too big a step. from top to bottom, really.......... I'm taking the positives from Saturday and DM will use this as a reminder for the remaining of the season
  2. I've just read Is this a "make us an offer we cannot refuse" statement. What realistic offer would Brown accept? What would the fans accept?
  3. I fully understand and agree, however if there is a chance that by acknowledging the OldCo is inexplicably linked with NewCo and thus they need to service all of OldCo's debts, then that would be a great thing in my opinion. I understand they are still flying by the seat of their pants, month to month and hoping that they secure promotion and increased ST sales to survive. If OldCo debt pushed them beyond the brink then I would not be upset.
  4. Well, it depends on who you think has more experience should the NI job become available. Certainly O'Neil only managed Brechin City and Shamrock Rovers, so having managed St J's to the Scottish cup and European experience 4 years in a row already puts TW up there.
  5. Not at all. If I wanted to wind up you guys I would be making reference to UTD seeking permission and Wright not ruling it out. I think anything UTD are doing will just strengthen TW's discussions with Brown. However if the NI job was to become available, I do seriously wonder if that would tempt TW away fro McDiarmid
  6. I can;t see TW at Utd, but I notice that O'Neil is stalling over the NI contract offer. If that were to fall through, I do wonder if TW would be interested in that role.
  7. Ach it was just a snap back at the big bold blue 5-1, but the quip could be put down as banter of course. Hoping TW's superior tactics works well against Celtic as well. We won't win the league, we shouldn't win the league, but the longer it's possible it makes the league interesting. Who wants it over wit 10-15 games to go? 5 years in Europe in a row would be a nice achievement, but is it realistically sustainable once Hearts and Rangers re-establish themselves in the top flight.
  8. You certainly was clinical on Saturday, although wasn;t the post from where Shaughnaysay prodded in the rebound. I actually though McLean was still offside for your second when he ran back to head that in (not making excuses as we should still have dealt with it). Being pedantic, it was never a foul by Rooney to win the header back to McGinn. Even at half time, I though we could turn it around, but you closed it out in the second half to deserve your win.
  9. I wonder if having O'Halloran and millar out affected your team tactics on Saturday. You correctly called earlier that the HT score was not a true reflection, but you came out, scored 2 relative quick goals and closed out the remainder of the half. All the best for the rest of the season and see you all again at new year.
  10. To be pedantic, it was 1-5 Well done again, does that make your season or will you kick on to try and get into the top 6?
  11. I never used the word negative. I'm sure anyone at the game would have seen that immediately when you lost the ball, you got 10 men behind, dropping 20 yards to get organised and restrict us. You also made sure that anybody wide had two men on them restricting crosses. When I say you were defensively organised, it was a compliment. At times, I wish our defenders could properly clear the area and get out of the box. I only recall twice where I thought that St J got the bal down and played some good interpassing to progress up the pitch, both of which just failed at the last point to make a good goal scoring opportunity. The rest was long balls, my opinion, like it or not. It worked though as you did not win many of those long balls, but your midfield snapped up every 2nd ball. It was here that you won the battle of the midfield and the game. Your long ball game was very effective in clearing your area and gaining yards up the pitch, from which you gained advantage from the set pieces and Aberdeen dealed poorly with. You came with a plan and executed it well. I just wonder if that plan works as well if you concede the first. All the best until 2nd January when we come looking to get that crucial first goal
  12. You'll see I posted in the Just Back From the Game Thread, I didn;t hide and congratulated you on your win.
  13. Interesting that I am being viewed as arrogant, when I was totally complimentary and objective. I was not making excuses, I said we were beaten by the better team on the day and your victory was thoroughly deserved.
  14. In what way, I congratulated you on your tactics, it worked well on Saturday. I was very complimentary on your result and merely offered my objective opinion. Disgree if you like, but certainly my aim was to congratulate and be objective. Incidentally, it was very hard to be objective to the Aberdeen team on Saturday, every single player was poor and did not turn up. As DM said, we were weak and naive.
  15. You were the better team, no denying it. You deserved your victory Aberdeen just didn't turn up today. It's hard to be positive about any of the Aberdeen players performances. You nullified our team, closed down extremely well and when we did press, your teams ethic was to get the ball as far away from your goals as possible, chase down and then start again. You didn't cut us apart (although our defence was all over the place), your goals came from long range efforts outside or set pieces. Once you were ahead, you could simply clear your lines and start again. Craig was absolutely shattered, with 20 mins to go he was asking the linesman how long to go. It'll be interesting to see how effective it is over the season
  16. Just Back From The Game and well well, what can I say. 1st of all, congratulations to St Johnstone on the 3 points, a thoroughly deserved victory. 2nd, what a strike from Easton. Could have been row Z mind you, but it ended up in the back of the net. This screamer was critical as it allowed you to play to your own game plan. You then scored a second whilst the Dons defence was still sleeping, but when we got one back immediately after I thought, game on But apparently not game on as you got your third. I was sitting at half time thinking, how the hell are we down 3-1 to St Johnstone as to be honest, your style of football is not pleasing albeit very effective against the Dons today. but on reflection, I know why you were ahead. St Johnstone were really physical and bullied Aberdeen out of the game. Your tactic was to play the ball long, gain the yards and close down quickly having moved up the park. I don't think you won many 1st balls in the air, but what you did do was win absolutely every 2nd ball. Onto the second half and I hoped DM would have fired up the team, but alas no and you picked up another 2 easy goals early in the second half which killed the game. As I said, your long ball tactics and physical work ethic paid off today, but I don;t think it is sustainable, you will find a lot of games you win this way, but another lot where it doesn't work. Your very well organised (as we knew) and get men behind the ball very quickly, making it tougher for opposition to break you down. It's a tactic which is helped if you gain the first goal, but not sure how effective it is if you go behind. Once again, well done, looking forward to the 2nd January now when we come to McDiarmid and hopefully get the first crucial goal. P.S. Special mention to the 2-300 travelling St J fans. I know you guys went down the road happy, but hope your experience in the ground was better than before
  17. Yeah, just heard the same. I'm revising my 1-0 win to a 2-0 win for the dandies. signing off now till after the game COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!
  18. A stat I just read, Only Motherwell and Celtic have beaten Aberdeen more than St Johnstone since you guys regained promotion to the SPFL. last season is history. What's your record this year. I'll be happy if you are able to match us this year in taking points off Celtic.
  19. I guess it wasn't overpriced as suggested earlier then ;o) I didn't mention the 10 pound tickets as I'm a season ticket holder and do not get interested in any game by game variances. anyhoo, that's me off to head to Todders, so you when back from the game.
  20. Maybe I was coming across that way, but never meant it. Some fans (Aberdeen included) moan and whinge about the pettiest things, it makes me think they need to wise up or get a dose of reality. The thing about the security fencing at the perimeter of the ground is an example I think, FFS, get real, what do you want, a string of shopping outlets. Some pretty floral art deco or something Maybe the problem was that the away support was unexpected. My point was about larger supports is that if a club knows and expects it, they can deal with it better. If more clubs brought larger supports then maybe where they are located would be looked at. Certainly the club have looked at how best to segregate fans, especially when we had the Gruesome Tuesome come to Todders each year. You'll be glad to know we have restricted Celtics away support and are treated with the same allocation as you get nowadays ;o) I'm pretty sure Aberdeen have moved to all ticket (Aberdeen fans moan about this too) as it gives a much better idea of expected crowds and be ready to accommodate them i.e. tickets and food. There's always room for improvement and constructive criticism would be well received
  21. Ach I understand some fans can be overzealous, we have many of them at Aberdeen too. I don;t think we'll win the league as Celtic could always go out and buy some players in January and would kick on after they are knocked out of Europe for a second time. ;o) That said, I doubt Aberdeen would sell to Celtic in January if we are still competing by then, but the longer the "challenge" goes on, the more interesting it is. Let's hope the Dons get back to winning ways today and you do likewise next week
  22. Oh, your talking about two years ago. I couldn't make the Scottish cup semi two years ago so never saw that, which if it were true, it would be crazy to talk about winning doubles. We were confident, maybe over confident in the semi after we beat you 4-0 in the other semi and had a run of games against you which we were on top, but its what matters on the day that counts and your team turned up whilst mine didn't Same with today, today's result is the only thing that matters, not what the results were years ago. I'm growing increasingly confident of a win today, but then I thought that the last two games as well ;o) COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!
  23. I will come back win lose or draw for post match reflection and then disappear off to the next opponents boards.
  24. I will be moving on to Ross County on Sunday, but will come back this evening / tomorrow morning win lose or draw to reflect P.S. you forgot your "Far aboots yer furry boots" COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!
  25. I hope the club have learned, I will make a special effort to look across and see how you guys are faring Good on you, always support your team All the best lads
