  1. Roddy vs Airdrie. The Relief was incredible.
  2. I'm genuinely puzzled. What was the good times of living in Muirton? The three people I know that lived there tried their damndest to leave ASAP. One guy and his 3 year old kid was assaulted whilst someone else was the victim of numerous burglaries. What made Muirton so great? As as far as I knew, it wasn't a nice place to live at all and regeneration was long overdue. Not trying to be a d***, just genuinly curious?
  3. Seemed to happen a fair bit today. Jody uncharacteristically gave away possession as a result. It can only be an equipment issue. Shit boots? Whose the kit provider for boots?
  4. Duechar isn't a bad player. He wins a ton of long balls regularly. If anything his biggest problem is a crisis of confidence rather than ability. Only by getting behind him rather than getting on his back will he come good. That said I could have murdered him when he slipped.
  5. A good 10 of us are going through. Should be a good day out if nothing else. Not really expecting to take anything from the game.
  6. I thought we played well. It's disappointing not to take something but they are established SPL opposition that defend well away from home and hit on the break. They did their job well and we just have to take it on the chin as a learning curve.
  7. That's a fair enough point mate. And I do agree, it was fantastic once. But the point I was trying to make is that Muirton was not up to scratch during the last 3 or 4 seasons there. Given the choice of staying there or moving to state of the art McD the right choice to make was to shift. Otherwise we would have had a future of playing against lower tier opposition with a stadium crumbling to the ground. Like Ayr, as Blue heaven correctly points out (in my opinion). I don't mean to be offensive of pedantic. It just seems that there is some sort of romantic ideal attached to living in Muirton and playing at Muirton park on these forums. And I can't get my head round either of these opinions. As I said, I may be wrong about the perspective I have on living in Muirton as I never experienced it. But Muirton park in the last few years was not a nice place to visit on a cold winters day in the second division with hee haw crowds. Which would have been the future had we not took the plunge and shifted up the road. I mean no disrespect to Muirton in the glory years. But it deteriorated to a point that it was a terrible football ground facillity wise before it shut down. We agree that Saints made the right decision to move so I think we're on the same page really.
  8. I must have missed something during my up bringing. At that time, if my memory serves, Muirton as a housing scheme was a horrid place to live that the residents wanted to leave ASAP. Additionally, Muirton Park was a decrepit hole crumbling to the ground with a team made up of junior players that would be out of their depth on a court in Bells sports centre. You can correct me if I'm wrong as I never had the questionable pleasure of living in the promised land of Muirton during its apparent glory years of prosperity and plenty. It possibly was the greatest place to live and my recollection is a complete falsehood. And if that is the case I apologise for suggesting it was actually hell hole to live in for many of it's residents. I did however go to Muirton Park on a regular basis. And it is no exaggeration to say it was a complete dump of a football ground and I base my opinion on my own fraught personal experiences. Blue heaven is 100% on the money with the points he makes and it absolutely staggers me that anyone would want to return to the days of second / first division obscurity and a ramshackle "stadium". It may have been a great stadium once, but it was way past it's sell by date when it shut it's doors for the last time. Sure, the sing songs were great on the odd occasion. Doug Barrons testimonial and the SC Morton Quarter final ring a bell. But it was utterly shit for most of our league games the two seasons prior. I remember standing with my Grandad behind the goal for a game against Stenousemuir and being the only two people watching the match not under an enclosure. In total there was probably 250 people there, including visiting fans. That was NOT a good time. Yet that is the scenario McD saved us from repeating for the next 20 years, not the once in a blue moon big games wic ended up becoming common place because of the move. It has to be McDiarmid. It's gotta be. Anyone that suggests otherwise either doesn't understand the implications of remaining at Muirton or can't remember the awful antiquated facilities. It was a shit tip, no question. MC'd spurred us onto greater things.

    Hud on, wait for me....
  10. Disappointing. But if I'm honest, not an entirely unexpected retort. I have the same right to question your views as you have to post them in the first place. If your not happy with that then don't read my responses. As my final words on this subject I will only say I feel there is nothing wrong with saying you feel uncomfortable with Homosexuality. Perfectly natural when confronted by something alien to your own beliefs and that is not the point I'm trying to make. There is a massive difference between saying that and the rubbish that has been posted in the beginning of these dual threads. (Paedophilia, the holocaust reference, derogatory wording) I see one person has already walked away from the forum due to some of the comments made on here in various threads. I can honestly say I'm considering doing the same.
  11. Agreed Noose. I also agree with the points you made earlier in the thread. And although I agree it is acceptable to discuss risque subjects with like minded people that take it in context, I would say this forum is not one of them. I run a few forums and websites and I know that of the active users only a small proportion actually post. In reality we can get over 300k hits per day when we're busy. And all of these people presumably read what is written there.
  12. You are right. It is a public forum. And that is the beauty of it; a belief borne of prejudice rather than fact can be exposed and ridiculed for what it really is. You might be entitled to form your own opinion but to date I have seen nothing in this so called “debate” that explains adequately why you hold that perspective. I am happy to take your points on board as to why you think it is acceptable to post what you and others have on this forum but “it’s my opinion, right” doesn’t really cut it for me I’m afraid. Just because you are entitled to have an opinion does not necessarily mean you should throw it out there. I might think a person I work with is overweight and / or smells pretty bad but I’m not likely to say it to them. Why? Because it’s bloody offensive. It might be my opinion but it’s absolutely not ok to spout it out and make them feel like dirt. And my guess is you wouldn’t appreciate someone doing that to you and you would have plenty to say about it if it happened. Being a public forum you must accept that those that do not agree with you are entitled to offer their explanation why. And it is disturbing to see people take the hump at a completely reasonable argument presenting an alternative point of view. I almost find it amusing that you are posting about “PC” brigades as an attempt to legitimise or deflect from the real issue here and that is unwarranted prejudice and hate. We have also seemingly conveniently skipped over the issue of Homosexuality being compared to Paedophilia, a simply outrageous and factually inaccurate claim to make. We are quick enough to give the OF a kick in when they sing their vile songs but we’re really not any better if this is the sort of antiquated nonsense we can come up with on a Saints forum, whether it be in chit chat or any other place. IMO it has no place for discussion in the modern world, old school or not. Not unless you can present some facts or reasons to support your opinion with the intention of taking on board other peoples, only then could it be considered an actual “debate”. At the minute, I see nothing to convince me that it’s anything other than black and white intolerance. So let’s leave that sort of Neanderthal pish to the Glasgow pair eh? Larky - apologies, my post was not a dig at you. Only expressing my opinion on the thread overall and the ridiculously offensive comments that were made at the beginning.
  13. Let me see if I have understood this correctly. In the two threads so far it has been suggested that: 1. We re-open the scene of possibly the most evil act in human history. This should be done in order to eliminate paedophiles. Which is the perfect solution. 2. Acceptance of Homosexuality will lead to the eventual acceptance of Paedophilia. Which are nearly one and the same thing apparently. 3. It is perfectly acceptable to voice an opinion, even if it alienates or offends other people. We do after all live in a democracy therefore I am perfectly entitled to say I hate you / what you do regardless of how it makes you feel. It's my right. In my opinion and something people are missing here, it's about respect. And there has been a complete lack of that shown here. For the millions that died in the Gas chambers and every Saints fan who visits this forum that is a Homosexual Man / Woman. How do you think they have felt clicking on this link? Probably hoping for an adult discussion amongst their peers and originally finding words like p**f or m*ncer? And I'm sorry to say the removal of these terms does not improve this discussion, not one jot. Not when you have people refering to others as "disgusting". I'm sure if someone created a thread saying I hate people from Muirton cause their all junkies etc there would be a big enough stink created. Yet it's exactly the same principle, hatred based on a BS social stigma. It's backward thinking and I personally hoped I had seen the back of it when I left school all those years ago. It's also not about the hateful and time worn phrase "PC", it's about not making other people feel like sh*t because they are different to you, come from somewhere else or have other beliefs. Which is exactly what this and the other thread have achieved. I ask the people here to answer honestly, would you stand up in Asda, Tesco or the shopping centre and declare loudly that you hate Homosexuals? Or that it is akin to Paedophilia? If the answer is no then why do you think it's ok to do it on here? Does the safety of sitting behind a PC make it somehow alright? If the answer is yes then I truly despair and even feel a little bit ashamed to be a saint fan / human being today. I will say no more on the matter and get back to discussing football instead.
  14. http://www.onefinfalkirk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21457&start=40 We are a lesser and "Diddy" team apparently. Delusions of grandeur anyone? :-)
  15. The Doc was fantastic IMO, and I've been his biggest critic. I don't mind a bad performance, but I do mind a lack of application. Until today (& Hibs in the cup) the doc has been found wanting in the effort department. Hopefully it's changed days and from now on he'll be as good as we all know he is. Falkirk are pish poor. Like I said before, cannae believe we conceded a goal to that lot. Rubbish.
  16. Davidson, Morris, O Neil and Georgio playing in the hole in front of them.
  17. May be worth giving them a shot for that price. But if you do Sony won't touch your PS3 in the future so might be best to make sure they are up to the job just in case. :-)
  18. Afraid your stuffed then I'm sorry to say. It's a flat rate of £150 for a PS3 repair as I understand it. I know some Sony reps as we do a lot of marketing for their brand, I'll do some research and drop you a PM if I can source a cheaper repair through them. Don't hold your breath though.
  19. BTW, anyone hear the Falkirk fans abuse of Sammy when he was subbed? Or did I imagine it?
  20. Nope and Sony will charge you £150 for a repair if it's out of warranty. Is it an original 60G version you have? They are dropping like flies. BTW - Fifa 10 is by far the better game. And I'm a dyed in the wool PES man.
  21. I feel likewise. He's done well.
  22. The best 45 x 2. Saints 5 Aberdeen 0. That was downright awesome. If they had added an extra half hour we could have made it 8.
  23. Good game. Falkirk are a poor team and i cannas believe we conceded a goal against them. Davidson was downright awesome today and he deserved that ovation. One question, why was Sammy so ineffectual after scoring? He looked totally uninterested. Duechar was immense today as well. He might finally be coming good.
