  1. Time to update this. Swanson - 9/10 Doyle - 0/10 Sutton - 2/10 Shaughnessy - 8/10 Cummins - 6/10 Fisher - 6/10 Craig - 6/10 Krachunov - 1/10 McKay - 2/10 Alston - 6/10 Coulson - 3/10 Watson - 3/10 Foster - 8/10 Paton - 4/10 Gormley - 0/10
  2. Hopefully nobody is leaving as the manager is unlikely to replace them. That's the point that it shouldn't be the case as it is expensive for the chairman.
  3. No it is an opinion that if the manager had a history of signing more than just the odd good player then the chairman wouldn't be having to push the boat out to keep these players. The consequences of most of them not resigning is frightening.
  4. The reason Saints are struggling to get players to sign new contracts is the money the players are wanting obviously. I have sympathy for the chairman here as he should be able to tell the players to go and get more elsewhere but he is worried about the manager's ability to replace them. If they do sign then this will be the last contract at Saints for a lot of them as the chairman won't be able to increase their money again. So hopefully the manager can develop an eye for a player.
  5. Thanks for the list of names of prospects. Some reasonable points that apart I suppose.
  6. I wouldn't give Tommy any more money but it's obvious that he has less than before because the youths are getting more. So I decided to look and see where they were in the "Development League" and they are BOTTOM of 17 teams! So that looks like a complete waste of money! Is there a single decent prospect in the worst team in the "Development League"?
  7. Who last took Scotland to the World Cup? Craig did so you look stupid claiming he's not a good manager. But then the measurement of success on here is idiotic judging by the comments about Steve.
  8. Strengthening is required when you don't have a position filled. Tommy can put out a full team and subs on Saturday. Obviously he needs money when a player leaves and he did well to replace O'Halloran for example but don't give him money when he doesn't need it as he usually wastes it. He doesn't need a striker for example as he already has 3. If MacLean left he would and then give him money. In those situations he does OK. When he doesn't need a player he seems lazy with his signings.
  9. Craig signed Hayes, Reynolds, McGinn etc...... for Aberdeen, very good eye for a player. Steve's record at Saints speaks for itself but ambition got the better of him. It was Steve's work that got us Wotherspoon and Easton.
  10. Where did I say that? Tommy is a great manager but I wouldn't be giving him money to waste in this window. I'm not talking about players making an impact, just them not being crocked, invisible or so bad that they get paid off. Other managers being poor doesn't make up for anything. The SPFL is a lot poorer now then when managers like Craig Brown and Lomas were in it anyway.
  11. I would not put a figure on it but it needs to be less players that don't fall into these categories. Crocks. Never play So bad they get paid off.
  12. Thanks for the reasonable replies latterly, rather than the smart ass ones. My first post made no reference to Tommy's ability as a manager, which is very good. I don't blame the chairman for being wary of giving him money though. As Broon says, the players he signs are rarely as good as the ones already here. Anyone who is happy with what Tommy has done in the market needs a reality check.
  13. Well done Mr Chairman on not giving Tommy more money to waste. Look at what he has spent it on. Coulson - Permanent crock. Watson - Permanent crock. Gormley - Would rather give up football than play for us. Then also consider. Mackay - Given a contract then barely played and paid off. Wright - See above for Mackay. McKay - Brought in to replace Wright but not good enough so paid off. Sutton - Another pay-off. Gilchrist - Maybe not expensive but still money on a crock. McCawl - What was the point? Doyle - Played about 5 minutes. Krachunov - Hopeless. Of course there have been good signings but Tommy wastes a lot of the club's money and that must be a worry for the chairman when it comes to the big picture.
  14. You can't take alcohol into the ground. We need all the fans we can get so wouldn't want you to miss out.
  15. I am not one for picking the team but hopefully Tommy changes something from the last three home games. Even the Dundee game was crap honestly. Maybe try a 4-3-3 formation with all three strikers on.
  16. Anyone could coach Celtic. Look I am entitled to my opinion.
  17. You are maybe too young to remember Stein, Roxburgh and Brown then, who had us as one of the best 8 sides in Europe. All proper Scottish coaches. Strachan has never coached in Scotland and it's widely known that Levein was too influenced by his time at Leicester.
  18. I said if Callum left too. Duff didn't have the players at those clubs but he was very well respected coach at Chelsea, where Jody Morris is now. He is probably the most experienced manager in Scotland as he first managed in 1989 you might not know. I would also suggest Jimmy Nicholl, who won Raith Rovers a cup and is very highly regarded by Michael O'Neill.
  19. That's why I said a fantasy appointment. The SFA should make sure they don't make the same mistake as they did with Sir Alex and let him get too old. He will want to go back to England after Celtic but make it known to him they want him at some stage. He was very well respected at Chelsea as a young coach.
  20. Scottish manager has to Scottish. Maybe the posters on here are too young to remember Berti Vogts. Looking around I would like to see one of George Graham, Alex McLeish or as a real outside shout, Jim Duffy, who was very well respected at Chelsea. The fantasy appointment would be Sir Alex, King Kenny or Brendan Rodgers.
  21. If you woke up tomorrow morning and Tommy and Callum had left Saints, who would you want as the next manager? I am really impressed by the job Jim Duffy is doing at Morton and I know he is someone that Geoff Brown has a lot of time for.
  22. I heard from a very trustworthy person last night that ex Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh is going to Ireland with Saints this week. He is investing in a French academy that his friend Guillaume Beuzelin runs and despite exploring a move back to France is now considering basing himself in Scotland with his wife and new baby. I can't see how this will work with money but trust the person who told me so we will see!
