  1. Surely part of the decision regarding the game going ahead is down to the safety of the travelling support of both teams.
  2. We need to get a grip. County been steadily catching up, and 3rd place putting a bit of breathing space between us. Our goal difference has dropped by 5 in a matter of weeks. With the Aberdeen game in a few days and the run of games plus cup games in January. We seriously need to find that magic again.
  3. Sorry, if a player misses a penalty, no matter if he's on fire scoring from open play he doesn't get another chance in my book. F***ing hell !
  4. The clubs are charged only for the Police Officers in the ground, the numbers of which are decided on in consultation with the club. The amount of Officers and support units outwith are up to Police Scotland to deploy. There is no cost of those external units transferred onto the club. Disappointed with the result yesterday, thought the first had a touch of handball by Cifci, 2nd no challenge, 3rd free header and absent marking. Not to panic though, we still put up a fight, played well in stages and constructed a few great moves which created some brilliant chances, that on any other given day might have gone in. Anything from this game would have been a bonus. Heads up and focus on getting back into the winning way and the teams above us.
  5. Keep Griffiths quiet in the first 5mins this time please !!! This season they have shown they are quick starters with plenty teams finding themselves a goal down within the first few minutes. Historically it's always been the best time to play either of the OF when they have had a European game mid week. This is a crucial game for us to win, not just for another 3 points but, also the fact that the 2 teams above us play and could take points off of each other, we need to keep the pressure on them if we truly want to challenge for 3rd or a nosebleed finish of 2nd
  6. I understand where Random Guy is coming from, I was raging after the first game against hearts 4-3 thinking, here we f***ing go again, last seasons frustrations all over again, but, as the weeks / months have gone on the difference for me this season is, there's a quiet confidence about the team / club / support, that if we go a goal down or a team comes back at us that we will score again and go on and win. THAT just wasn't there last season. I would be panicked if we weren't scoring so freely from positions and players all over the pitch. It gives teams nightmares, who the hell do they mark, and cover runs from. Great days.
  7. It's the Barcelona style of football, They play with the knowledge that they only have to score one more than the opposition does. Not suggesting for a moment that we are at that standard, but its the ethos they play by, and it seams to have done them no harm at all. In all seriousness we have a +9 goal difference. Other than the 2 Scumdee teams and Killie we have the heaviest goals against in the league, however, only Celtic have scored more than us, surely that has to be a positive. If we weren't scoring freely as we are, undoubtedly this would be an issue. If we continue playing in the same vein as we are I'll still be happy at the end of the season, as I'm sure you and all the other supporters will be. Stroll on Sainties !!
  8. If we hold on this, its a good game to win, creates some breathing space between us and County. Mind you all games are good to win. Signs of a split in the league between top 4, mid section 6 / 7 teams and the dungeon already.
  9. Were they not at the corner by the Ice Rink end, remember there being a gate on the pitch there and the big sliding doors to the Dunkeld Road
  10. Was looking through an old box of photographs and found this. Does anyone recognise themselves. Game was the Saintes v Aberdeen New Year game on 2nd January 1969. Saints won 3-1, we were a top 6 club that season also. Picture is from the PA on 3rd January. I'm the kid with their legs over the wall and the woolly hat on, eleven days before my fifth birthday. Looking for the same result on 03/01/2016 47 years and 1 day later ! Anyone with any other old pics !
  11. Ridiculous law ! Next we'll really not be allowed to eat mincemeat pies at Christmas and Berwick will start to get bombed by the Russkies as well as Syria !
  12. 7-2 was a New Years day match, I came down from Aberdeen and was in the South stand with the old man and his neighbour. I remember his face lighting up brighter and brighter as the goals were flying in, we couldn't believe what we were watching. The chubby pr1ck Chic Charnley was playing for Dundee and banging in the goals that season, he was in the papers spouting cr4p about the Dundee team the week before and what they were going to do to Saints. He got howlers from the crowd as he ballooned a free kick over row Z in the second half and I'm sure he got sent off shortly afterwards. Queue, even more pelters as he left the pitch. The boy I worked with then was a Dundee dafty, he came into work after the New Year break to find his work locker plastered in the back sports pages plastered all over his locker from top to bottom. Great days, hope Friday is another, as The Eagles would sing "one of those nights"
  13. For all sorts of reasons this is a MUST WIN game, for the 3 points and 3rd place, and to continue our Tayside dominance !
  14. We make it difficult for ourselves at times, going 1-0 down. Huge difference from last year is that, time and time again in the games this year we have the ability to play ourselves into games and go on to win them comfortably at times. Keep it up Saints, the future looks bright, the future looks BLUE AND WHITE !
  15. Last weekend it took an hour to get from the Dunfermline interchange by the Amazon Warehouse to the south Queensferry junction. Increased traffic on the day, time of year, January sales etc would only make the potential of delay worse. That was the basis of my train query
  16. Anyone any idea if there'll be extra / supporters trains laid on from Perth, considering the nightmare of the Forth Road bridge at the moment.
  17. Hmmm, see you're all for fairness, equality and level playing fields for all, over financial benefits and home city advantages. Are you masquerading as the SPFL financial director, eco warrior, logistics officer ? F*** it ! Lets just give Hibs and Celtic the ties and give them walkovers. Seems everyone is willing for the SPFL to walk all over them anyway.
  18. Yes, due to the fact that you obviously slept during your geography lesson. I never alluded to the fact that Hibs play at Tynecastle, as you appear to be suggesting, but they do play in Edinburgh, the same city as the game would be played, ergo, a home fixture. Just as the Celtic fixture would be, played in Glasgow. "You're havering" good eloquent retort
  19. Go back to my original post, where the situation regarding both fixtures were mentioned, don't split hairs now that the idiosyncrasies of the fixtures have been highlighted to you. True neutral venue for both ties would be - televise the Celtic v county game and play it on the Sunday at pittodrie , an equidistant 140 odd miles to travel for both teams to a neutral venue, the fact it would be televised would cut the traveling support, but still fill the stadium and play saints v hibs on the Saturday at firhill or Celtic park, an equidistant 40 - 50 miles for both teams. Or is that taking fairness, equality and neutrality a step too far for you, ensuring a level playing field for all !
