  1. Correct! Although with some of the players we already had, there's maybe an arguement we'd need to include Scott or Bingham! Wouldn't need Deas though as CD & Rosco must be better these days!
  2. And Brechin first spotted Ryan Gauld.......they still don't get the credit for giving him a full professional debut.....considering he was 8 or something, but the same would apply with Spoony here as per the criteria.
  3. Bit too young to know 100%, don't know exactly when they all made their debuts for us. AFAIK yes, they'd all work, but I don't know 100%. See my post about Griffin Gav, can you clarify? Wotherspoon, really? Miss the 8 or so year period he wasn't with the club and made his professional debut did you Jos?
  4. Yeah, my thoughts exactly. That's why I wanted to bring it over here to see if we could at least put together a better attempt than mine. I hadn't even thought of Malcolm but, I suppose neither one is a good option.. I wasn't sure about Griffin as he moved to us in 93-94 didn't he? I thought he made his debut shortly after the move & was around the first team pretty much immediately. Didn;t think he'd meet the criteria as he was barely involved with our youth set-up. Happy to be corrected if somebody has a better memory of the time rather than me recalling being 4 year old Bingham works better than Doreen though! Good call.
  5. Can;t stop the story there Chips! How did that turn go down?
  6. Another interesting topic over on P&B. Struggled to answer myself, but hopefully collectively we can come up with some decent answers (if any). Essentially: Form a starting XI from players that progressed through Saints' youth ranks and made there professional debut for the club (ie not whilst out on loan etc.). Must've come through some element of the club beforehand (can't have been somebody elses youth set-up that we then brought in for our first team). Once we have that, is there anybody - based on current ability alone, not their prime - that you would have in our starting XI in 2013? Understandably the thread is dominated by United & Hibs and I would say they have been the most successful but hopefully we can produce a half-decent looking team (although unlikely any would be in our first team today) My attempt: Kevin Cuthbert Mark Baxter / Davie McClune / Stuart McCluskey / Ross Forsyth Mark Ferry / Kevin Moon / Kieran McAnespie Keigan Parker / Stevie May / Steven Doris Even in their prime (excluding May obviously) the only one that I think would even get near our team would be McAnespie, but that's not the point. I hope I've missed some 'cause in fairness that's not a very good team (assuming they all truly made their debut for us, I'm sure somebody will correct me if I've got one/some wrong). Go.....
  7. Oh! Good shout sir! Completely forgot about that b*ll*nd!
  8. Not exactly their fault though. They knew they were past it, as did pretty much everyone other than Billy Stark! Can't really blame them for picking up a paycheck that some dafty wanted to hand them for doing sod all. Agreed. Such an over-reaction but the club were in a difficult position with the negative PR. Didn't it hit the media pretty early on? Couldn't really pretend they were injured and have them serve a discrete ban when it's already hit the papers. Great idea that they should've been sent around schools doing the whole drug awareness spiel. I still occasionally remember his diving header OG against the Ormond stand (I forget the game, my lasting memory was the header!) when I was standing right behind the goal, pretty sure I saw it in slow motion. Cracking header if it'd been scored at the other end though!
  9. Good shout Rik, hadn't even thought of that t*sspot!
  10. Darren or Cillian? Stevenson will probably split opinions, I remember him being a bit marmite-ish among fans, but I don't remember having an opinion either way on him.
  11. Interesting topic over on P&B and thought I'd bring it over here to gather opinions. So essentially, is/are there any players you've 'hated' whilst playing for Saints? Not what they went on to do after etc, but when they were pulling on a Saints strip. I opted for Willie McLaren & Gavin Swankie, but when I think about it I didn't really 'hate' them, just didn't rate either in the slightest and wished they would go away. The third I went for I do stick with is Mr 'Don't you know who I am' Jim Weir. Respected him as a player but on the few occasions I've met the guy I just thought he was a complete *rse with a horrible attitude! Plus, after his testimonial he took my scarf! Edit: Don't know how to fix the spelling mistake in the thread title but clearly it should read: "Players you've 'hated' when they played for Saints"

    Joe Hart

Really? The abbreviated version of "Timothy" is blocked by the filter??

    Joe Hart

'cause *** Krul is a damn good keeper too. Imagine there was some pressure from FF to play first team football

Admittedly with a 9 year gap from 93-02. Little over a year at Coventry and 10 months at Sunderland when still playing - hell, according to Wiki he put in 38 appearances for Sunderland during his time as 'manager' - I highly doubt he was performing many coaching duties during those early years. Realistically, he's been managing for about 10 years. 6 roles, sacked from 4 and still employed in 1. He's done really well with ICT but I suspect he will be making a poor decision to move to Hibs, Petrie isn't exactly known for giving managers time.
  15. Wow. 24 year old aswell. Got to feel sorry for the lad
  16. He would've had to. Think Petrie has realised he has to invest elsewhere, for about 8 years the main reason he provided funds was in the form of compensation to sacked managers. Make wee Pat's position untenable and he walks, then they have the cash to pay compensation if they want a manager from another club. Don't expect it to be TW though. Unemployed, Irish route & lower leagues will be their preferred methods (probably in that order too)
  17. Inkredible Kreations is popular and is reflected in their waiting list usually. I've had the majority of mine done by Tommy (InkIn2Skin) on Atholl Street - highly recommended and usually (not always) doesn't have the same scale of waiting list with it being newer.
  18. How come we don't have a 'forum rule' like most other forums that prohibit multiple postings without reply? Seriously Andy, you have noticed the 'edit post' option, right?
  19. Be interesting to see who they approach to replace him. I imagine it'll either be the Irish route again or someone unemployed. The only managers that appear to be doing well in the lower leagues are ex-Jambos (Hartley, JJ & Grant Murray) so I can't imagine they'd be approaching any of them.
  20. Good thing I was quoting his p*sh otherwise I'd be questioning my sanity!
  21. Correct, it is. Although I don't see where you're going with that? As the market is over-inflated, French authorities bring in a ridiculous level of tax. Monaco run away with the league year in year out and French football as whole suffers? The players the other clubs could then attract (paying 13,000 euros per week after tax) would give the fans very little in way of excitement.
  22. ......and if he has it, then he will be paid a market-appropriate wage for it. Yes?
  23. WTF did I just read? A top player? You really need that defined?
  24. Correct, but the answer for the average fan isn't to tax Imbra & co 75%, that doesn't help Joe Public eat/sleep/heat/be
