  1. Broon said ( I forgot the quote button!) "Not according to BBC forecast. There are lots of different weather forecasts going around. The fact was, it was a clear day yesterday from late afternoon or so onwards and it was forecast to be clear and dry up until tomorrow. That in itself leads anyone to know its going to be cold. Clear sky in January = bloody good chance of freezing temperatures at night. And since when did anyone believe the weather forecast? One look outside and it was obvious it was going to be a cold night." I would agree with this. The forecast I saw mid-afternoon even said that the east of the country would be clear, unlike the west, and so would have very low temperatures overnight. As has been said, it was clear all afternoon so I would have hoped the club would have erred on the side of caution. Will they actually have saved money given the smaller crowd they'll gett midweek? Dunno what an overnight heat costs.
  2. Not necessarily. I was one of those that missed exactly what happened but if he was dropping it to his foot or bouncing it then the above would say the ref was right. If he'd already dropped it to the ground with the intention of kicking it out or passing it then the ref was wrong cos it was no longer between his hand and any surface.

Take that back. I've never implied that Main has been to blame for goals in games he has not been at.

If it's his fault then why the fvck not? I'll get behind all the players while they're on the park, Main included, as I was on Saturday along with all the others that someone mentioned. But that does not make me blind to his faults this season as it seems to have done with many others. It's just burying your head in the sand if you continue to do so in the cold light of day after so many unnecessary mistakes. Would you give this advice to McInnes? No matter how bad any player plays, and how often they are bad, for god's sake don't criticise, just get behind them and keep playing them?

Here's another way opf looking at it. The Main we had originally would have saved most of the goals that folk on here are criticising him for letting in (or at least would have been in a position to attempt to do so rather than just crane his neck to see the ball flying over his head). So why is he our goalie now when he obviously can't perform adequately as he used to in his hero days?

Given the number of examples of Main's mistakes costing us that folk are citing - last night being lobbed again, last Saturday being so far off his line he made the St Mirren guy's mind up for him, how can you not dsay Cuthbert would be better. He never caused so much critisism in 2 years that Main has in less than a season
  7. On Sportscene the foul on Jacko given outside the box was a definite penalty. He got kicked in the face. The defender's body may still have been outside the box but Jacko's face and trhe defender's boot were definitely inside. The Maxwell handball wsa definitely ball to hand so was a ogod decision. Think Main can't be blamed for the goal but he was off his line again. He would have had to come out anyway but being so far off his line from the start gave Dorman plenty of scope for the lob and made it easier for him.
  8. We're only called carrot crunchers cos we fvck like bunnies up here

Fvckin right he shouldn't have. He's supposed to be a lot more experienced than Cuthbert but he rushes this and puts Goran on the spot. Just like he rushed his kick at Dens to give the dee the ball back when nobody was up to get to it (if it had stayed in) and there was no need to rush it. The week before at Morton he was at fault for the first goal - lobbed again. OK we got back to win it but would have been another draw if their 2nd goal hadn't been chopped for being offside (I know he was offside but how many times have we seen this sort of thing go the other way). This kind of thing turns what should have been a comfortable win, boosting the whole team's confidence, instead of - thank fvck we won that. Let's turn it round, aparet from the 2 already mentioned, how many goals did Cuthbert cost us? And that's would be in how many seasons, not just the pert of the season that Main's had so far?

Don't say Cuthbert's perfect but still say Cuthbert made fewer mistakes in the past 2 seasons than Main's made this one and also not nearly as many that have cost us goals or have cost us games.
  11. How often was that said last season - and from before Christmas. Agree it will be difficult but as someone else said - until it's mathematically impossible you've got to keep believing just as the players have got to keep trying.

Only quoting this cos it's the last quote. I thought Main was brill in his first stint with us and for that he should be a club legend so I'm not just someone who's against him. However, too many folk don't seem to be able to get past that. In this period Main made more mistakes in his first couple of months than Kev did in the last 2 years. Some of Main's cost us and some didn't. This has continued - he was off his line again at Morton to get lobbed (ok the defence should have done better to start with but if he'd been on his line he'd not have been lobbed.) How many times have we seen this this season? He also greatly contributed to the last goal on Saturday. He's supposed to be experienced so what was he doing rushing to get the ball up the park when all our players had gone back for the free kick? The fact he threw it straight out of play was just the icing on the cake for that one but if he hadn't it was going to come straight back at us anyway. I truly believe, given the narow margin of many of our losses (and all our draws!!!) that if we hadn't had Main in all season we would have been in a much better position in the league.
  13. We didn't miss McInnes' bite we missed having players playing in positions they are meant for. Tell Hardie he's not a left-sided player? Who put him out there and Sheering in the middle. As for playing himself - NO. He needs to work on reading the game. It was clear after the first half that Peaso wasn't working on the left after his couple of early chances (at least Jackson was getting crosses in even if they were too deep) but he was still there past the hour mark. Someone earlier said something about remember the subs Del. That was my main disappointment of the day - we were far too late in changing things. Even if you disagree with my Peaso point what we were doing was patently not working and had to be changed. Savo was late and on his own, not a big enough change but the last 2 coming on with just over 5 minutes left was disgraceful. We saw in the end what happened when we pressured that keeper, we should have had changes made when we were just 1 down and put the pressure on for the last half hour at least and then we might have had a chance of winning.
  14. Quite the opposite, Quinn and Stanic were the only ones looking interested yesterday apart from the last 5 minutes. A few times Deuchar could have gone for a ball and at least put defender under pressure but if it wasn't to his feet or head wasn't interested. Plus if you look at his time here then he's ok in the box with the ball delivered to him but the number of times he gives the ball away outside the box is amazing. But is his goal-scoring potential good enough to put up with the negatives? (that's a serious question - maybe aye maybe naw).
  15. I think there could be a connection between both the above points. I'm one of those fans who would not think of him as Mr Popular as a player. I felt he underperformed when we had others who could have contributed more sitting out games. OK this was probably an age thing to a great extent and my problem was more with Owen who kept starting him and seemed reluctant to sub him when it was obvious that was what was needed. I think it is entirely possible that this affected his ability to command respect. Other players may have similar opinions, he himself may (even subconciously) have realised that he wasn't contributing as he used to be able to. However, in his new role he can approach the question of authority from a different perspective. I would hope that he concentrates on the management side and hangs up his boots - I'm not saying this just cos I wasn't keen on him as a player for us - that way he can concentrate on the job he is being paid to do and in which he needs to build experience. Having said all that, I for one am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him prove himself one way or the other.
