  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
  2. I remember having an argument about this issue with Stewart Duff when we had the old official forum. He basically accused anyone who didn't have a season ticket, or who hadn't been at a previous game at which vouchers were distributed, of not being real fans. Result: hundreds of empty seats in the Saints section (which happened to be the Main Stand).
  3. think I'll wear ear plugs on Saturday. Not looking forward their polyphonic "come on you bhoys in green" or "just can't get it up".
  4. Great game, had almost everything. Although I wasn't happy about it, I thought 451 worked for half an hour, then we were all at sea, until Macca came on and we went to 442. Swanson was immense, and decent performances from most of the team. Shaugnessy didn't have one of his better games and I was disappointed in Paton. He had looked good in previous outings trying to move the ball quickly. Last night he seemed like a demented chicken. Brilliant result though.
  5. I agree Liam could/should be dropped. Paton certainly looks to move the ball quickly. We were complaining a bit about having so many midfielders, but it's great to have all these options.
  6. I think Spoony has done enough coming on against Stirling and Aberdeen to warrant a start ahead of Alston.
  7. disagree. Caddis had plenty of chances and got many more than I thought he deserved. I'm not saying Saints are always great at giving young players a go, but I don't think that's true here.
  8. and Sheerin the Sheep. Any others? Maskrey the Mongoose, Pelosi the Poodle (!), Sludden the Sloth.
  9. Roddy the Rottweiler, brilliant. Can someone (Montrose?) design this please - just for fun.
  10. oh yes, forgot about that one. There is certainly an almost identical Everton top with E F C in that style of writing. I'm sure I've seen photos of John Connolly in that after his transfer there. I think the Arabs used that style for a while too. I know what you mean about the manufacturer logos, but you get away with it better on some shirts than others, especially where the logo forms part of the design e.g. the Umbro diamonds down a sleeve. It would certainly be great if the original manufacturers would licence use of their logos for Retro tops. I think that's what bugs me so much about the TOFFS one. There was a period where we had no manufacturer logo appearing so it's crying out for a very close look-a-like, but they ruin it with something that never actually appeared.
  11. First replica top I ever had was the Admiral one from the late 70s. Got it in Bob Croall's (sp?) in South Street.
  12. You occasionally see folk at games wearing the TOFFS retro top from the 60s. It has stitched letters "S J F C" on the left. That lettering never appeared on any Saints kit. http://www.toffs.com/content/images/thumbs/0017558_st-johnstone-1972-1977-retro-football-shirt.jpeg
  13. Any chance of flogging the kit, training gear etc in the shop? Seems daft having a shop and not selling your own clobber. Big missed opportunity imho.
  14. I thought last season's strip looked horrible at first but it grew on me, so I'll wait to see what this is like in the flesh (!) before getting too hysterical. It is a bit of a shame about the sponsor logo, it looks really tacky, especially the saltire nipple tassels.
  15. agree with saint_markperth. Folk more likely to buy them earlier to get wear out of them during summer. I'm put off buying too late as tops will be out of date before you get a chance to wear them again.
  16. I'm surprised Invest in Perth didn't insist on a first refusal clause in the sponsorship agreement. That doesn't mean they're guaranteed a further deal, but that if other possible sponsors come knocking they are given the opportunity to at least match what's on offer. Saints should have been having an ongoing discussion about where things were heading. Whatever the rights and wrongs, no sponsor should ever be left feeling they've been shat on. Having said that Newcastle United binned Virgin Money for Wonga a couple of years back, but we all know what an unpleasant regime runs that club.
  17. rubbish, he was at a game recently, was paraded on the pitch and held up his famous hand knitted Saints scarf. I didn't agree with the decision to sack him at the time, but what you have said is just not true.
  18. No thanks. He had one amazing season at QOS before going to Sevco, but hasn't really set the heather on fire since. I can't see Sandy being very happy if he ended up here.
  19. Interesting and well reasoned post Smarmy. As you say your fellow Arabs are thrashing around like beached sharks. It's hilarious.
  20. This is true, although whether or not we'd want such a player at Saints is open for debate. The difference between Dixon and Spoony is that we didn't utterly despise Spoony or his club before he signed for us.
  21. York fans want Jackie banned from the ground!
  22. Some outlets reporting Mixu has gone, including the Courier, but BBC still claiming things are "unclear".
