the flights I looked at had connection times of approx 1 hour on the way out, less than 2 hours on the return.

I thought £450 ish for Aberdeen/Amsterdam/Trondheim was slightly dear but £850 each is ridiculous for one night and no ticket., especially when it is times two! The slight problem with the Aberdeen solution is the return flights, but even having to stay longer it will still be cheaper and you can have a mini break! Cant see the average fan rushing to book this. Then again it might depend on the definition of the included "travel escort"

Not many contractors would pass your vetting! in the current climate if they did not price "keenly" they would have gone 6+ months ago. I assume it did keep working after mains power went off ? try removing battery when off, remove the ram memory and refit, batt back and try again. if it stopped with the power cut you might have had a power spike. you should be able to retrieve your data if it is a laptop death by removing HD and putting into an external drive casing and accessing via another machine
