  1. There's a very simple answer - goals per minute. Someone get the calculator out.
  2. I bet you always wear 10 pairs of socks to make sure you win, too.
  3. I don't know if you've got a season ticket or not, so take this with a pinch of salt if you do. Look at things from the club's point of view - if someone without a season ticket phones up saying they go to every home game, but can't make the voucher games, it's hard to tell if they're being genuine. If Saints issued tickets for all games, even just a raffle ticket or something, it would be a bit easier to tell. Years ago there used to be calls at the club from people saying things like "I'm a pyoor Saints fan an aw'rat, no, gies two tickets for the home end big man by ra way, doll". Some Old Firm fans are easier to spot than others.
  4. With the amount of first-team-capable players on the books this year, I'd be happier if the club saved a few bob for a rainy day. Rather than spunking 500 quid a week on someone to sit in the Main Stand.
  5. Wouldn't worry about it - Saints were offered Curier before he went to Dens and weren't interested in the slightest. Player only went there as a last resort, if I remember right.
  6. At least someone's being honest. There's a huge anti-Rangers sentiment on this forum (and strangely no matching anti-Celtic tone that I've ever noticed) but there are many Saints fans that follow Rangers as well, even if they don't go. Years ago I had pals from school who grew up as Saints fans and went along every week, but I only saw them in the late 90s and onwards when Rangers or Celtic came to town. It's just a fact of life. As for the people on here who say Saints "don't need the money", that's absolutely deluded. For a club our size, this is a genuine opportunity to put money in the bank. There's no past example to show that Saints fans will take up thousands of seats and lock the Rangers supporters out (like Hearts have been able to do in the last couple of seasons, quite successfully) but for us, we should milk it like a cow on its last legs.
  7. He's skilful at running into defenders. He was absolutely woeful yesterday.
  8. Can I play devil's advocate here? Many times this year, Swankie has been - frankly - shite. He had got better and the team has more balance with a winger playing instead of Millar and Morris, but I don't think there's too much reason to doubt Del in dropping him. Why Collin Samuel gets a game, is another story altogether.
  9. Obvious? How many teams have gone straight back to Div 1 in recent years? Inverness - stayed Falkirk - stayed St Mirren - stayed Gretna - erm Hamilton - let's see...
  10. Oh ffs, what have I alleged and where? Probably better take this to PM, rather than bothering the rest of the thread. Mods, I'll say nothing more on here.
  11. Muzz, my life's too short to be that bothered, meaning no offence. As I said, you must have been very quick in replying before I made the edit...
  12. No I wasn't. You simply took it that way and that's your problem. Mainstand knew what I meant.
  13. Where did I say you called me anything? Nor did I imply it... Nor was it a sneaky edit, I did it straight after making the post... you must have been very quick on the trigger Muzz. Anyway, see later posts on the subect.
  14. You have a point and I'll happily retract it as a general term. Now go back and ask for the same apology from everyone that mentioned it in this thread: http://www.weareperth.co.uk/vforum/showthread.php?t=2020&highlight=mongo
  15. For many years people have talked about the 'mongo army' in the East Stand. Simply referring to that... Maybe mongo isn't a nice term, but apparently I'm a clown and a tosser tonight according to some.
  16. Because people are sheep and want to soak up the atmosphere, rather than creating any. It's not difficult to understand. That's why you get mongos sitting in sections of the East Stand because it's 'cool' or because they know there's some noise there. They generally act like arses, take on the stewards, etc, but add nothing to the atmosphere at all. But maybe, just maybe, they wanted to go and LISTEN to the atmosphere whilst enjoying the game - or to help you guys by justifying opening the Ormond in the first place. It's nonsense to suggest they're second class fans because they chose not to join in.
  17. You seem to prefer attacking Del to talking about the game. We're top of the league for flip's sake, and whatever happens elsewhere, that's not going to change because of today's result alone. The man makes mistakes but I'm sure you've burnt some chips before now too.
  18. Oh get over yourself - some folk go to the football to watch the football. Not to sing and act like an arse for 90 minutes.
  19. No, definitely not. He's a good golfer but not a footballer! Scott re-trained as a fitness instructor / personal trainer. Pretty sure he was working in England last I heard, might have moved on though.
  20. Indeed there is - but Ginger (and anyone else with the same opinion) has no right to criticise anyone that won't join in on a regular basis. Saints fans are very fickle. I wonder what the great atmosphere would have been like at Dunfermline if we'd gone 3-0 down in the first half, like they did at Dens last year? We're not the Tartan Army, that's for sure (and perhaps that's a good thing).
  21. Hate to piss on your chips Ginger, but you've got no right to get 'pissed' at people who pay good money to watch a game 40 miles from home against a team nobody really gives a toss about. You were being rather optimistic if you thought people could be shepherded into a 'choir' one week and would automatically do the same without prompting, a fortnight later. Whilst your efforts are worth applauding - with the club and media backing you so far - you have to remember that not everyone wants to get involved, and that you can't artificially generate atmosphere at a drab game. I would also warn you of the old culture around Saints, of the "who does that guy think he is?" variety, when someone puts their head over the parapet as some kind of super-fan. Not that it'll bother you, I guess, but I've heard quite a bit of it from Saints fans already. Some of the people on here also need to realise that not everyone goes to the football to sing and dance ("like a fanny" as someone said to me the other day) and might actually want to concentrate on the game, shout at the Saints players if they're rubbish, etc. It might be counter-productive but it's their right. Enjoy it while it lasts, and please don't bring back that guy with the bloody bagpipes.
