  1. You are vey observant not many people spot my number dyslexia (alcohol induced) maybe I should have written four five one. However with 1 5 4 I am open to suggetions who to play as the four forwards
  2. BBC stated "St Johnstone have announced that manager Tommy Wright will have "a routine operation" after suffering stomach pains. The Scottish Premiership side stated on their website that the 50-year-old was taken to hospital on Monday and was detained overnight for observation". The cause of the problem has now been established and he will undergo a routine operation tomorrow, they said. St Johnstone host Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday. The club say that coaches Callum Davidson and Alex Cleland will prepare the team for that fixture. Does not say if he will fit enough to attend and take charge of the team." Speedy recovery
  3. Like the formation. However do not agree May needs to play deeper. Has scored over 20 goals up front. I believe he needs support and not be left isolated. The wide midfielders and one centre attacking midfielder should be enought to help him regain his confidence and create scoring opportunities
  4. I don’t think the lack of a thread is due to apathy more anxiety and apprehension. TW has chopped and change his team so often (win or lose) we do not know what team he will play and what formation he will use. I think by his comments he will field a team not to lose the game. I personally hope he plays 4 5 1 so we do not get dominated in mid field. I will repeat the mid field I would chose but yet to be seen Wide Croft and O’Halloran, Dunne supporting May Witherspoon and Millar holding and protecting the back four I somehow think he will go for something completely different.
  5. We will never eradicate the old firm following in Perth. They are not football supporters they are glory hunters. We should be concentrating on the younger fan. Give them some incentive to come and support their local team. Go round the senior schools and give away tickets for home games. The seats lie empty and if they buy a programme and something to eat or drink the club would get a financial return as well as boostimg the crowd and hopefully fans for the future
  6. Yes we have had a good season and I for one want it to continue. You mention players who you think are struggling due to knocks and burned out heres a silly idea lets play those who are not carring knocks or burned out. For example O'Halloran (played 3 full games so far; Forfar did well and scored, Aberdeen again had a good game missed a good chance and hit the post and Dundee Utd was our best midfielder contributing offensivly and defensivly) Witherspoon who looks fresh, Cregg is another. I believe he should not change for change sake (as I said on a previous post he should have played the same team if all were fit). I am not totally convinved on burn out. Full time professionals should be able to play two games a week many of the top clubs do. I remember as an amateur footballer at the begining and end of the season we played two games a week for three weeks. May and Hasselbaink burned out do not think so. They are depressed because they are not on top form and not willing to work through it.
  7. TW said, "We need to get a positive result or a win against Hibs" This suggests that he will be going out not lose rather than win !!!!!. I believe in doing this he will probly play what in my opinion is our strongest formation 1 5 4 with mobile wide men making it 3 3 4 when attcking We certainly cannnot afford to lose this one
  8. If this and if that and if your Granny had balls she would be your Granda. We are now a top 6 team and we should play like a top 6 team. I do not mind losing if we lose trying to play footbal and go down fighting. I think you have lost the plot if you think all is well and we are over reacting.
  9. Copy of post in match commemts think this is a more appropriate place for it. Going back to the point I have been making for some time. TW is playing squad rotation and continually bringing Iwelumo on as sub proves it. Lets use Wotherspoon, O'Halloran, Hasselbaink and Dunne as an other example. Aberdeen Wotherspoon and Hasslebaink start (loss) Next game change Forfar Wotherspoon and O'Halloran start (win) Next game change Celtic Wotherspoon and Dunne start (loss) Next game change Inverness Wotherspoon and Hasselbaink start (loss) Next game change Motherwell Hasslebaink and Dunne start (win) next game change Aberdeen Wotherspoon, O'Halloran and Dunne start (loss) next game change Raith Hasslebaink and Dunne start (win) next game change Dundee UTD Wotherspoon, O'Halloran and Dunne start (win) next game change Ross County Hasslebaink and Dunne start (loss) next game change Watch out for next change Wotherspoon and O'Halloran turn to start anyone willing to bet against it If we are going to get win after win we need continuity not rotation.
  10. Man of the Match to me is our most oustanding player not our best player. I was not going to vote for the best of a bad bunch. No one was outstanding therefore voted for none of the above.
  11. Watched the game in Preston not happy.
  12. Adopting a threatening and aggressive attitude towards an opposing member of team staff. Players do this all the time they will face up to each other after a bad tackle etc they do not get shown a red card. The Officials and SFA are power mad. Agree with others managers should be passionate it shows they care about their team. But it is all down to the fourth official interpretation of what he seen. There may be TV evidence that can help TW. Lets hope a warning but I am not holding my breath. Go on TW get in to them.
  13. I am a great believer in continuity. Who thinks we should change the team from Wednesday if all are fit? He should not change it. I do not think squad rotation does anything to improve the team. The only reason I would change is if it was for a change in formation two up front (May and McLean). I would then play Dunne and Witherspoon as holding midfielders (their tackling mid week was outstanding). They would also protect our weakend back four. That leaves any two from three wide (Croft, O'Halloran and Hassslebaink). I Whatever he does lets hope he picks a winning team. Gutted I will miss the game in Preston but willl find a pub and cheer on the boys.
  14. Hard choice, as so many gave very good performances. I was torn between Dunne, O'Halloran and Witherspoon. For his solid tackling and all round performance I gave it to Dunne
  15. Were we fortunate to last night? Mackay Steven and Ciftci missed to golden chances before May scored a wonder goal. Yes we were fortunate. But you take you good fortune when it comes along because we have games where we were unfortunate to lose points. Did TW go for the win? I do not believe he did. May was far too often isolated up front. Witherspoon Dunne Millar McDonald and O’Halloran were playing defensively. Who was supposed to be supporting May? When we got the ball down and played I thought Witherspoon Dunne and O’Halloran all played well. I also thought all three carried out their defensive duties very well. Dunne and Witherspoon tackling was outstanding. The majority of their attacks were coming down our right and when TW switched O’Halloran to the right his paced nullified their speed down that side. Hence my surprised when he took him off. Croft did ok going forward when he came on but he could not handle Roberson’s speed. The last 10 minutes was heart wrenching stuff as all their attacks came down that side. Were we fortunate to win HELL NO we just played well as a team and got a great result.
  16. It would be a big decision by TW to drop May. Insted of giving him a rest it could put a dent in his confidence which is pretty low at the moment. With Mclean suspended he cannot drop him on Wednesday. Hasselbaink and O'Halloran are not out and out strikers. For me Hasslebaink is better wide. Still to make up my mind what is O'Hallorans best position. He looks calm on the ball, rarely wastes a ball and likes to run at defenders. Had good games against Forfar and Aberdeen. I would play him wide or behind the striker. One thing for sure after that shot on Saturday he not a left footer.
  17. Agree both May and Hasselbaink have been more interested trying to score from impossible positions rather than play someone in. Mclean is a team player who always has his head up looking for players. He played May and O'Halloran into scoring positions. Hope Hasselbaink now settles down and concentrates on the team scoring rather than looking for the Glory. Better winning 2v1 with Hasslebaink getting 2 assists than 1v1 with Hasslebaink scoring. (However I Think Nigel may disagree)
  18. Why all the doom and Gloom. We are in the semi final of the Scottish Cup. So what we got Aberdeen. We went into their back yard and gave as good as we got. The result went against us, had the gods been with us we would have won. If TW is positive and goes at them I believe we WILL beat them. So Cheer up all you sados
  19. We can only second guess why TW changed the team. There are a number of factors that he would have taken into account. Match fitness after mid week game, injuries no matter how slight, the cup tie on Saturday, squad rotation and the list goes on. We can only give our opinions and in my humble opinion is if all were fit and injury free he should not have changed the team. The old saying play one game at a time
  20. Like your post. Lets take positives out of this game. Compare it to the semi final. We got pumped at a neutral ground. Yesterday we went into their back yard and gave as good as we got. Unfortunatle the gods were against us. If we perform like this every week few could complain
  21. I have coaching licences from SFA and FA (did this course when I was in the Army) A number important rules that was was common to both. Play a formation that suits your players. do not try and make your players fit a formation. When making a substitution try and make it a direct position swap i.e. center mid for centre mid Do not take of centre mid, move forward to wide mid, wide mid to centre mid and sub put on up front. And relevent to his thread when you have a winning team keep playing it if you lose or draw do not change it as it could be a hic up or you were just beaten by a better team. Therefore TW should have kept his winning team. Only reason I can see for him changing it. He wanted to rest McLean for cup tie or wanted to keep his players happy by rotaing the team. But not a good enough reason for me
  22. I am ready to get hit with both barrels. In my humble opinion over the past few months Hasselbaink has become even more an individual trying to score goals than be a team player. During this period he has had a number of oppertunities to play some in but has decided to go for the glory, not the sign of a team player. I suppose like a lot of players, he sees scoring goals as the only statistic that gets you noticed (for new contract or transfer). Yes he did chase back on Saturday but only occsionally, the last 20 minutes he was blowing out his arse and could not get back. Some could say the same thing about Stevie May but he is a passenger we can carrry. We cannot carry two in the same team. I did not see him as Man of the Match More food for thought the best football we have played for a while was when Stevie May got taken off at Forfar we did not look for the ball over the top but played through the midfield (I would not drop May I may stupid but not that stupid), We need a mixture, we have become too predictable with every ball looking to play May in. ICT got tactics spot on play a deep line and no space to May to run into.
  23. Could not agree more. For me Wotherspoon behind May with O'Halleron and Croft wide. Let's go for a win
  24. I agree it should be sorted out on the traiing field. But who is he crossing the ball to? We do not have a ball winner in the air. Iwelumo is 6' 3" and when he jumps he is 6' 1". As we normally play with May up front on his own, we should concentrate in playing the ball on the deck and through balls for players to run onto
  25. Your quite right. I did not have the heart to put Millar's name on the team sheet but I suppose we are better off with 11 men on the park even if only 10 play
