  1. ‪Saints legend Jody Morris confirmed to play in Dave Mackay's testimonial game v Dundee on 6th October
  2. I am on the committee, and I have posted most of the messages re the dinner and the auction. I am presently out of the country on holiday with intermittent WiFi, hence Ghostie was asked to post messages re the Testimonial match. In any event, what does it matter who posts them messages, as long as the message is out there and as many people as possible attend.
  3. As Ghostie stated, this match is being organised by the Testimonial Committee. This game offers all Saints fans the chance to show their appreciation for one of our best ever players and the first Saints captain ever to lift the Scottish Cup. Let's get as many fans as possible to attend the game and make it a memorable occasion for Dave and his family.
  4. With no club matches that weekend, hopefully a good number of Dundee fans will make the short journey up the river to see their team and swell the coffers for the Testimonial fund. One of the best things I ever witnessed as a Saints fan (apart from the Cup Final) was the crowd at the concert hall when the open top bus arrived with our cup winning heroes. There were several generations of families, including many who had probably never even been to McDiarmid Park, all there to pay tribute to Tommy, CupTie, and the rest of the management and team. Hopefully as many of these people, as possible, will see this testimonial match as a specific opportunity to pay a personal tribute to a true club legend, who unfortunately had to call time on his playing career through injury, and never got the chance to say a proper goodbye to Saints fans, and allow us to say "Thanks for the memories Dave"
  5. Get him on a two year rolling contract!
  6. Bars at Dewars Centre will be open from 6pm, until just after 7 when people will be seated for event to start at 7:30
  7. The closing time for online bids has now passed. Good luck to those who have bid on the shirt and the boots. If you are successful, you will be contacted by a Testimonial Committee member asap after the auction at the sell out Testimonial Dinner on 2nd September
  8. If you are not going to the dinner, you now have less than 20 hrs left to register an online bid for Cuptie's cup final boots and or shirt. Online bids here or on Testimonial Facebook page will close at 1700hrs on Friday 25th August. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity.
  9. Bidding for Cuptie's Cup Final shirt stands at £210 at this time and his boots await an initial bid. These items WILL be sold on the night at his Testimonial Dinner, but deadline for registering a bid here is 5pm on Friday. I won't post details of highest bids again before that time, so if you want to be in with a chance of winning, please register your bid now
  10. For information of anyone feeling sorry that Dave is putting his shirt and boots up for auction. He is not destitute and does not have to auction them for financial reasons. He wanted to give St Johnstone fans the opportunity to get their hands on these important pieces of St Johnstone history and memorabilia . Please get your bids in on specific auction topic page.
  11. CupTie has his medal and his memories and noone can take them from him. He is more than happy for a Saints fan to get the opportunity to get his shirt and or boots
  12. Moderators, I hope this topic does not cause any issues, but this is probably the best method of highlighting this opportunity as widely as possible to Saints Fans around the world, as many may not follow the Testimonial Facebook page
  13. On 2nd September, Dave Mackay's testimonial dinner will take place at The Dewars Centre, Perth. Some fantastic auction lots will be sold on the night, but such is the value of two of these items to any Saints fan, it has been decided that they will be opened up for fans to pre register bids online. This will give an opportunity to Saints fans worldwide, who, for whatever reason, cannot attend the dinner the chance of getting their hands on these unique items. Dave Mackay, the first ever St Johnstone captain to lift the Scottish Cup, has generously agreed to allow the shirt and the boots he wore during the Scottish Cup Final to be sold at auction. The shirt and boots will be auctioned as individual lots and will be sold at the dinner but you now have the opportunity to pre register a bid online. The closing date to register an online bid will be 1700 hrs (UK time) on Friday 25th August. If you wish to register a bid, you can private message me opening bid and what you are prepared to bid up to. You should highlight whether bodies for boots or shirt and include your full name, address, telephone number and email address in order that you can be contacted if successful. No names will be highlighted on this topic. No auction items will be sent out to highest bidders until money pledged is paid I will highlight the upper bid on a couple of occasions before the closing date for bids
  14. CLUB POET ON BOARD FOR CUPTIE TRIBUTE Dinner on track for a sell-out ST JOHNSTONE’S official poet-in-residence will pay a personal tribute to Dave Mackay at the testimonial dinner on September 2. Lifelong fan Jim Mackintosh was delighted to accept the testimonial committee’s invitation to join the top table at the Booker sponsored event being held at Perth’s Dewars Centre. Committee chairman Scott Findlay welcomed the addition to the bill and confirmed that only a handful of tickets remain for the 350-capacity dinner. The deadline for snapping-up tickets is Friday, August 25 - if any are left. Saints fans have seized the opportunity to pay tribute to their 2014 Scottish Cup winning captain, who was forced to quit the game with a persistent hip injury. Jim, who broke new ground when he was appointed “The Makar of McDiarmid,” certainly won’t be fazed by the size of the audience in the Dewars marquee. He delighted fans at the club’s “Hall of Fame” dinner at Perth Concert Hall and recently addressed an army of ex-military personnel tackling the Cateran Yomp. “I’m looking forward to this tribute night to a genuine club legend and hopefully I will do Cuptie justice. It’s fantastic but no surprise that the testimonial committee are looking out the sold-out signs,” said Jim. *Remaining tickets, priced £50, are available through the Dave Mackay Testimonial Facebook page and from committee members. Auction items for the night include a signed and framed Gareth Bale Real Madrid shirt, an opportunity to join Tam and Stuart for a recording of “Off the Ball,” golf packages at Gleneagles and Castle Stuart – and Dave Mackay’s cup winning shirt and boots.
  15. Seems our chairman was correct to offer him a deal based on actual appearances as he is out injured long-term again!! (Thankfully Dundee Utd picking up tab this time) He has been paid quite handsomely for lying on physio couch over last couple of seasons.
  16. AMAZING auction prize at Dave Mackays testimonial dinner on the 2nd of September. Cupties Cup final strip and boots!!! If ever there was A MUST HAVE prize for any Saints fan! Only25 tickets left out of 350 that were available!!! If your interested in going email cuptietestimonial@gmail.com
  17. Only around 30 tickets left to go before this event is a total sell out of 350. If you still have not got a ticket and want to go, don't hang about and get one now to avoid disappointment. There will be some amazing raffle and auction prizes, including sporting memorabilia, rounds of golf, bottles of spirits, and other one off amazing prizes.
  18. Forget Cummins, I'd have backed myself to hit the target with the open goal header that Ando missed!!
  19. There are now over 280 tickets booked, with still room for a few more. With reference to a video of main parts, I will raise at next committee meeting on Tues 15th. We still are keen to gather more raffle and auction prizes, and if you wish you can pm me and I can arrange to pick up if you have anything suitable. There will be some very good auction items, many of which will be extremely collectable. It is hoped that people will get the opportunity to register online bids, so that exile Saints and others unable to attend the dinner will also get an opportunity to bid.
  20. Tickets for the dinner are selling well with over 250 now booked. There is still time if you wish to book but be quick. For those that have already booked, thankyou, it promises to be a fantastic night!
  21. Anthony Stokes is everything a respectable club who want to try and attract families and youngsters to the club wouldn't want. A talented footballer maybe, but a complete A**e otherwise
