  1. Yep, Hearts finished 2nd

Great days! I arranged a mini bus for the New Year day fixture at Tyncastle- 0-0. 3 lads never made it ( hungover) and naturally the price went up for the Bus.

We were all pissed as Newts from the night before and big ruptions before we left having to ask for £6.50 instead of a fiver to cover the fallen. The old driver Paddy says in his unforgettable Irish brogue- " wid ye all be sittin down now lads are this wee bus is hedin back to the fookin pub"!

  2. wasn't called ormonds ginge,it was pasquinels

Hahhaha! Fantastic memories!  Haven't heard that name in decades since I left Perth. That was a great season too. Were Hearts in that division that year? Can't be bothered to google I wheeling it on memory.

  3. Simon f****** Stainrod. Great game, after Falkirk had got off to a great start and were 2 up after 10 minutes we pummelled them and finally got the breakthrough 5 mins from half time. I was thinking "this is going to be a smashing second half - what is that flying over Lindsey Hamilton's head"?

  4. Hope your dad enjoys his treat Mainstand, ignore the fannie$ taking the pi$$,i'm well aware how loyal you both have been for decades, and certainly not pretentious people.

Whoa hold on Tonto! This was in jest. I read the guys posts. I was touched by Mains recent posts about taking his Dad.

We are Saints, on a proud day.

  5. Brilliant....a good number going from Luncarty.......keep them coming in......what about Dunning......Dunkeld ,Errol, BAlbeggie,.....surely Newburgh?, Guildton barmy army?.......Murthly? Forgandenny?

Grapevine tells me there is a good few from Bridge of Earn going, I'll try and confirm numbers.

Going back to Stanley being a great supporter of the Saints,  I would probably agree- they would be up there. The Lennons and Moran Dynasty!

Great support, even if they are a bunch of nutters. Sort of drunken loud noisy relatives you know are going to cause a fight at the wedding but they are there when you need them in a tight spot.

  6. 25 years following St Johnstone..... £20k..

Organising 4 buses and 173 fans for buses £1980

Buying 95 tickets for your mates for the game £2018

Realising that you forgot to get yourself a seat for your clubs first ever Scottish cup final... priceless.

Ha haaaa!  Another anecdote that will get a lot of mileage over the years.

I applaud your complete dopeyness sir.

  7. I have heard a few stories of people, who although not Saints fans themselves, are attending on behalf of friends / family members who were Saints through and through but have now sadly departed. It really hammers home what an historic moment this is for our club and just how much it should mean to each and every one of us that are lucky enough to be around at this time.

I truly think that the club should select some of the posts from WAP over the last couple of weeks and read them out to the players. It can only inspire them

That's a great idea. I'm pretty sure this would bring home to the team just how much this would mean to us fans.

  8. I am coming up for the match from En-ger-land. My Dad, who moved to England in his twenties, was a Perth man and born in George Street in 1930. Sadly gone, St Johnstone were his team. I am going for him to shout on the Saints. I just wish he could have been there.

Just bought my ticket today. I got through at the 169th attempt. Jock Stein Stand.

I am coming on the train from Shrewsbury via Crewe. I got lucky as the return fare was only £30. My only problem would be if there were penalties (God forbid) as I have to catch the 18.40 from GC!

    Glory hunter? Yes.

    PB

This is pretty touching. Your Dad will be so proud of you. If you miss the train back you won't be stuck for a somewhere to lay your head.

  9. Sad news. Us older Saints will remember Rangers when they were a great side with some genuine great players and Jardine was up there. These bunch of lying, cheating bastards who call themselves Rangers now should hang their heads in shame at the indignity they have heaped on old greats.

    RIP Sandy.

  10. Hi

I have a very good freind who owns a large pub in central Glasgow and is open to the idea of making it an unofficial saints pub...possibly putting on food etc for fans.

If i was to make this definate, would buses and people come to it pre match or are people generaly going straight to the stadium?

    Its in St Enoch Square.

Just testing the water before confirming with the manager.

    Cheers

    how far from Parkhead?

  11. Picked up bus tickets last night and enjoyed a nice pint- brought back happy memories still a great club. Many thanks to Alan for sorting out my tickets.

First time I've travelled with the club for a lot of years now; could one of the organising committee please post some guidelines for the big day.

Some of us are out of town; what time do we need to be at Barossa street- 13 buses = a lot of people. I know some of the buses are at different venues before the match- can we get food at these venues, how long do we have to get lubed up before leaving for Celtic Park?

    Thank you

  12. It's me!

Sorry but car already full driving up, otherwise might have been able to offer a lift. The bus I've booked is from Perth.

No Problem, my pal is an Owl staying in London now after a 10 year stay in Perth. He is coming up with wife a couple days before but hopefully we might have a few adult beverages on the big day.

  13. Cheers for the offer. There's a group of 6 of us heading from Dundee, I just booked a people carrier at lunch time for us with me as designated driver. Decided it was best to have transport sorted ASAP.

Cool, Speedwell Bar on the Perth road at night if the Gods are with us.

Sorry a bit off topic, who are the Sheffield Saints?

My pal is from Sheffield and is coming up for the game

  15. Was wondering the same - 7 or so of us leaving from Dundee in the same situation!

4 of us travelling to Perth on Saturday morning to travel with Barossa- can you try and get travel from Perth to the final?

Could maybe sort something out to and from Perth

  16. My first post and the question makes me look rather obvious but hey.

Anyway, reside near St.Andrews now and have managed to arrange travel to the cup final with the fine lads from Barossa club.

Buses leaving 9.30.am I believe, is there any pre travel hospitality being arranged at this fine establishment?
