  1. I thought, when Samuel came, he would get about a goal every 3 games.
  2. Speaking of reserve games, the main website has a reserve game down for Arbroath for yesterday. No news on this being delayed on either Arbroaths or Saints website. A bit irritating how lackluster the reserve games are treated. I enjoy them as much as the first team games, its a different kind of atmosphere, more involved with the players and closer to the action. Must be a good queue of reserve games to have. Better get them arranged before the season ends.
  3. Any word on St Johnstone V Scotland Under 21's result?
  4. I'm really chomping at the bit for some home league action here. Ignoring the Rangers semi-final, it feels like years since we've had a game at McDiarmid. Not even a cheapy reserve tie to keep us going
  5. Is this closed game the Saints first team against the Scotland under 21s squad? If so, could be a great workout for both teams.
  6. Jermaine scored 2 fairly great goals. First he ran it into the box and dinked a great finish past the keeper, second was a goalies punt, headed on, jermaine runs on, controls, turns the defender and sinks it home. Still, he blatantly elbowed the Leeds goalkeeper in the face and claimed "nothing happened".
  7. When you see the under 17's dishing out the wins like that, you have too hope that in a few years time, these boys can make the step-up and do the job for the first team.
  8. If we win the league this season, I'd rather we did it with a tense and nail-biting second half of the season, desperate for points, laughing at defeat and embracing a draw, just to nick it on the last day (or at dundee) and set up a good celebration FAR MORE than I would be 14 points clear knowing the league is ours. If we don't win on the other hand...
  9. The game/goal I'm talking about happened at home and probably in February/March last year.
  10. Not too surprised with this. Scolari just sounds daft in press conferences. I'd hate to be a Chelsea fan. So much money spent, so much wasted potential, so little reward.
  11. Have to agree, apparently his contract is up at the end of this season and it would pretty much be a no-brainer too keep him on. Speaking of contacts, anyone else running out this year or next.
  12. At the time I was a bit puzzled over why we signed Caffs, especially given we had just shipped McManus too Morton but have to say he does everything you can ask of a central defender. His distribution may be lacking but he's reasonably physically decent and knows where to be on the pitch. Have to say Craig has improved a lot over the past year. I remember seeing him in a game near the start of last year, can't remember who it was against, where he seemed to drift in from his own half, run the entire length of the pitch skinning 3 opposition players and then rifling a goal in. Thought he had potential form that moment and he's built on that with every game he plays.
  13. Wee Johnny? Still mind Kevin James instructions too that lad on our last reserve game against Arbroath. "Johnny son, back if you need me" "Johnny, use your head son, get in there son, heed it" "Stay on your feet johnny, stay up" *johnny piledrives a slide tackle that knocks the ball off the arbroath player and out for our throw in* "KEVS" * James before heading the ball 50 yards up field.
  14. Based on the past year, I'd have to say the most improved player is Gary Irvine. Seemed like a decent if young right back at the start of 07 but he really does appear to mature every game he plays.
  15. I'm like any other Saints fan here, I'd rather my team was winning rather than drawing, that much is obvious. Given however, that we came from 2-0 down at Ross County and apparently had 3 goals clocked off that simply should have stood, I'll take it in good faith that this drawing blip is over and we are back to winning ways soon. Screw it, I'm calling 3-0 for our home game against Livingston.
  16. Speaking of which, I can't wait too see how cozy Willo Flood is going to keep the bench at celtic.
  17. Woulnd't particulary like to see this happen but thats football and if it does, I'm sure he would get a round of applause from the Saints fans upon visiting McDiarmid Park again. Until the bast' shoved a few past our Main man. Which would probably happen.
  18. Not going to moan about the result. When I first heard we were 2-0 down at half time I thought that was our unbeaten run ended and the expectation to try and get another run started was growing. I and many other on this forum have given Derek Holmes a lot of criticism recently because of his lack of goals. And to be fair he has only scored 2 goals in 20 appearances in the league. For him to come out and get 3 apparently legitimate goals chocked off and also to grab our first shows he's got that ability. Was it Gavin Swankie that crossed for Holmes goal? I've been an admirer of Swankie since he came to the club, a typical skilled winger able to beat his man and put in a good cross combined with a bit of flair. He hasn't had a great deal of chances and to be fair he seems to be a hit and miss player but I think he needs a run for his confidence. Now, I'll be very happy if our next home game results in a win. Fair enough if you draw on the road, especially in a place like Ross County but it now puts pressure on us to perform at home. Roll on Livingston. A win here and the lads might just break the record with style...
  19. Can you attend the under 17s game at McDiarmid on sunday?
  20. Not exactly a Saints related topic but since the match is tonight, and since its taking place at McDiarmid park, thought I'd put this one out there. Scotland under 20's are playing Wales under 20's in a rugby match at McDiarmid park tonight, totally free of charge to attend. Not a huge rugby fan myself but I've always wanted to see a game live in action, sounds like a worthy prospect so I think I might head down, rangle up a few friends and see what its like.
  21. You have to have a combination of both, thats why football is a team sport and thats what its all about. Saying that, looking at the talented players in our squad versus the hard workers, you would have to pick the guys with the work rate. Savo, Millar, Irvine and Rustibits go in the squad ahead of Sammy, Morris and Sheerin for me. I have to say I prefer the grafters.
