  1. Hopefully mclaren and mcluskey will get a run out and daal instead of stewart. However, I bet stewart gets on. Hopefully an easy win with either jacko or the doc scoring. mon the saints!
  2. I would rest sheerin then, put mciness in the middle and put mclaren on the bench.
  3. I see mclaren is in someones line-up, when is he back and what is wrong with him?
  4. I would go: Cuthbert Lawrie Ando Mcmanus Dyer Wetherston Hardie Sheerin Mcluskey Deuchar Jacko bench:peaso, main, daal, rocco, irvine. I would rest quite a few players for what will probably be a hard game on saturday. Keep mciness, ruti and stanic fit. I would also sub the likes of deuchar, hardie and sheerin in the second half. Need to give some players a game, as I dont think too many people would be bothered if we got knocked out. mon the saints!
  5. A far better approach to the game today than previous ones as we at least attempted to play from the back rather than hoofing it ALL the time. Saying that, bar the first 15 minutes and the period we scored, there was a distinct lack of creativity from both sides, but i think we just about deserved our win. Although thistle knocked the ball about well, I honestly couldnt see them scoring untill we gifted them a goal. But after that we were a bombscare at the back. I thought all our players got at least pass marks today and although I have been the main offender slagging mciness in recent weeks, his effort and general play at least deserved pass marks. See what a difference it makes moving sheerin in centre and dropping stewart? Finally coyle has stood up and made some much needed changes and well done to him, even tho we were far from impressive. Jacko and the doc looked good together and i think there could be a partnership in the making. Jacko held the ball up well, distribution was good and had great movement. My only concern is that I thought he was faster. The defence was solid full stop, irvine did well to stop murray from thistle driving at him and mcmanus and ruti were solid at the back. As for the goals it was a good finish from the doc and I admit I also thought it was wide! Rocco had a good game and scored a sweet goal. However like most OF players will need to be pushed to get the full out of him, but looks like a good player. I do wonder why stewart got on instead of mcluskey, as we could have pushed wetherston upfront. I mean what has mckluskey done wrong, especially the fact that he is coyles signing and mclaren will be back soon. Wetherston definetly changed the game, however im still not sure if he is a winger. All in all a better performance and hopefully with hardie back we can now push on and finally start our season. Think we should punt stewart back to falkirk.
  6. Im going to go with the Doc, as he is a great target man and got his goal. I feel he will become first pick with the rest of the strikers scrambling to partner him.
  7. Aye, well played jacko, twas a solid game today. Held the ball up well, distribution was good and his movement is that of a proper striker. Must also add that it looked like him and deuchar had been playing together for sometime, could be a good partnership there. My only worry is that its the first full game iv seen jacko and he dosent seem to have that much pace, which between him and deuchar, could be something we will miss. But aye, well played. A country mile better than stewart. With peaso, milne and daal in the mix, lets just send stewart packing.
  8. I would go. Main Irvine ruti/ando mcmanus dyer rocco hardie sheerin mcluskey deuchar jacko subs: cuthbert, wetherston, peaso, moon, lawrie At the end of the day this is a diddy cup and i dont think too many would be distressed at loosing by playing a few youth players and dropping the likes of stewart, daal and mciness. I would be tempted to put moon in the starting line-up as well. I would start with dyer as a natural left back as stanic dosent seem fit.
  9. It took us till the 85th minute to have a shot on target that pretty much sums the game up. Never mind the strikeforce, we have the slowest midfield in the division and that is the downfall. We need to stop thinking about promotion and start thinking about getting a decent team first. As realistically, im not bitter here or angry but we are not getting promoted. Dunfermline deserved the points as they were far quicker and created more chances, although they clearly need a striker. Irvine had a shocker at the back and the wee left winger had him in his pocket all game, irvine just sat and watched him all game. Hopefully he will get better. To the same extent harper was getting the better of ando, but ando was out of position and at least stood up to him. How did stewart actually become a professional player, im very harsh here and I feel for the guy as he was clearly gutted when he came off, but he is dire and should be sent back. The positives? We looked far better when we hooked stewart and finally mciness and we had some decent drive with peaso, wetherston and jacko. Also deuchar is clearly going to be a good addition to the squad as long as we can add someone that isnt stewart to play alongside him! Rocco played average and i feel he could come onto a game. However as someone said earlier about his time at kilmarnock, he strolled through the game. With all dunfermlines possesion and the fact it would have been daylight robbery, how the feck did sheerin miss that chance? I cant actually slag mciness too much, as it wasnt his worst game, but what did he actually do in the game. He didnt get forward and everytime the pars got the ball he never had the legs to catch them. Sheerin needs to be moved inside with jinky on the wing. Its a total farce (unless injured) that jinky never got a jersey today! As for daal? On wednesday night neither stewart or mciness should get stripped, simple. This will show them they need to fight for their shirt. With all these negatives, i can still see us turning the corner if coyle starts playing football rather than making friends. I just cant see us winning the league. mon the saints!
  10. Ruti was Mom by a country mile, absoloutely solid. Thought mcmanus, deuchar, hardie and maybe ando got pass marks, with peaso, wetherston and jacko doing well for the bench. Who voted irvine? He had a shocker!
  11. Thats the thing with coyle, he seems too loyal to his friends/signings. We all know that mciness should be dropped so he has to fight for his place. There is no way it will happen, I can only hope. Its simple, he's playing gash so shouldnt be in the line up!
  12. Personally I would go Main Irvine Mcmanus ruti/anderson stanic Roco Hardie Sheerin Mckluskey Wetherston Deuchar Bench:Cuthbert,Jackson,Peaso,Moon,Dyer/doris With stanic it all depends if he is fit, if not put dyer in with doris on the bench. The central defence will depend on who is fit. Im hoping that with them both having played in celtic reserves that irvine and roco may have some sort of understdning together and that wetherston with pace and deuchar being a target man could create a partnership. However the team is likely to be nothing like this and I expect jackson to be dropper and daal and stewart to feature with mciness in the middle, wetherston right and maybe peaso to start. We shall see.
  13. Il jump in by saying i agree with the majority of your view, good post indeed. I also feel that this is the view of the majority of the saints fans, I do wonder why coyle is so adverse to change? Especially when some of the first team are absoloute pash this season. I think that youths should be put in at the right time, but they need to deserve there place in the team. I remember people going on about mcmanus ( the ginger one? ) and every time i seen him i thought he was very poor, just my opinion. I also agree with the view that I think some of them have missed the boat, through no fault of there own. I especially think that jackson has been treated harshly, especially starting behind the likes of lilley last season. Does anyone else think why the feck lilley was braught in ahead of jackson last season, what a disaster of a panic buy. I would only start dyer if stanic was not fit, which seems to be the case. As for doris and mcallum, I dont know there potential but the lack of first team action, especially due to the fact we have so many strikers and are playing poor, must mean coyle does not rate them. I do however think the time is right to boot mciness and put moon in, as no matter how poor he plays he aint going to be as bad as mciness. However, I have a small feeling that moon would do a good job from what iv seen.
  14. We now have peaso, milne, deuchar, daal, stewart, wetherston and jackson as possible strikers. Surely this must spell the end for at least one of the strikers? I think there will be a mid afternoon message on the official site about one of them leaving. I fear jackson may end up on loan and could struggle to break into the team, not on ability, but purely as said before that coyle wants to give daal and stewart a run in the team. Otherwise, how long will daal sit on the bench, or how long will we pay him to do nothing. I hope one of the strikers comes good, but before he came i said he looked a bit of a donkey. As for stewart, if he does not play surely he will be sent back. It will be interesting to see what happens with this lot. Its going to be a nightmare if we have all these strikers and we dont get a partnership or a goal scorer, never mind the embarasement!
  15. I agree that mclaren is a confidence player, but i just think that sheerin needs too be moved to the centre with hardie too give the midfield a bit of drive. I also think that mciness played well when the team played well last season and was hit or miss a bit like lawrie. At the end of the day, most teams that have been promoted from this division over the last few seasons have had more pace and drive in there midfield, something we need to rectify. Just my opinion.
  16. mcinness was a coyle signing as well along with lawrie. Its not the signings that are the main problem, its the fact that mainly the ageing players are strolling into the team when they are doing feck all to deserve it. When is mclaren back? Mclaren and jinky on the wings, with hardie and anyone but mciness in the centre, is the only half decent midfield i can think off. It seems that the transfer window is not going to bring us anything!
  17. Personally I would go. Main Irvine Ruti Mcmanus Dyer Mcluskey Moon Hardie Sheerin Wetherston Peaso
  18. I wasnt at the game, and its like you dont even need too be at the game as you know whats comming, so why no change? I seen from the dundee game that sheerin and mciness will struggle this season, that the midfield is far too slow and dis-jointed and also that despite his effort stewart is 3-4 seasons from becoming a junior league footballer. The soloution is obvious and has been said so many times its embarasing, especially on coyles behalf. It has been so long since we have had a central midfielder who creates and has drive?! I mean even when kids set up there champ man teams, they have a sitting midfielder and an attacking one, why not saints? That aside, with hardie, james and savo back in the team I still think we are only short of a central midfielder and a striker and along with some much needed gelling and confidence we should have a team. But will these players come? Im not bothered when the transfer deadline is, because iv been waiting for a creative midfielder since coyle came. Like other people said he needs to start dropping the likes of peaso, sheerin, mcinness etc to make them fight for there jersey. Im sure things will turn around...
  19. Dundee Hamilton Saints Partick Morton Dunfermline Livingston Queens Stirling Clyde Appreciate if this is too late, but thought i would pap one in anyway. Been on holiday. mon the saints.
  20. More to the point, can he play in the centre of midfield? If so, could be an option.
  21. Im well late again, but can I join this? I take it is too late too put a league prediction?
  22. Clyde's young team generally run us off the park, so i would start 4-3-2-1, then if we havent scored put more people up front. Main Anderson Mcmanus Ruti Stanic Moon Mcinness Sheerin Wetherston Mcluskey Daal Subs:Cuthbert,Peaso,Stewart,Lawrie,Jackson
