  1. The Eses stadium new build has been slowed down and unlikely to open this year.

The current board of directors, who may go if Eses are relegated, are very keen for Saints to open the new ground.

It all depends if they are relegated and the new board (if elected) are as keen to have Saints play them.

Was at the new ground in Februarythis year, the major issue for their fans is there is no train or tram service to the new park, its a good 10 miles from the Ataturk Stadium and well out of town, they may be waiting for the train/Tram situation to resolve.

There are very few pubs anywhere near the ground so another "Bar Street" will have to be in old Bar Street if we play them.

The Eses fans are still Saints daft and have told the Eses directors they only want to play Saints at the new stadium opening.

  2. So here is the info I got

"The bus did not get into Edinburgh until nearly 13.50"

"The bus driver also had difficulty finding the bowling club."

The bus was advertised to leave Perth at 12.30 this time advertised prior the booking at the Bowling Club being taken, It would not be expected to be at the Bowling Club much earlier that 13.50 so why commit to the booking and leave the Bowling Club high and dry with the cost of the catering they provided.

Quite why the bus driver would find difficulty getting to the Bowling Club considering there were many patrons on the bus who had been there many times before and knew where it was and have the capability to access direction info on mobile phones is astonishing.

To answer Tam (Sixties Saintee) this is not a poor reflection on Saints at all, but a highly embarrassing issue to the Barossa Street bus section.

I could not care less where the bus subsequently went before the game but I do expect someone from the Committee to e-mail the Bowling Club to apologise for their non appearance.

  3. An interesting take on the away buses Letham.

The facts are that there were many away buses that lost hugs sums of money and these should not run again this year.

To suggest that it balances itself out so that's OK is not prudent, many donations and raffles and successful bus credit balances should be used to assist St Johnstone youths, not used as a spurious financial balancing tool for poor bus number planning.

  4. The home bus for last position is clear, it loses money, this can not continue in its present state, the Committee are right in calling for this to stop.

Last year me and Postie looked at the finances and numbers and the home average was 22 people per bus.

I see some merit in exploring other options as things look as though they could fracture with rival positions being taken.

The major cost in retaining the Perth Exec bus (£130.00) is the fact you are hiring a driver to sit about which is needless.

If a continued average of 22 patrons use the "bus" 6 seater taxis would be a cheaper option (got one up last year £7.00) 4 taxis x £7.00 x up and down =£56.00.

I would imagine a taxi company would make an arrangement to get you up and down at a better cost if used all the time.

You need to remember that the losses are being denied from your main aim of supporting St Johnstone youths.

The Away buses are a different issue, based on last years turnout figures buses that clearly lost significant money should not be run this year, I know Postie has the facts and figures to draw up this list.

I do not believe looking to set up a "rival" away bus will help at all as this would be the end of Barossa St in my opinion.

There are damn few of us as it is can we not just pull together and sort this out without fuss.

  5. Have been fortunate over the years to spend a bit of time at Frankies fine pub and his customers at the Bullfrog.

The Saturday night after a Saints game (bout 1am) with his locals and my sons University mates will live long in the memory.

Will be at the club on Saturday morning to welcome them as should those that SHOULD make the effort.

We had a fantastic time at the Bullfrog before the cup final and Frankie and his staff did us proud.

Spent tonight with Ian Grant the bus convenor sorting the finances from the QOS cup game.

There has been a positive surplus on the buses and with the raffle a decent sum will go a ways to offset the losses the buses incurred to date.

Thanks to Ian Grant (Postie) for the effort and the time spent organising same.
