I'm not a great believer in buying favour at a football club but, in this day and age, what would be wrong if big Stuart Cosgrove could be persuaded to make a kindly donation to the club for the privilege of having a stand dedicated in his name?

Other than being a fairly vocal public supporter of Saints, what on earth has Stuart done to deserve something like that?

This whole issue does the Chairman a lot of credit - there's next to nothing dedicated to his name at McDiarmid. The closest you get is the "Chairman's Suite" for hospitality, but even that isn't named after him.

The very fact that the Chairman insisted on the stadium being named after Bruce McDiarmid, who was probably the biggest benefactor connected with the new stadium, probably tells you his thoughts on all this.
