  1. Not long registered on WAP and just looked on this thread! Obviously a bit late for these games mentioned but if run continues then would be happy to share car in the future! Presume you enjoyed the Pars game?! Magic! Flight booked for Sat at Dens, should be good. Fingers crossed it's on!
  2. Agree Mike, they all help! Just wanted to add, great work on the dundee forum. Very amusing!
  3. Fair enough, you are in a better location to judge that than me! Only going on what some are saying on their forum. TBH more concerned about game being on! Some on dundee forum saying weather looking bleak. So Finnersfan, any chance of a weather prediction direct from dundee? Got my flight booked so hope tae feck it's no off! They have undersoil I presume?
  4. Sense of humour on the dundee forum. . . . . . jacobite1 Internationalist United Kingdom 445 Posts Posted - 25 November 2008 : 15:38:00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sticking to the prediction I made yesterday on P&B: I'm going to go for a conservative 9-5 scoreline in our favour. A hat-trick from Antoine-Curier, from Deasley (whilst sitting on Antoine-Curier's shoulders) and from Jocky Scott (in a surprise move, he's registered himself as a player). The Farmers' goals come from a bizarre backwards overhead kick from Malone on the halfway line, beating celebrity 'keeper Dave MacKinnon for an own-goal. We then let Swankie have a hat-trick, just for ol' times' sake, and no hard feelings. And then a Paton rocket-propelled free-kick hits off the St Johnstone crossbar, comes off floodlights left and right, and then dribbles past MacKinnon (asleep) for the fifth. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better. . . . paulo45 Forum Member United Kingdom 36 Posts Posted - 25 November 2008 : 20:40:11 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2-1 to the Mighty Dark Blues. We're battling well just now and Jocky will have the team well fired up for this one. If Saints bring more than 1500 it will be a first for the 'fermers.' Takes them to muster over 2000 at their home games! Maybe they're planning on bringing some of their cardboard cut-outs to boost the away end! They might even sing more than one song! Mike and The Ghost doign a great job winding them up on their forum, worth a visit!!
  5. "Dundee's sectarian links have been discussed elsewhere". What the. . . . . . You have managed to miss most of the points I was trying to make, infact the only topic from my post I was NOT interested in raising was sectarian bullshit, and you managed to raise it! Must be from living a few hundred miles away now but I really couldn't give a toss about anything sectarian! You managed to pick up on ONE word still commonly used (see other posts) but if you care read past this one word and pick up on any of my other thoughts, would be glad to discuss. Otherwise, enjoy the game! Sectarian. . . The Dairy. . . .. . . .OK!
  6. A very likely outcome. Cheers!! I know this will build through the week, but refering to my original post on this thread, should we be looking to get into ground early, build atmosphere early, cheer players as they come out for warm up etc Basically all suggestions made for EEP. I know things become boring if repeated too much but this surely is now a HUGE game. Thoughts. . . . . .
  7. Agree. . . . tried to make this point on a thread 'dundee FORUM v WAP'. Really hope the fans turn out in force as it looks like the soap-dodgers are trying to rally a big home support (see their forum on official site)!
  8. Good to know about the place buzzing. Would the customery drinks be happening in Perth or is there a pub in Dundee where Saintees usually meet? Thinking about contacting 208 or other supporters clubs to see if any places on buses left. Failing that, train I guess as driving doesn't appeal. Any advice out there?
  9. Dens derby boost for Del Nov 21 2008 by Gordon Bannerman, Perthshire Advertiser Friday STUART McCaffrey is hoping Saints fans turn out in force for next week’s Tayside derby in Dundee. McCaffrey was stunned by the backing 1600 fans offered during the recent away day at Dunfermline and he’d love to see them all in Dundee as Saints bid to extend their magnificent unbeaten run to 10 games. “There will be a great atmosphere at Dens. Sometimes it’s pretty quiet in the First Division but our fans were amazing at East End Park and we’d love to give them another win to celebrate.” Dundee might be trailing Saints by eight points but McCaffrey isn’t writing them off as potential title challengers. “Look how well we have done after putting a run together. The onus is now on us to keep it going,” he said. Manager Derek McInnes said: “The derby is a great game to look forward to. It would be magic if we got a similar turn-out of fans to the Dunfermline game. That was magic. LET THE BUILD UP BEGIN. . . . .
  10. Not technical enough to attach link, sorry, but just had a look at the dundee forum on their official site. There are already a few posts encouraging the scum to turn out in large numbers on Sat and make some noise! (Is our stand down wind, hope at least a few of them shower before the game!) Anyway, if they are intending building some hype, should WAP not retaliate. Derry v WAP! I know Mr Ginger Baker hinted that this one should take care of itself and no initiatve has been planned as such, but already talk of where the 'choir' should congregate has been posted. Could WAP quickly arrange a 'We are Perth' banner! We Are Perth on a banner would be quite good to have anyway and wherever it is flying/ hung, we should encourage most (understanding some prefer to sing from their own choice of location) 'singers' to gather in this area. Thoughts, plans, ideas. . . . . . The players said how much the noise at EEP helped. We cannot let the scum be lifted in a similar way. We have to out-think and out-sing the great unwashed. A non-stop wall of sound. 3 POINTS NEXT SAT AND THE TABLE MAKES VERY GOOD READING. IT'S A HUGE GAME. LET'S GET THE BLUE ARMY ON THE MARCH AGAIN. If we help motivate the boys to 3 points on Sat, then the 'Ormand' day is much more likely to be a success IMO.
  11. Certainly hope so, just booked flight to come up for this one! Last time I was at Dens there was open terracing behing the goal! Looking forward to sampling a big Derby atmosphere in 'new' stand for myself rather than via mobile phone of my bro!
  12. Thanks to all for your thoughts, interesting reading! Everything from tossing a coin to quotes from Alice in Wonderland!! From advice and on the basis that Dens is first, booked the red eye for next Sat. Can't wait! Going to be climbing the walls come Friday! Will see what happens for Ormand day! Might be retracing your steps at 6am GB! Are WAP congregating in Dundee? Which pubs are fans going to? Nice to reflect on stories from years gone by Ginger! You must be single and loaded or married and skint!! Impressive. I've been south for 17 years, always make it during holidays and the odd weekend. From days living in Perth recall big away trips to Alloa (Andy B!), Ayr of course and at home the big cup ties v Rangers (Johnny Brogan) and Aberdeen, when they bought the segragation! Jimmy Morton, favourite player for years. Aye, happy days indeed. . . . . . Thanks again, see or hear you all in the land of Scum next Sat. LETS FILL THE AWAY STAND, BRING IT ON!
  13. I can affored ONE journey up from the deepest south before Xmas. Dens next week or the uniqueness that will be the Ormand day! Which would you choose and why? Nice situation to be in though, trying to decide which 'big day' to choose from. I feel we can just about start to feel good times around the corner. Come on Saintees. . . Oh aye. . .was going to say, anything special being arranged for Dens, especially now the stakes seem to have been raised following todays results?! Ginger. . . ? I did see seating arrangements had been discussed. Baloons etc like at EEP?
  14. Great work ginger, cheers! There seems to be a few Saintees living in the deepest darkest south! I have been up three times this season and most enjoyed it when I left Fri night, stopped over in a Manchester travel lodge which has a bar and offers a nice cooked breakfast on Sat morning, then finish 4 hour trip on Sat morning rolling into McD in plenty of time for game. Anyone from south east wish to share petrol money? Alternatively, with all these Saintees initiatives and real excitement being generated, how about a few Southern Saintees meeting and travelling up for these 'initiative' games? Open to any ideas, plane, train, coach, car whatever. Anyone else down here up for it? I think we should get piped in to the Ormand for our efforts by the way!!!! On another note, if we are looking for ideas for Ormand Day, we should look no further than that video of the red ultras. Didn't realise how much they did. There away support at Parkhead, fantastic sight. Wee plastic blue and white flags from club as they have in red and white would possibly work? Thanks again Ginger, you have given some long distance fans real incentive to make the long journey north on a more regular basis again!
  15. I do see where you are going and long term is the bigger picture, but to reach long term, short term initiatives need to be successful first! As a few people have said in various posts, it is more about reaching the 'fair weather' fans than the regulars. The beauty of initiatives like this, as proven last week, are that they might appeal to those who don't always attend. I wonder whether, after a week of posts (from the regulars!) about improving the atmosphere at McD, the atmosphere was any better today? My old man might be knacking on a bit but said he couldn't say the atmosphere was much better, if at all. While we have enjoyed good times at McD, things are not going to improve again over night and especially. Gingers ideas have imagination and create a buzz, which is why thus far they have achieved relative success, albeit just one day but we are talking about it and how we can build on it!! By having a "Massive North Stand" day or "Fill the North" or whatever you want to call it, you are more likely, by way of being imaginitive and offering something different, to catch the eye of the 'fair weather' fan! Once the experience has been had, and of course the team keep producing, you then have more chance of improving attendance at the North end of the East and therefore the atmosphere. LONG TERM GOAL: Aim to force the club, by way of attracting numbers, to open all 4 stands for one big game (v Dundee likely) right at the business end of the season.
  16. In my haste not to be last to post an update, have sent this twice! Leaving scores to the experts!! Squeeky bum time now. . . . come on Saintees! Hope the fans are chipping in with a few songs!
  17. Scum up 1 nil. Ton up 4 - 1 now. Quicker, or shall I just give up on score updates?!!!
  18. Scum up 1 nil. Quicker, or shall I just give up on score updates?!!!
  19. Nice one! As long as the scores stay the same, I'll be happy to be laughing stock for the afternoon!!
  20. You were quick off the mark! Yes, tried to delete to save embarassment. Cheers
  21. Thanks monkfish, couldn't have put it better! Have a wee sing to yourself before posting next time Dave!!
  22. Yip, just want add to this by saying, please please try and get some of last weeks atmosphere into the stands today. Think how much of a difference it obviously makes to the players. And selfishly, a win gives me more reason to book a flight for the "Massive North Stand" day v QoS! Cheers!! Same team for me, assuming Mooner good in training. As said, lots to lose and little to gain by starting with Jody. But expect him to make appearance at some point?
  23. Yip, the 'North Stand Massive' day! Bring it on! Another idea that stands out as both exciting and achievable Ginger. You said on another post that you had plenty of ideas for improving atmosphere at home games. . . . keep 'em coming, "The Fans Messiah"!!! To respond to the initial question, I would definitely come up the road for a one off, "North Stand Massive" home support. As stated, police will provide the main hurdle. Flags etc would provide the 'carnival' atmosphere the media, players and club have been raving about in post match interviews from EEP. However, all singers gathered in one stand behind a goal (as seen in many coninental clubs) would generate twice the volume that a thinly spread choir in the East would, no offence here as I myself head straight for turnstyle 13! I doubt there are many football fans in the East of Scotland who have not heard about last Saturday. There is real momentum here. McCaffery saying in paper how much of a difference it makes, Derek, GB and others have said the same. We the fans, can blatently make a diffrence to the players performance. Let's really push on now and turn McD into a carnival atmosphere, we've already proved once initiatives like this can be achieved.
  24. Totally agree and strike while the iron's hot! With recent events, WAP has obviously enjoyed some good coverage from media and club. While in the clubs good books, you have as much chance of setting something like this up now as any other time. Go for it. . . . . roll out the Ginger one, plus two!
  25. Hope to be up for Dens, would be perfect, no? Why no have a wee warm up for me on Sat though, just so everyone knows the words for my visit?!!
