  1. At the last couple of meetings its been proposed we have a night out. If I suggest some dates and you can let me know what your preference is. Fri 6th or Sat 7th March ( now sadly available due to last weeks disaster at QoS) or the following week Fri 13th/Sat 14th. If you can let me know if you want to eat or just meet up for a drink later. Suggested venue is the Phoenix Ale House on Academy street which serves food and I am assured a selection of fine beers.
  2. Belated Happy New Year to my fellow Highland Saints. Lets hope 2015 is as good as 2014.
  3. Thought up until 86mins Cup Tie and Midge were vying for my vote and then suddenly something totally unexpected happened and after that it was an easy decision.
  4. Maryburgh, Glad to hear you survived the ice bucket challenge in the Cromarty Firth ( which Greek island was in the background?) I will be leaving Inv midday and coming straight back up. Anyone else needing a lift?
  5. Tam Scobbie- up against some decent players but looked composed and tried to play the ball out when he had it. Good performances from Alan Manuus, cup tie, Chris miller and Spoony. Can't fault the effort last night from anyone.
  6. Dave McKay - gave us hope when we were badly in need of it!
  7. The football authorities never give a hoot for those fans that have to travel to a game. It may only be a few hundred yards but if the pavements are covered in ice and your not too steady on your feet then you will stay at home. For those further afield you are not guaranteed you will get home if the forecast is better so you decide not to go even although youve spent money on a season ticket. Or even worse how many of us have set off for a game and been turned back when we are virtually at the ground. Roll on summer football!!!
  8. Thanks. Never been so looking forward to it.
  9. www.slovakrail.sk then change it to english for the local trains. Dont know where you are looking at flying into but if its not Bratislava then its worth looking at www. themaninseat61.com which gives you links to the various national rail companies and international travel. We are flying into Vienna, then train into main station where there are regular trains taking just over an hour to Bratislava.
  10. Maryburgh Saint and myself booked in Hotel Eminent in Zlate Moravce at £30 a room each. There are trains from Bratislava to Zlate Moravce - see the slovakian railways web site at www.slovakrail.sk - you can change it to English. Couple of suitable trains out to the game but limited options the morning after with only two departures in the morning at 0513, arriving Bratislava 0733 with one change required and then at 0617, changing again to arrive Bratislava at 0836
  11. Anyone else had a moment of madness? MaryburghSaint and I are staying in Hotel Saffron ( on Hotel.com) in Bratislava the night before the match - £35 per room then taking the train out to the game - change of train required and takes about two and a half hours. Booked in Hotel Eminent in Zlate Moravce (booking.com) £30 per room then 0617 train with a change that gets us back into Bratislava for 0836. Theres no trains until the afternoon after that one.
  12. Forgot to say in the post match excitement that I picked up a couple of extra programmes in case the minibus was late so if anyone wants one pm me and i will bring them along on Thursday.
  13. its getting harder and harder to find one outstanding individual in the recent big games weve been involved in - Cup semi, Cup final, Lucerne away - as there have been outsatanding performances from every player on the pitch and that includs the subs. Went for Chris Miller - some brilliant blocks, chased and harried the whole game and rarely wasted the ball when he had it. Cant ask more of any player than to run himself to a standstill and thats what he did in extra time. Hope when the league starts, his critics take a minute to remember his contributions in these recent history making games before slagging and abusing him or is that too much to ask?
  14. Went for Steven Maclean. Took his goal really well and put a great shift in chasing and making a nuisance of himself which was a great effort in the heat, especially the first half. Thought Alan Mannus and Scott Brown were a close second.
  15. Looks like the Highland Saints are going to be well represented in Switzerland!!
  16. Booked Edin - Geneva on Tue morning for £194 return but believe prices have risen greatly since I booked. Frequent trains from Geneva, under 3hrs, costing about £25.No cheap hotels unless you want a room in a dorm at one of the hostels. Booked in Hotel Luzernhof, Alpenstrasse 3 which is in the city centre, about 25 min walk from the ground. £80 per night.
  17. my votes for this years winner of the Highland Saints magic moment award - Frazer Wright away seems appropriate for this season.
  18. Its been an unbelievable 18 months since the Highland Saints were formed. European adventures, cup semi finals and finally yesterday. Absolutely fantastic day - still think I am on a legal high!!! Thanks to everyone for your company, team spirit, organisation and hard work to make these events happen. Heres to the next 18 months - can it get any better? Enjoy your summer break
  19. Jez, Will be going through town about 0700 to have a cup final breakfast at Brewers Fayre if thats any good to you.
  20. Davie, Wouldnt mind a T shirt if there are any large left ( Reality says I am not going to get into a medium any more) Will pay you sat if one is available
  21. I will be attending for a Brewers Fayre breakfast and will be paying at the till. Please dont count me twice - once for attending and once for paying, as that will mean I will have to have two breakfasts!!
  22. Just arrived home with all the tickets. Highland saints are going to the Scottish Cup Final!!!!! Roll on the 17th. Will e mail everyone the details later after a short snooze
  23. Just a quick update re block booking of tickets. So far we have - Ross and Kieran Gary +1 Me +3 Kenny +4 Rhodda, Charlie, Raymond +1 Iain, Don +TBC today That gives us a little block of 24+ Highland Saints and friends and family. HSF, Seannachie and Saintee 14 - are you making your own arrangements or do you want to join us. I am a bit worried that with my odd e-mail address it sometimes gets consigned to peoples spam box amongst the offer for Rolex watches for a tenner and the news that you have won the lottery in a country youve never visited. Not pushing for you to join us just checking you got the e-mail. Roll on the 17th May!!!
  24. Great team performance. Went for Dunne - tackled hard and kept things simple with his distribution which left a talented United midfield chasing shadows.
