Many people from Perth and surrounding area as well as family and friend of Players etc will be going to the final as it is a historic day and most of them. They will not attend our home games for a variety of reasons. My group are an example of this their are 16 going and only three of us regular Saturday supporters. Wives and family who are coming to celebrate the occasion with us. I will enjoy the game so much more with then sitting next to me. I suppose others see this as a final to unite the St Johnstone and Perth family.
  3. How about a poem and a song Seventeenth of May cannot come quick enough The waiting and anticipation can be very tough Joy at the number of supporters taking our allocation Others celebrating the joy of their ticket conformation Heading to Celtic park on this famous Saintee day Nothing will stop McLean, Ando, Mannus and May Soon we are on the attack and Spoony hits the post Now victory will go the team who wants it the most Every Saintee celebrates a vital goal by Stevie May Final whistle is only a few anxious moments away Celebrations it’s over and a famous victory won
  4. It was said in jest no offense meant. But do remember dress code because I was turned away at European game for wearing trainers.
  5. Enjoy your day with Neutral, Arabs and other non football supporters. Remember the dress code or you will be turned away from the gate. Will give you a wave from the singing and dancing end.
  6. I am open to suggestions any thing else that will turn my lager blue, need a drink to match my shirt.
  7. 10 pounds a bottle. Thanks but no thanks. I will make my own cup final beer with lager and a splash of Blue Bols liquor This will be cup final day drink hope it tastes as good as looks.
  8. Could someone please post the lyrics, I am a bit on the deaf side and struggled to make out some of the words. From the words I could hear and the tune itself is very haunting and I enjoyed it very much. The composer and band are to be congratulated for the tremendous effort. If anyone out there has influence at the club and band are willing I think it would make great half time entertainment at our last home game.
  9. Five best players, we are fortunate that we have many good players this season. The third best defense and a top goal scorer in the league so no surprise for my top 3 1. May 2. Anderson 3. Mannus My other two are players who made the team tick with their contributions. 4. McLean 5 Wotherspoon The remainder are equal 6th But if someone else scores a hat-trick in the cup final my selection will change
  10. Rules from SFA site (g) The receipts from the Semi-Final matches in the Competition shall be pooled and shall be deemed to include monies received from all admission charges to the matches, radio and television fees, and any sums in respect of advertising within the stadium specially for the occasion. The Association shall retain 10% of the balance, after payment of the expenses of the two matches and the clubs’ guarantees. The remainder, after payment of the rental for the use of a ground or grounds, the scale of which shall be determined by the Board, shall be divided, equally, among the four clubs. (h) The receipts at the Final Tie shall be calculated in the manner defined in section (g) foresaid mutatis mutandis. The Association shall retain 10% of the balance, after payment of the expenses of the match and the clubs’ guarantees. The remainder, after payment of the rental for the use of the ground, the scale of which shall be determined by the Board, shall be divided, equally, between the competing clubs.
  11. Cannot see what all the fuss is about. It is player of year the competition not a top goal scorer of the year award. Players voted on who they thought played best through out the season. If they choose a left back so be it. To me May will always be king.
  12. What are your suggestions if all those out of contract don't sign
  13. By my calculation we have 11 First team squad players whose contracts expire this summer Goalkeepers:15 Steve Banks 35 - Mark Hurst Defenders: 6 - Steven Anderson 19 - Gary Miller Midfielders 4 - Paddy Cregg 12 - James Dunne 18 - Murray Davidson 22 - Lee Croft Forwards 9 - Steven MacLean 11 - Nigel Hasselbaink 25 - Chris Iwelumo I my opinion it is essentials that we try our utmost to sign: 6 - Steven Anderson 19 - Gary Miller 12 - James Dunne 18 Murray Davidson 22 - Lee Croft and Steven MacLean If they do not sign who do we get to replace them and can we afford their transfer fee and salary In my opinion we cannot afford to carry 3 Goalkeepers 2 plus under 20 keeper would be sufficient Central defender I would try for Darren Barr He was outstanding at Falkirk and in the Scotland squad but when he was transferred to Hearts they used him a cover and played him at fullback and he went into the wilderness. Played at Kilmarnock this season (out of contract 2014). Also out of Contract is Stephen McManus either would be a leader in the heart of our defense. Full back Van Zanten contract expires this season so he is a possibility Centre Midfield Kevin Thomson is an option if he does not get a new contract Attacking midfielder Rocco Quinn is available Forward Kane Hemmings I would sign him as at this time in the squad we only have two recognized forwards May and McLean As I stated at the start I would prefer our present squad players to resign but we need a contingency plan as Players will now be looking elsewhere if they do not get contracts and we must not miss the boat.
  14. Let me start by apologising to all for my unkind comments and particularly to Sasha and Jiangus Sainty. I am new to this form and had hoped it would be about football. Please bear with me on this. I got exasperated when I thought this topic would be a PC debate as I detest how they can quickly get out of control. I know about Racism and Sectarianism first hand. I am Scottish Protestant on one side and Irish Catholic on the other side. I also have two black cousins who were raised in the west of Scotland in the 60s. I have retired from the Army and served in Northern Ireland where I encountered Irish free zones (they saw it as freedom from British rule), also in Beirut where I saw Arab free zones (they saw it as areas where only Arabs were welcome) and in West Berlin where they had Communist free zones. These three free zones were brought about by Religion, Racism and Politics. All of which have no place on our forum. Can I please ask our members if they think something is PC incorrect let the administrators decide if the topic should be removed? Let your refusal to comment be your rebuff. We should make this form a football only zone. This topic has shown how an innocent idea can turn into a platform for PC debate. And as Sasha stated lets end this debate now. Please do not respond
  15. The 4th post on the topic was made by you "Unfortunately the fact that the nickname for that lot is shared by an ethnic group makes that particular suggestion less than possible" My interpretation of this remark was that you thought it racist, therefore do not try and blame anyone other than yourself for making this a PC debate my comments in the 5th post was not to make this a PC debate.
  16. In TW interview he said he picked up a hip injury. Wonder if it was Nigel in training so he could get a game (only joking before I get it with both barrels)
  17. St Johnstone team 01 Mannus 02 Mackay 24 Easton 12 Dunne 06 Anderson 05 Wright 10 Wotherspoon 04 Cregg 17 May 11 Hasselbaink 07 Millar Substitutes 09 MacLean 15 Banks 19 Miller 22 Croft 23 Clancy 25 Iwelumo 44 Thomson
  18. Heard O'Halloran has hip injury. Hope he rests him if not 100%. No need to gamble with players to me Cup final more important than league position.
  19. Lets not go down the PC Route again if we thought we were being racist all reference to Arabs would be banned from this site and from the stadium. It a name adopted by them and used by supporters and journalists all over Scotland to refer to them. Do we offend Christians when we call ourselves Saints? If it does should be called Johnstone FC
  20. Simon Templar Saint cards to display at the cup final and some lyricist put words to the theme tune. It could be great combination http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYt1MZPP8IY
  21. Like the Simon Templar idea could also use theme tune see cup songs
